Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I'm trying to RNG Bulbasaur right now and for some reason I can't for the life of me hit anywhere NEAR my target seed. I've RNG'd about 7 other pokemon so far in SS with absolutely no problem, always hitting my seed within the 1st to 5th try, but now I can't even find the seed I'm hitting within 2 seconds and 20 delays back and forth. Wtf? I've been trying different seeds since last night, and not a single one I can hit even close. I'm using pikatimer and I've doubled, tripled, and quadrupel checked the inputs to make sure there right and I still can't pin point why I'm hitting so far off. Any idea of what could be going wrong?

The dates right. I'm trying to check everything that I might of overlooked and it all comes back correct. Idk how this is happening =/

Sometimes I forget that i generated the adjacent results based on seconds X and and now I'm using seconds Y on pikatimer.

The seconds between the adjacent finder and pikatimer are correct. This is really worrying me, I'm going to go ahead and re-calibrate to see exactly how many seconds I'm hitting and the delay.

A Guide to Sweet Scent in Gen IV
by Ditto

Sweet Scent
Sweet Scent is a move that has the ability in the Overworld to initiate a wild Pokemon battle in locations where random encounters are possible. Sweet Scent ignores the effect of Repel. Sweet Scent does not work in the Overworld if there is Hail, Heavy Rain, Fog, or Sandstorm.

The use of Sweet Scent in RNG Manipulation
Sweet Scenting can be a very useful way when trying to hit higher frame because it can advance the frame by a large amount, but you must be very careful with your calculations.

Pokemon who learn Sweet Scent through Level Up
[Pokemon Name (Level Learned)]
Bulbasaur (21), Ivysaur (23), Venasaur (23), Oddish (5), Gloom (1/5), Bellsprout (29), Weepinbell (29), Victreebel (1), Chikorita (28), Bayleef (32), Meganium (34), Bellossom (1), Teddiursa (22), Ursaring (22), Surskit (13), Masquerain (1/13), Mawile (16), Illumise (5), Roselia (31), Tropius (21), Roserade (1), Combee (1), Vespiquen (1), Carnivine (17), Shaymin (37)

Pokemon who learn Sweet Scent through Breeding
Paras, Sunkern, Shuckle, Lotad, Cherubi

Frame Advancements caused by the use of Sweet Scent
Advancements only result when there is a successful sweet scent.

  • Sweet Scent used in DPPt in grass or cave: +1
  • Sweet Scent used in HGSS on bike: +1
  • Sweet Scent used in HGSS with Pokemon following: This has been inconsistent, so I recommend riding your bike.
  • Sweet Scent used while Surfing: +2
Frame Advancements caused by the Wild Pokemon Encounter
This is for all Wild Pokemon Encounters, not just ones brought about by sweet scent. First you must know the frame of the spread you encountered. You must also know the "Actual Frame" of the spread you encountered. The Actual Frame of a spread is the frame of the spread in Method 1. To find your current frame after the encounter, you must take the Actual Frame of the spread and add 6. That is your current frame.

Example
Seed: 9311077c (no Synch)
Roamers: 2 (Raikou, Entei)

I use Sweet Scent while surfing. My stating frame is 3 because of roamers and I add 2 because of the Sweet Scent advancement, so I battle a Pokemon on frame 5 (Rash | 0 | 17/8/15/8/10/7) with an Actual Frame of 46. Once the encounter is complete and I have either captured or fainted the wild Pokemon, I add 6 to the Actual Frame. My current frame is now frame 52. I can continue to do this to advance my frame by large amounts.

Math for Above Example
1 (Normal Starting frame) + 2 (Roamers) = 3 (My Starting frame) + 2 (Sweet Scent while Surfing) = 5 (Encounter frame) --> 46 (Actual Frame of Encounter frame) + 6 (Battling Advancement) = 52 (Current frame after Encounter)

Fucking a I got it! Somehow I was able to notice a pattern going on everytime I was sure I hit my delay before I checked. When I check and saw that the responses were P, P, K, P, P, E, E, I kept looking through all the neighboring seeds to see if I hit any of them but none of them matched. It wasn't till I looked at my target seed closer that I noticed this: K, E, P, P, K, P, P, E, E! When I saw that I knew it couldn't be a coincedence, so I kept calling Elm and following the respones along the grid and every single one matched all the way up to my target frame of 114! I stopped at 113 to account for the monster frame and unfortunally it wasn't the spread I was aiming for. =(

I looked to see what spread the frame was on and I saw it was frame 118. So somehow, something made it jump 4 frames ahead. So I retried, accounting for the 4 extra frames, and when I hit my seed again I went up to frame 109 (monster frame +1, random 4 frames +4, = 114), and BAM! I got it.

