Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

My Platinum game seems to be returning unreasonable values when calibrating. :/ I've never managed to hit my desired seed either for some reason.

Is there some way the RNG could be... Off for my game? I am playing on a CycloDS Flashcart if that could have something to do with it. (Yes, I have the actual game BTW. >.>)

klinic: It shouldn't no. For your first time, just mash a as fast as possible every time. Be sure to start the game at the same time too -ie if during calibration you waited a minute, then wait a minute all the time.

I heard that some other people, zerohorus and someone else, were also having trouble with Platinum. Maybe people should just stick to DP or HGSS.

That's weird, I use Platinum (skippy too) and many others I imagine with no problems. The average delay/seconds for platinum is just different from Diamong/Pearl, but it should still work as long as you calibrated - or use pikatimer. Whichever, lol.

Maybe, but I don't have a legal copy of Diamon or Pearl. But I do have a copy of SS, but I've heard roms are a bit iffy with those games, problems with freezing and the like.

@Bakus: I'm doing everything you suggested already, but the results are apparently unreasonable, RNGReporter won't accept them.

I've a problem :(

I'm abusing heatran (frame 1), with a high frame, 13.671 (don't ask me how because I don't even know xD), I browsed through the beauty of 6835 pages, exact, then captured the pokemon and my frames is 13.672 ... but why? An even number? o.O
The frame is advanced by one for some reason, and I didn't wrong to count the pages, because if I counted one less, the frame was 13.669 (odd number), and with one more page, the frame was 13.703 (odd number), but I have an even number, how is it possible?

Help me ;_;

Hey guys quick question, should be easy to answer.

For Egg IVs, if I have a target frame of 12, do I advance the RNG to 10 or 11? I just did it to frame 11 (like you do with stationary legendaries), and I received the spread immediately after my target. It could just be bad NPC luck, but I thought I'd make sure before I try again. HeartGold, by the way.

you want to advance it so that you are on frame 11. so if you start on frame 1 you will want to call elm 10 times. I think anyway....its been a wee while since I did breeding

Thanks for the info domeface! That was really helpful.

Unfortunately, I still can't seem to get it. Every time, the elm calls are offsetted. I tried saving 5 different times, but no dice. Can the NPCs move when the screen is black (in between hitting continue and viewing overworld)? I tried a different day/time with a frame of one, but once again, I could not get the correct IVs. This time, however, I am unsure whether it is me not hitting the correct delay, or me not pressing A fast enough.

@Young_Jedi91: Make sure you have Java installed. Associate Jar files with the JRE.

That's strange. Are you collecting your egg as soon as you enter the game world? Because when you're using a frame of 1, you don't have time to pause to check Elm responses, as the NPC could move.

However, it sounds as if you're doing it correctly, but you can't verify your delay/frame. To do this, right-click on the spread you're using in the timefinder, and click "Generate Adjacent Results". Select parameters so you have a delay range of around 30, with your target in the middle, and set the maximum frame somewhere around 7.

This will bring up a list of results that occur in delays and frames near your target. What you need to do with this is look at what you got for your egg's IVs, and try to find a match on the adjacent results list. If you can't find it, try regenerating the results with broader parameters.

Once you find it, check the delay, second and frame of the spread. Usually, the second will be the same as your target, but it's always good to check. For the frame, if it is anything greater than 1, you know you need to resave, as the NPC is moving just as you open the game. Then repeat this process until find yourself on the right frame. If your frame and is correct, all you need to do is keep SRing to hit your delay.

After each (re)save, go through this process with the first few SRs to ensure you're hitting your frame correctly, then just continue SRing until you hit your delay.

I hope this helps :)

EDIT: @Skymin_Flower: try VMing Mingot about it, he might be able to iron out some of the bugs. Alternatively, you could always try Bootcamp with XP or something; I'd imagine XP is pretty cheap now.

Maybe a stupid question, but is your initial seed always the same? VM me the answer pplease, as I'm not always checking this post

Hi guys,

I just started to RNG. I planned to breed a shiny eevee. So I did my 339 happines taps (I don't like it), and 7 coin flips. I dropped my Vaporeon and my ditto at the Day-Care. AR'd instant egg and fast hatch and... It wasn't shiny. I did my taps and flips in the resort area, where there are some moving npc's. Do they influence my frame? If yes, where do need to do my taps & flips then. If no, what have I done wrong (Prolly counting...)

Ok first of all, i would go to the survival area, and catch pokemon in the grass to the right of it. No moving NPCs there. Second of all, do NOT use the instant egg code. Fast hatch is fine, but do not use instant egg. Thirdly, I would recommend using International parents as it requires a lot less tapping (I got one shiny egg where i only had to do 66 happines taps ^^)

Hope I helped and good luck! :)

Im trying to get a shiny flawless pokemon. I changed my delay to 600 to 1000. Should I change the month and year to acommpany this?
As I told you yesterday, you first NEED to know your SID if you want to get a shiny anything. Secondly, we need to know if you're going to abuse an egg or try to catch a wild pokemon. And again, if it's a wild pokemon then there is a very slim chacne your game can get a shiny flawless in the wild.

Were you ever in the sandstorm area since you entered the game (to catch the wild pokemon, do any flips, etc)? If so, that is what most likely messed you up. If not, then you probably just miscounted your taps since NPCs don't effect the IRNG's frame advancement, just the RNG's frames.

hey in dpp egg abuse,if i have a save frame of 5 and one of the npc's move will it change to 6,or how can i get in to be even, and i have no third gen game

So I have another question. For Roamers youre supposed to advance the frame to the target frame (Like if Latias' spread is on frame 23, you keep calling elm 23 times) but for Method K Legends, youre supposed to advance your frame until youre one frame behind the target frame, So what frame are you supposed to advance to for Method 1? 1 Frame behind the target frame or the target frame itself? This kind of confused me.

your always supposed to advance to the number of frames before you release/pick up the pokemon since the act of releasing/picking up the Pokemon advances the RNG, For example, the roamers are method 1 Pokemon, so if your RNG Raikou (who has a monster frame of 1) at Burned Tower then you advance to the frame right before your target frame then release it to get that last frame advancement you need.

Does the rain in route 215 in platinum mess up the IRNG like the sandstorm does, or is it perfectly fine?

@Jones: People will get to you when they can. But for your question, inserting/removing a 3rd gen GBA game doesn't effect the frame, but the delay. As for chaging the frame from even to odd you'll just have to wait for a NPC to move. Just note that even if you can't see the cowgirl on the screen, their movement still effects the frame. It's usually just easier to go find a spread that matches your calibrated frame (as far as even/odd goes).

No, 3rd gen game only affect odd/even of delay. The frame is not fixed and it always start at 1, affected by the many NPC movements in the town.

So just change your target frame

ok sorry about that :)
another question:if i have a save frame of 5,when i go and find a spread and how much frames i should advance, wont it give me a even frame, which if say i get a frame of 14.so that would be 14-5=9 how do i advance those 9 frames, since the journal advances 2 frame's per flip

You have 3 options:
1) Wait roughly 1/2 a second in hopes that only 1 NPC advances the frame by 1.
2) Choose a different spread, which in your case would need to be an odd number so your journal flips will hit the frame exactly where you need it to. Probably your best option.
3) Re-save and calibrate again in hopes of an even starting frame. This probably takes the longest.
walking 128 steps will increase frame by # of pokes in your party.
This is true, but taking 128 steps in Solaceon=screwing up your frame due to all the NPCs moving along with the advancement you'd be making yourself.
