Looking at the map, behind the seedy town there are 2 caves (Kinda further down...) and at the top left of the desert what appears to be 2 ruins in a deep desert area. Cool :D

I wonder, what if the sarcophagus pokemon is the 'fossil' pokemon of GenV? Instead of prehistoric animals, they use prehistoric artifacts/monuments? Though, then it's kinda like Claydol (IIRC, its origins are ancient man-made clay dolls brought to life somehow). W/e.

Considering we are getting a vast desert, I see no reason Gamefreak wont include more fossil pokemon. I hope this also means Cacnea + Cacturne make an appearance :3.

With every passing generation comes more terrible designs...the potential for ruination is extremely high.

too bad Gen 4 had better designs than gen 3, and gen 2 was on par with gen 1. you're just hating the new designs because they're new, just like everyone else. stop being a purist tool. it's annoying. that goes for everyone.

Current rumors from a group that was already proven right three times state that one of my favorite pokemon, Tauros, is getting a minotaur evo...i am not happy about this at all. It's going to be wearing a dress or something.

that source was pretty much proven false when he used fan art from Deviantart as "proof" for the Tauros evo.

Thanks.
I wanted to say this so many times (especially the "annoying" part).
Frankly, if you're not excited to see new Pokemon you're no fan of the franchise.

That we're getting new Pokemon games and so many people are moping about in these threads with rainclouds over their heads is pretty silly IMO.
If you consider Gen I to be the epitome of the series you have had it (and remakes of it) for over a decade and will continue to have it. I don't want it again, thank you.

EDIT @ Wishy: Very true. I'm so tired of the repetitive memes (out of ideas, ruined forever, digimon) that people post as if they were these huge insights.
I'm not fighting opinion, but the unoriginal pre-packaging is melting my brain. I've resorted to skimming/skipping posts with those words so I don't lose sanity.
Think for your own self, post your own thoughts and stop parrotting what 'teh internets" is saying!

I don't see what's so wrong with the designs. I love how creative and imaginative Ken has gotten in the designs, reaching out to different lores and species to create interesting look Pokemon. He's putting more detail in each design, proving how much time and effort he's putting into them to make 'em unique.

Sure, sure it's your opinion but people need to stop being so preachy about how ~superior~ past designs were... Uh, they weren't. I personally think Gen 1 = 2 = 3 = 4 design wise :3.

I also hate when people say 'THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY RUNNING OUT IF IDEAS LOL'... What? If Ken was out of ideas, we wouldn't be getting new Pokemon in the first place lol. If he was out of ideas, we'd be getting more Voltorbs and Electrodes (no hate on 'em, just using their simple and similar [to each other] designs as an example) opposed to a gothic lolita or something. Silly folks~

How about we give gengar and zam a special priority fire move? Yeah if you hate scizor this would be a godsend.

Nail in the coffin for Ice.

TBH I liked the simplistic design. It was more reflective of the real world. Only Legendaries and a select Pokemon should be over the top, but Pokemon was fated to end up like this.

How many of you actually played Pokemon RBY? The sprites were fucking terrible. Look at the despair on Exeggutors face.

What are you trying to say, Deviantart isn't a credible source of "proof"!? /sarcasm

...Why do people feel the need to attack opposing opinions?
I think your opinion about Gen 4 having better designs than Gen III is the complete inverse of the truth, and that's just my opinion. Both are irrelevant to Rai's point that he doesn't want his past favorite Pokemon to be given a poor evolution. I can understand Rai's fear of having an old favorite given an evolution that "ruins" (in that person's mind, of course) it's look and flavor.

Not liking the new Pokemon design styles does not make you a "purist tool", nor does it mean you're not a "fan of the franchise" (@deluge). People are going to have different opinions, just accept that fact. Personally, I am a bit disappointed with the new designs as well, but I know they will grow on me with time!

And on that topic, the White&Green-floaty Pokemon (whatever it is) has really grown on me. I really want to find out more about it... I wonder if it's some sort of plasma Pokemon?

OH BUT IT'S SO CREATIVE, WALKING PALMTREE WITH THREE HEADS (what was with the three headed evolution thing in RGBY?)

(i'll give you snake with legs is pretty creative in a bad way, but god damn that doesn't stop Tsutarja from being totally badical, and I like how it looks to be based on a specific kind of snake as opposed to lolitsjustasnake like Ekans or Seviper)

I think if you describe Pokemon detail-by-detail, they all sound pretty stupid.

Seviper...God, Seviper. It is just the most useless waste of a fantastic concept. It's what Arbok should have been as far as design goes, and maybe if you combine their BSTs you'd actually get a Pokemon worthy of being a freaking Viper/Dragon thing.