So for some reason, RNGing in Oak's lab for one of the starters made my seed start on the 3rd frame rather than the 1st, and it jumps 4 extra frames ahead when you advance for your frames, wow. Am I the only one that this happened to? Shit that sucked having to figure out.

Also, I know theres a NCP in the room so that must be why, but he didn't turn or move when I went into and out of my Pokegear so idk.

I have some problems with this spread:
Delay:1045
Frame:532
Place: Lake Verity so no NPCs
I was just testing this and i finally got the desired delay but whenever i try to do the frames i always seem to add 19 more leaving me a total of 551 and i was pretty sure that i did 532 (264 flips +1turn in grass) and the fourth time i made 200 flips just to check there was nothing wrong so i caught a poke using sweet scent input my seed and got a frame of 417, so if i just did 200 flips from where did i get the other 17? i said it was no big deal
so what i did later was :
530-(417+ 7 from the battle)=106 frames left
so i just decided to do turn+walks until that number and when i used sweet scent for my surprise it wasnt the poke i wanted so i checked its seed and i was on frame 756

Any help please?

EDIT: If it's useful i have 4 pokes in party and no i didnt take more than 128 steps and no wandering pokes

Quick question about Emerald RNGing.

Does the frame start advancing as soon as the game is started or when you hit continue?

Well I found a good shiny spread I want and found the list of ID/SID combo that makes that spread shiny using ID finder. And here is the question: Are any of the ones that came up on the list an impossible ID/SID Combo? Or are they all possible ID/SID combos? I'm asking because someone on the blacklist got blacklisted because of an impossible ID/SID combo. O.o

Edit: And I'm going to RNG abuse my ID when I buy a new DS in 2 days and I saw WildEep's post and it doesn't tell me when the ID/SID is generated in HGSS. In D/P/P it's generated after the TV show thing but what about in HGSS? On what screen am I suppose to press "A"?

Ok, I've completed my first RNG abuse but I still have one question. Since I saved me final result that means my save frame has changed. It was 4 before, what is it now?

Basically, how much does saving change the frame?

Watch this video because is kindda hard to explain where you have to hit A or by addresses like he does lol

EDIT: anyone have an idea about my question above?

Ok now this is the straw that broke the camel's back when i finally RNG'd for a good ID/SID (36407/50668) for this shiny spread Adamant 31/31/31/23/31/31 i started to RNG for frame 136 and after dealing with an annoying wandering NPC i finally "THOUGHT" i had the right seed frame and delay for it but when i use sweet scent for 136

i fell in frame 152 and the ironic part was that it was a shiny geodude with that spread and i was like (insert angry face here), i mean in the spread table in the RNG reporter that frame doesn't even appears. any comment of why this is like the 20th time this had happened to me? oh and with different games?

Details
Target Frame: 136
Seed:250B0FB3
Delay: 4009
Wandering NPCs: 1, Moved? NO
Riding the bike
3 pokes in party: 1 sync in front(adamant) 1 fainted

Please help. Posted on other page, but got no response. Which NPC's affect the RNG on route 209 in Platinum?
only 2 do both of them are breeders and you can rebattle them using the VS seeker to keep them from moving, you'll no which ones they are because they are the only ones that don't move in a set pattern.

Thanks Nexus! I'd missed them both when I was sweeping the route. QUESTION: Does vs seekering the twins/young couple cause them to start advancing the RNG since they begin to move in an irregular pattern AFTER being vs seekered and not BEFORE?

EDIT: Don't mind this, just realized something :D Thanks a LOT!

Question (again): The guide says that turning 190 degrees will advance the RNG by 1. What about turning 90 degrees? What does that do?

Don't you mean 180? Walking and turning lead to inconsistent results anyway, I think.

Yeah, I meant 180. So if you're facing right and turn in place so that you're facing up or down, it's inconsistent?

EDIT: Nvm, it's 1 no matter which way you turn.
