A clearer image for those who havnt seen.

I don't mind the new Pokemon. I don't have a personal preference from gen to gen and just look it over when they're all out and cherry pick which one's I do like. I don't have to love them all, I just have to like some of them.

Ash's Pikachu? Does it have 6 attacks (Thunder, Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, Volt Tackle, Agility, Quick Attack) instead of 4 or something? Can it hit ground types with electric attacks? I just don't see what would make "Ash's Pikachu" different from a regular Pikachu you catch. Heck, you could catch a Pikachu in HGSS and pretend it's Ash's since it follows you.

I've looked over it before, and I think Ash's Pikachu mainly always has 4 moves throughout its entire time on the show (with a few exceptions). Thunder got replaced with Volt Tackle and Agility got replaced with Iron Tail so it should have Volt Tackle, Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, and Quick Attack (iirc, the same as Red's). So that means that it will have nothing that any other one of the hundreds of other Pikachu events have (since most of the newer ones all have Volt Tackle) and will have no impact on competetive battling.

That said, I'll still get it if it's over Wi-Fi.

Also, Aim for the Horn is an attack, not an ability.

actually i just checked with very reliable sources that this ash pikachu event will know the move thunder armor, it always fail outside of double battles. when used in a double battle with a flying type pokemon and ash pikachu on your side of the field both pokemons take 50% damage.

after that they become immune to damage, all atacks break screens, fighting hit ghost, eletric hit ground and psychic moves hit dark types, they also get +8 priority on all moves and they sprites change to a golden version. but the most important fact about this move make sure all yours moves ohko the oposing pokemon, regardless of the status(yeah, not even protect works). also thunder armor stay until the battle end.

so yeah, ash pikachu is one heck of a overpowered bitch.

on a serious note i think that the event is only to celebrate gen 4 is coming to a end(both anime and games) and is to show how ash pikachu is at the moment, probably no special BW event or moves.

edit:also thanks jibaku, i guess zoroark will fit my sonic based team has shadow after all.

Oh Christ, I'm starting to get really excited for this next generation.

Thanks for that link Jibaku. I think it confirms the notion that we all thought Zoroark was similar to Lucario. And assuming Gear doesn't get an evolution, it's going to be absolutely terrible or glass cannon-esque. -4 HP is awesome, however.

@ Theorymonning

Weren't there a few screenshots of the starters at level 50 that would make base stat calculating a lot easier? Or am I just horribly, horribly mistaken?

Also, it would be awesome if Ash's Pikachu turned out to have like a crazy hacked 600 BST or something. I mean, what else would explain his crazy power in the anime? And I don't want just another Light Ball. -.-

and drowzee has base 60HP, so either it already has some EVs or it's not a drowzee prevo after all (or it loses HP when it evolves)

If Gear's HP is that low, I hope it either evolves or has better stats elsewhere... Or else it's probably a craptastic one off. Zoroark's stats seem pretty good, I'm pretty sure we all expect it would have Lucario-esque stats.

Would be funny if Ash's Pikachu came with "Pure Power" and a Light Ball, hehe. That's really the only way it would be any sort of significant event at all though.

I honestly have no doubt Gear will evolve. Im sure not even gimmick pokemon have that low HP.

Shuckle has 20 Base HP and Luvdisc has 43. I still think it's going to be a gimmick Pokemon because it has Plus and Minus. The fact that Gamefreak is brought up Triple Battles means that they're going to be catious about making Pokemon that will completely destroy the new VGC metagame (although, I don't see how something like Kyogre doesn't already destroy it) and they're only going to give Plus and Minus to a gimmick Pokemon.

Munna has 91 max Base HP? Impressive.

Hmm, the one with 0 EVs and 31 IVs is 76, which seems to prove that Munna isn't a Drowzee prevo like I thought.

odd. it has so much in common with Drowzee that I'm a little disappointed that it looks less like a prevo. by the way, 91 max base HP is huge on a stage 1 Pokemon, if Munna is one (it will most likely evolve at least once). either it loses some when it evolves (which would still leave hope for a Drowzee prevo), it's going to retain the same HP stat throughout it's evolution line, but will have bad stats in everything else early on, or that this calculation is wrong (which I doubt).

Of course it's not a Drowzee prevo you silly people.

we're silly for assuming something that made absolute sense, and was ridiculously obvious until we got an HP stat estimate? ok, sure...

Edit: lol and Gears -4 base hp. it will probably evolve. I hope it does, since it has so much potential for an evolution. it could have Plus or Minus as it's first stages abilities, then get better ones when it evolves.

Come on, how can something with flower patterns that is shaped like a pillow or seapig, levitates, with an entirely different color scheme and eyes, evolve into a bipedal tapir, then evolve again into a paedo-mon with a pendulum? The only thing Munna has in common with Drowzee is its abilities and description.

Come on, how can something with wings on its ears that is shaped like a snake or a sea monster, floats and controls the weather, with an entirely different color scheme and eyes evolve into a fat dragon with antennae and limbs and wings that have migrated to its back? They don't even have similar abilities or descriptions!

I'm not going to argue this, but there is reasonable explanation via the idea of a larva and a fly. Dragonair "is said to live in seas and lakes" while Dragonite "is said to make its home somewhere in the sea." I'd agree Munna evolves into Drowzee, except the flowers. Nothing is that distinct on Dragonair where you can immediately doubt it evolving into Dragonite (even those wings on its head could have shifted down, it's not uncommon). I'd much rather see Munna have its own evolutionary line. We'll see, and if it ends up being a prevo for Drowzee, fair enough. If not, I'm not going to be one bit surprised.
