The 1v1 Metagame

I think Blissey would be too broken for this Metagame, or at least focus sash would be.

Fat Pinky @ Focus sash/Chople Berry
Evs: 4HP/252Def/252SpD
Nature: Bold
-counter
-softboiled
-seismic toss
-toxic/(insert attacking move)

This Blissey would completely wreck physical attackers with counter sash, and special attackers as always fall to blissey. Many physical attackers fail to 1HitKO Blissey here as well, even without sash. If sash was banned then it still functions fine, maybe chople berry?
 
That Blissey set loses to physical Ghosts, Subsitute users and CMers, basically. It does sound pretty good though, but it's not "too broken".
 
Wouldn't a scarf Machamp work well?

Machamp (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Payback
- Thunderpunch/Firepunch
- Ice Punch

It can hit super effective on almost every type, but if you can't you can just Dynamicpunch and get a confuse on.


Also, is there a way to play 1v1? I haven't seen how too...

Most people playing 1v1 are doing it on Pokemon Online, or just on normal wifi.
 
Pokemon Online =/= Pokemon World Online.

Counter Blissey is good, but it loses to Sleep and quite a few other strategies.

The metagame kinda conspires against Machamp - at least Kingdra can't outspeed and 2HKO with Outrage, but it's 50-50 anyway because with Jolly you don't 2HKO HP-invested Kingdra either. However, Scarf Machamp loses hard to Togekiss, which is bad.

I definitely think Jirachi is the better ScarfFlincher, because of Trick to stop Sleepers. The problem is what to use as the two coverage moves you're then afforded.

Fake Out beats that set, along with Will-o-Wisp, Toxic, or any weak attack such as Knock Off when it comes to physical attackers
 
Fake Out doesn't beat that set, actually. Chople is the best item because Blissey can take almost every physical attack - CB Slaking's Return fails to KO.

Hmm well I am brand new to both smogon and competitive pokemon but this seems like a truly interesting idea! It would eliminate most standard parts of the metagame. Just wondering is there a 3 v 3 branch similiar to this?

Lum Berry Metagross with Bullet Punch completely screws that over. Also, any fast Taunters will be able to Taunt it, take three Extremespeeds, and 2HKO it.
 
Fake out users stops it. Taunt also stops it and sleeping moves also stop it.
Seriously the sash is broken. The scarf is more broken then the sash. Also where are u people playing this cause I want to play. My fc is 1677-2326-3329. :D

Doesn't Metal Burst work best with low defense and high HP since it deals more damage that way?

Earthquake is probably the obvious choice for the last slot, or Ice Punch could work, I suppose since people will expect Earthquake and hard-hitting Steel-types like Metagross still lose to Metal Burst. amirite?

Hey, buddy. Look back a page or two and see that your little set there actually sucks majorly. If Sash Yawn Kingdra can beat it, it simply cannot be viable.

By the same logic banning Focus Sash, Stealth Rock should also be banned. "Stealth Rock seems way too broken for this Metagame and would probably be on every team, therefore it will be banned." Gives no reasoning as to why it should be banned beyond "it looks imba and will appear in many places, therefore it IS imba". No logic describing how it will warp the metagame more than, say, sleep moves. Sashes ARE easily countered by Fake Out, weather, and sleep, and can be potentially stalled through by a wall. Not to mention, without Focus Sash, Counter Blissey becomes an absolute pain and almost untouchable beyond sleep, and the lack of Sash makes many more fragile Pokemon completely unviable. Sash does more to help the metagame than hurt it.
 
The thing with 1vs1 is that one pokemon can not cover every single pokemon while a team of 6 can cover more. This makes the meta game more diverted. IMO. Also has anyone tried choice scarf jirchi or togekiss with there haxy ness yet?

The great thing about this set is that many things will have trouble finding what they should do. There are 2 different items to choose from, which have very low evidence of what it is. The status poke's will pass and the walls (Blissey) will prepare to counter, giving you time to yawn. Protect is for general stalling and scouting. It can also be used for substitute, but it isn't suggested. Another great thing about Hippowdon is that he has defense for all the physical offensive poke's running amuck, and most of those lose to him. Shedinja is screwed by sandstorm also. A counter would be Roserade for sure, but can be beat if it fails to OHKO with grass knot and gives you time to yawn. When would that happen though? Point being, avoid Roserade.

Oh yeah, sash is banned. Don't fight it, it's annoying when everyone talks about sash and bases their whole poke' around it.
