Sorry Torkoal. I meant first defensive Fire-type starter. They've all been lower defense, more offense. It might be good to get a defensive, well-typed fire starter for a change.
I've gone on a cycle that has been uninterrupted since Gen I, but Gen V might be the one to break it:Well since GenI I have only picked the water starter except for cyndaquil in Gen II and i think this tradition will live on.

Gen V: I'm still leaning towards firepig, but if sadotter really gets that evolution... the Grass->Fire->Water cycle may be broken.
He'd just be a shitty Heatran, by virtue of limited BST. It needs something like Sceptile or Infernape. 93 HP / 72 Atk / 77 Def / 107 SpA / 83 SpD / 103 Spe would be good with a Fire/Steel or Fire/Ground typing (although the latter would prefer higher attack to take advantage of Earthquake).
I don't want any defensive fire type unless it's got levitate or magic guard. Being weak to SR and EQ is not good. Fire just can't be good defensively because either it will be weak to SR or it will be weak to EQ, but usually both. Although a good defensive Fire / Fighting would be nice if it had the right speed, maybe. Plus heatran rocks as defensive.
Or an OU defensive fire-type. Give us a recovery move, a 100% accurate signature will-o-wisp, a secondary steel typing, Levitate, and 120/120/120 defensive stats and you've got something truly epic on your hands

The fact that EVERYONE's first complaint about a defensive Fire-type is "SR weak not good" doesn't show me Fire can't be good defensively... it shows me that a Pokemon is considered less viable because it is weak to ONE WHOLE MOVE: Stealth Rock. Which is why it needs to be changed.
It's just ridiculous when you step back and realize how strongly SR has shaped the metagame and reshaped everyone's thoughts on battling.

They gave us Garchomp and Wobbufet. anything's possible.
Without SR, Moltres and Arcanine would be the only fire types I could see going up to OU. The other fire types really aren't well off enough. Maybe Charizard would come up.

Anyone on board my campaign to ban Stealth Rock?
True, and the fact that you edited your post to include mention of Torkoal evolving into that behemoth makes me twice as likely to support your plan. It's already a walking furnace... not too much of a stretch to throw in a Steel secondary typing.
It won't make any difference, just play with your friends and make a private clause. Gamefreak should seriously change the mechanics, but I'm not sure they ever will.

But Torkaol with Steel would be awesome,but why does everyone asume almost every Pokemon shown is a evo or pre-evo,or that there is going to be a evolution for everything.I think this Gen might be purely original,thats how it was for Gen 3.
Prevents them from being set up, or from harming your Pokemon? The former would be useless unless it was given to a fast Pokemon. For the latter, it's not very useful for only 5 turns. :/

1. Get rid of it.
2. Fixed 12.5% damage regardless of type.
3. 10% damage vs. neutral, 15% vs. 2x weak, 20% 4x weak, 7.5% resist, 5% 4x resist
4. Dark-Type Rapid Spin, Rock Smash / Brick Break destroy SR ONLY (not (T)Spikes)
5. Non-attacking move that eliminates all hazards (How Defog should have worked)
6. A new widely-distributed ability that lets a Pokemon absorb SR upon entering battle (or update a previous ability like Sturdy to function this way)
...thoughts?

Ok two pre-evos,but look at Gen 4,almost a third of it was evolutions of already existing Pokemon,it was a little much.
I personally really liked it.
Ya know, I just thought of something. Do you guys think there should be any type revamps of existing pokemom (as unlikely as it would be?) Beta screens of Crystal showed Beedrill as Steel/Poison, so they've planned on doing this sort of thing before.
I'd personally like to see the Pidgeot & Staraptor families finally lose their Normal typing and just be pure Flying. Or at least just Pidgeot to give it something over Fearow.
Oh and as always, non-normal Rapid Spin and 10% Stealth Rock ftw. (I use a stall team myself, but SR is still bull)

Lucalibur did say that there is a special team in pokemon thats designed for competitve , yet why does smogon create "tiers"?Why doesnt that "team" do it , because LoL , everything the team created kinda matches with the tiers its up they're predicting what smogon is up to.
If they do (which I suspect they will), I can't wait to see Pokabu's evo. I really hope they don't ruin him for me, as he is currently my favorite.
btw Same Colors doesn't make me like Wotter :/
Because the Pokemon Gamefreak designs are inherently imbalanced, and they can't tell a player which Pokemon to use... that's why Smogon creates tiers.
