World Cup: South Africa 2010 - Paul and Spain win!

i think the linesman probably didn't see the flick back and assumed it was all part of the same pass. it's definitely not on the same level of ineptitude as lampard's disallowed goal, higuain's handballs or tevez's offside goal against mexico.

I can't disagree, but the consequences ended up being the same. A mistake is a mistake.
And see, this is why I defend the introduction of vid replay. While the refs did make a mistake here, I won't blaim them, it was horribly difficult to see that offside. The other bad calls you mentioned were just blunt errors, that they had the obligation to see. But this one was an offside (by a foot or buy a mile, it's still an offside) for which they needed help to notice.
Where's that help? Well, stuck in the International Board's ass.

I only watched the goal three times, during the live streaming of the game, on a 14" tv, so you can't blame me for not noticing. Anyway, thats the whole point. You can't put that in the same level as the other two mistakes. That one was by inches, at most, with lots of players in front of the linesman. He didn't had the information to take a split second decision, so he let the play continue.

The other two goals, however, had an open field in front of the linesman, and were both wrong by a lot. Mistakes like the one in Portugal's game I see a lot in soccer, even in European and Brazilian championships. But like those two (England's and Argentina's ones) I don't see everytime, specially not in big competitions.

Anyway, Blatter said he is sorry (yeah, like if that would fix anything. Ireland knows how that works, right?), and that he intends to use technollogy on Soccer. He just never said when. =/

But they didn't miss a penalty, right?

EDIT: JUST SAW A REPLAY OF VILLA'S GOAL AND HE WASN'T OFFSIDE FOR LIKE 15 OR 30 CENTIMETRES.

Missing penalties doesn't mean a team is worse then the other.
Germany didn't have Klose on the game they lost to Serbia, and Klose makes all the difference for that squad.

Also, I stand almost corrected: It was indeed offside, but by no means it was a mistake from the linesman, as it was prooved that he wasn't able to see it, with so many players in front of him. He wasn't in a bad position either.

Head means offside too. Any part of the body that can be used on soccer needs to be behind two players from the other team. Since the keeper is normally behind the attacker, people always think about one defender only, but on Argentina's goal, there wasn't even one player between the Tevez and the goal, which makes that one the worse call I've ever saw live in a World Cup.

Anyway, anything that can be used to score a goal is able to put a player in offside position (remember that the hand doesn't count, even though Henry, Maradona and Luis Fabiano used theirs to score goals. =P)

He was offside but their was not a chance the linesman could have seen Xavi's back heel through about 5 players.

alemania will fuck argentina lol
It's called Germany in English. Also known as Deutschland. I disagree though. Argentina will win 3-2. From the games I've watched, not many teams have been playing as well as Argentina. I don't know much about football though, I only watch the shitty liga mexicana when there's games on. If they showed European leagues on public television, i would prefer to watch those games instead.

Any offside is a freaking offside, if someone touched the ball with the tip of their fingers and was barely noticable, does that mean its not a handball
Which is why we should have a referee behind the goals to determine a handball (Maradona I am looking at you) offside, how ironic Argentina too. Lampards goal and the offside that we are discussing
If someone fails by only half a mark, does that mean its not a fail. Nearly is not good enough
And an offside is an offside by a foot or not. Which means a mistake is any mistake
