@ Toon abw: shinyness and everything else is decided on the legendary birds when they are encountered, but IIRC you can only battle each one once, and after that it is not there anymore, so I don't really understand the question.

@ Phadunk: I personally like dusk balls, but I think quick balls are yellowish, so they might go well together.

jolly swords dance charizard, fire punch or flare blitz?

This really depends on whether you want your Charizard to survive longer (Fire Punch) or hit stuff with more power (Flare Blitz).

If you choose to run Flare Blitz I suppose Roost is always an option to heal the recoil damage.

What's the speed of a Choice Scarfed Lead Azelf? My Jolly 252 Spe Crobat can't outspeed it, and I don't like having a choice scarf tricked on me.

EV Question

Hey guys!
so i have a q about EV's.
So you know how there are those berries you can use that undo certain EV's in each stat?
so when you use those does that mean that it will reduce your stats a bit? because if that happens that means that you can start over EV training with any pokemon right? (except level 100)

like if i had a Clefable level 50 that i had never EV trained before, by using a lot of certain berries it would be capable of being EV trained right?

-- Thanks in advance :)

can somebody please explain the mechanics of Regigigas' Slow Start? I know attack and speed are halved but I need more in depth info. For example is "halved" the same as having your Attack and Speed harshly fall?

I thought baton passing a Rock Polish + Swords dance would cancel out the Slow Start, but it didn't seem to work. Also, when exactly are the stats lowered?

Purugly6:

When EVs are reduced, the stats are also reduced. EVs can even reach up to 0 in this way. Thus using these berries will allow you to effectively "erase" a Pokemon's training.

Stupido:

My description for Slow Start is as follows:

When bearer becomes active and whenever bearer adopts this ability, bearer's Attack and Speed are halved for five rounds, including the current round, or until bearer is replaced or bearer loses this ability.
Slow Start begins when the Pokemon comes into battle. The effect, however, doesn't reduce Attack and Speed in the same way as one use of FeatherDance and one use of Cotton Spore would (each of which "reduces stat stages"). Instead, both stats truly do become half their previous value. Therefore, Slow Start is a different and separate effect from effects that raise or lower stat stages (like FeatherDance and Swords Dance).

What chain breeding schemes do you use to breed Rapid Spin onto Tentacool? I've tried breeding it using a Kabuto with Rapid Spin yet they are not compatable.

thanks so much poccil! ^_^

Hey Guys - so i have a quick question about IV's.

So I've been looking for some pokemon with good IV's (in the wild because im trying to catch my whole party w/ dusk balls cuz it looks cool lol) and i found a good IV calculator, but i was wondering --

How much do IV's determine?

Like, for a pokemon like Gastrodon, with a decent Sp. Defense of 82, if i only have a "9" for my Sp. Def IV, does that really mean that my base stat for sp. def is actually way lower??

-- thanks in advance :)

@ Phadunk
Well maybe like a premier ball because if it's fire type it'll look cool when it comes out red -- but my favorite is the dusk ball!! btw, keep in mind that u can always attach seals to ur ball to make cool effects, no matter what ball u catch it in :)

lol triple post.

Each IV is worth 1 stat point at level 100. Therefore the difference between a 31 and a 0 IV is roughly half that between full and no EV investment.

Purugly6:

For a level 100 Pokemon, each IV of a Pokemon increases the corresponding stat by 1.

Base stats are values that indicate the stat potential for a particular Pokemon species. For example, every Blissey has a high HP because the species Blissey has a high base HP. Base stats don't change. However, for certain Pokemon species, such as Deoxys and Wormadam, each form may have different base stats.

Here's my question..

Let's say my scizor got poekrus and machobrace onm and i defeated a starly. First of all, starly give 1 EV points in speed. with machobrace it double the EV points from it, And with the pokerus on its ALSO double the EV. It is doubling the EV that give starly or the EV after the macho brace doubled the EVs.

Thanks in advance
