that's so true, these new pokemon have a different feel about them, i'm not sure if its simply the colouration or the design as well
I mean, i do like mijimaru, but it feels odd...for example, all other water starters are almost completely blue (varying shades and all, but even they only have streaks of yellow and red)

styles change, 5 years ago the hottest thing to have was a RAZR cell phone, now its a big touchscreen that weighs just as much but is 5 times as big, did people say 'oh no the ipad is too thin, anyways its the same thing as a laptop anyways' no they said FUCK YEAH something new they can buy. styles change and gamefreak has to change styles as well

My main problem with Wotter is that they took a design that had promise, but just kept adding gaudy shit to it until it was unrecognisable and very overdesigned. It's what they did with all of the Sinnoh starters, and to an extent with the Hoenn starters.

And to be fair about this discussion, ye olde Croconaw never grew on me. Not one bit. Still looks like an angry Fred Flintstone with his colors inverted.
There's a reason Croconaw looks like that, the underlying theme of Totodile's line is that it's some sort of dinosaur, not just a crocodile/alligator, hence Croconaw's prehistoric look :/
I agree completely and anyway after a while, their designs usually grow on you.
I'd like a Polar Bear too, but really, I don't see how an Otter can turn into a Polar Bear.
What I WOULD like for this gen is a 3-stage Polar Bear line, finishing Ice/Fighting
Some of us really like the inanimate-based pokemon.