Here's some cool/good fanart of Slimer, gives the design much more respect then the sprite:

That picture... pretty frightening looking, in a very good way. And I was just looking for something like this, too. "Germ" Pokemon, huh? That'd be interesting if it's true, sounds like Poison-type, which I'd never have guessed.

QFT. Seviper's design was great. Another Pokemon who wishes it had just a few more base stats (namely Speed) to be a terrifying mixed sweeper.

So far, the only designs I truly like are Sarcophaghost and Drillmole. I especially have an extreme distaste for the bug-like Dragon and the darker-lookin' Gardevoir thing. Seems a bit odd when such bad designs (In my humble opinion) can be paired with some pretty interesting ones. I'd love to see Sarcophagost be a rarer or boss Pokemon in a dungeon, much like how Lapras/Rotom were, depending on which versions you preferred. He seems like an interesting Poke to say the least, and might make a decent wall.

I also wonder, would you be able to swap different save files around over a computer/flash drive? It seems highly likely through the trailer, and would definitely be a viable solution to my main complaint about the Pokemon games nowadays: Only one save file can be held. Imagine it: Being able to raise your own competitive teams, and having a younger sibling be able to still enjoy themselves in the story independently. That's a hell of a way to get both the older and younger generations into the game.

Has anyone discussed what Grass Mixer might do? What it could do to be useful? I have a feeling that it will probably, unfortunately, be like, a Grass-type Fire Spin-sorta thing.

Also, that's got to be one of the dumbest attack names. "lol mixin grass"

how the FUCK does almost everyone see the dragon thing on here:
oha-suta-new-pokemon-1.jpg

as a bug type
it doesn't look slightly insect like in my eyes and absolutely not mantis like

IKR? lol, it looks like a big armored dragon with axe blades.

Seriously, every time I see that mole I love it's design more and more o_O there's just something so badass and cool about it.

Typing though... Hmm... Dark/Steel? But then a mole weak to EQ is a bit odd... Dark/Ground? I hope it's not Steel/Ground at least. I'd love for it to be Dark/Steel, but something tells me it's probably not gonna be. Actually scratch that, Onix and Steelix are known for digging underground but both are weak to EQ. And anyway, I doubt a mole wants to be subject to an Earthquake lol >_>. So preevo = Dark type and badass mole = Dark/Steel type.

Can someone please help me verify what that is above it's head? Okay, it's another drill bit but is it like a helmet above it's head, a protrusion from it's back (o_O) or part of it's tail? Cause it kinda looks like it has a tail but I dunno...

It definitely looks very Dragon/Ground like. I'm hoping it's Dragon/Rock though, that would be kinda cool, although it would probably end up being low OU unless it gets absurd stats or great speed and swords dance...

For me, it looks like a dragon and its color is yellow. That's where I thought, this must be an another dragon/electric type. It doesn't look like a bug to me as well.

I don't like the designs. I kinda have this impression that they're fake. Maybe because they did a more detailed design this time. But, I know this perception of mine will change once this comes out and it'll be a lot different when I'm already playing.

I want a jack-o-lantern Pokemon that has a Grass/Fire typing. I'm hoping that the 3v3 battle won't disappoint me.

This. This is exactly what I think. Sorry if I came off as a prick in my last post, but it's really just starting to get to me. people acting preachy about how "obviously horrible" the new Pokemon are, without even explaining what makes them so horrible. it's just annoying.

by the way, I realized we really have no basis to know how big these new Pokemon are, because the sprites aren't to scale. I know size has no definite relation to it's status as a Pokemon, but the Axeosaurus could be no taller than the trainer, for example. that would make him less likely to be the Psudo (I have doubts he is, at the moment, based on how early he was revealed) since psudo's are generally quite tall, or large in general. being no larger then, say, Scizor would make him more likely to be obtainable early-mid game, I think.

Ken isn't doing the designs, at least not by himself. I do think that since he stepped down as sole character designer they've been grasping at straws design-wise.

Heh, it's understandable. I think the fact that people get so "preachy" over these new Pokemon just shows how much they care about the game's future.

Regarding the sprites, you say they aren't to scale, which is true... but sprites are commonly somewhat in scale. For example, Pidgey's sprite is much smaller than Pidgeot. But it's not just to illustrate growth - for example, look at Castform, Jirachi, Chatot. Those sprites could be much larger, and much more detailed. But they aren't as large as others, because those Pokemon are very small.

Because of this, it's safe to assume both "opponent" pokemon (the mole and TTar-wannabe) are relatively large (4ft+) and final form evolved Pokemon. But as you suggested, neither of their sprites are particularly *huge*, so it's safe to assume they are "normal" Pokemon and not pseudo-legends.
