Well, if you google the katakana for both rakonosuke and rakonosua, pokemon stuff shows up. So the japanese aren't sure either, lol

Well its from what I can tell. It's definitely "rakonosu" or "rayunosu" the last character might also be; chi se, te, ke, i (which makes more sense since it a water type). Oh and for the record I've seen the pic and I read the name Rakonosuke the first time and only saw his post today.

Rako- is DEFINITELY the first part. Since Pokemon names can only by 5 characters, the word rakko (otter) used for Mijumaru's "beta name" had to be shortened to accomodate whatever the second part of the name is. But they probably changed "Rakkomaru" to "Mijumaru" because they wouldn't be able to use "Rakko-" throughout the evolution line, and apparently shortening it just won't fly like it does for us (thanks Victreebel and Feraligatr), since that can probably change the meaning of it somehow.
Second part is debatable, but I'm deadset on Rakonosuke.
Ugh, it wasn't meant to be an insult. I was just saying that everybody is conforming to liking Wotter. And also, I just want my own opinion. I personally don't see the resemblance to fanart and the real thing. Again, I say, my OWN opinion.

I say calling names of any form is an "insult". People who didn't like Mijumaru don't like Mijumaru now as far as I can tell, they just like its evolution (well, unless you're a sap who gets sucked up into that LOL SAME COLORS comic), because it looks cool to us. I honestly don't understand how you can't see that the fanart is pretty faithful interpretation of the pre-production sketch, but whatever, if my helpful "diagram" didn't show you, nothing will. The thread's not going to be locked, expressing your opinion is fine, but when your opinion is blinding hatred for a Pokemon, someone needs to help you out.

I know I didn't care about the otter thing before but now it definitely turned the table. I never have given it a thought but seriously a Samurai thats a one bad a** evo.
Feraligatr is fine. Victreebel pretty terrible, though, I don't even know what they were trying to do. A pun on victory? What does it have to do with victory? And "bell" is surprising hard to recognize without that second "l"...
Well, like I said, I could be wrong, but it just like a "ke" kana to me, and since "ke" makes sense considering "Rakkomaru", I'm pretty sure that's what it is. But "i" makes even more sense, but I honestly don't think it looks like an "i".
ア イ and ケ all look somewhat similar considering the low quality. They all have a general T shape and have down/left curves. But i don't think -sua makes any sense. Either way, we'll find out eventually. I'm more interested in the grass one anyway.
For confirmation, using my favorite tool ever to make like I know Japanese when I really don't, "rakko" on EUDict. Interesting note is how it's specifically "sea otter", which Mijumaru is actually a pretty close representation of, color-wise, in an abstract sorta way.
I do enjoy how the ONLY descriptive phrase anyone can think of to describe the thought of a Samurai otter evo is "b.a." or "bad a**". Anyway you censor it... it's incredibly accurate. :naughty:

Now that more people want Mijumaru due to its Otturai evolution...I hate to say it, but I think Smugleaf is in more trouble now...
