Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

Firstly, and obviously, each generation can trade with itself, like Red and Blue or FireRed and Sapphire.

Secondly, the 1st gen and 2nd gen games can trade with each other through the time machine in the Pokemon Centers in 2nd gen games. However, only gen 1 Pokemon with gen 1 moves can be traded, which means no sweet scent, no waterfall, etc.

Thirdly, the GameCube RPG games can trade with any 3rd gen game, but the traded Pokemon can't be Shadow Pokemon unless they've been purified.

Finally, actual "trade" between 3rd and 4th gen games is impossible, but it is possible to migrate 6 Pokemon at a time from a 3rd gen cartridge game to the Pal Park of a 4th gen game. (These Pokemon can never go back to the original game.)

Thanks, but I guess that means I'm out of luck. I want high quality Pokémon in R/B/Y, but the mechanics are so odd that I have no idea how I could tell if a Pokémon was good or not before training it to level 100 and having it participate in an ungodly amount of fights. I can't really get the Dodrio Gameboy in Pokémon Stadium without said Pokémon so that won't be able to help me. I was hoping that by some strange method I could either trade for or Pokésav a good generation 1 Pokémon with the best (generation 1) moves and stats in generation 4 and get it back to R/B/Y. But I guess it wouldn't work thanks to IVs, EVs, natures and such.

Zacchaeus:

Pokémon in the Game Boy games are considerably different from Pokémon in the GBA and DS games. For one thing, Game Boy Pokemon use DVs and stat experience, whereas Pokemon in later versions use individual values, effort values, and additionally, natures and abilities. Especially EVs don't correspond one-to-one with stat experience, which was part of the reason why Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire was incompatible with Pokemon Gold and Silver in those days.

How can I determine the DVs of a Pokémon in RBY without gaining maximum stat experience and leveling up to 100? Why is it that in the R/B/Y Smogon analyses, only one stat is shown for each of a Pokémon's base stats, instead of showing a minimum and maximum?

I don't know about the first question, but for the second question, my guess is because the stats assume max DV's, as well as because of the lack of natures.
Where can I find an explanation of what "Stage 3," "standard," "suspect," and the like mean?

Standard means the OU metagame. http://smogon.com/dp/tiers/ou. Suspect is the place pokemon are put to test if they are too powerful for OU. "Stage #" is the how far along the suspect testing process is.

This page has some good information. I don't know what you're referring to with "Stage 3" but "standard" is the OU tier, and "suspect" is the OU tier except it has a slight change to see how the OU tier would respond with that change, such as the removal of Salamence in Suspect while it was still allowed in OU or standard.

Question! In Pokémon Stadium, are any Pokémon banned at any point (not including level restrictions or generation 2-4 Pokémon) in-game? If so, which Pokémon are banned and from which modes are they banned?

Bans per se do not exist, but there is always the possibility of restricting a cup due to minimum levels a pokemon can be caught. And even so, if you use the Mew glitch to catch a L10 Articuno you can use it in pika cup (I did myself). Also, you could say that in petit cup every pokemon of a certain weight and height is "banned"

Edit: Mew and Mewtwo are banned in every cup except Prime.

QUESTION! I was checking the RBY analyses and found that there are no movesets that include Gen. 1 moves that can only be learned in Gen. 2 by either breeding or due to differences in TMs/tutors. ( I used to have an Aerodactyl with EQ and a Starmie with both Thunder wave and Confuse Ray ) Is there any reason for that?

Well I'm trying to make a R/B/Y dream team and I'm not sure if I should include Mewtwo. I will definitely include Mewtwo if it's not banned in Stadium but if it is banned I will have to think of something else.

Edit: Thanks poccil, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find accurate R/B/Y information

Zacchaeus:

In Pokemon Stadium, the following restrictions apply:

Pika Cup - Mew is ineligible
Petit Cup - Mew is ineligible. Maximum height 2 meters, maximum weight 20 kg.
Poké Cup - Mew and Mewtwo are ineligible.
Prime Cup - All Pokémon are eligible.

Hello

I haven't battled much on wifi on so much, but I think I'd like to get involved in the wifi competitive scene, just to see how high competition is. I remember playing a guy named Anthrax, he's really good, I know about ev's natures iv's etc, but felt a bit bitter after saying my pokemon sucked and so I worked harder to improve

Is there a thread that is dedicated to wifi players from UK, or is it just that u can play anybody from anywhere without worrying about connection issues because some of the time my router may d/c and I get this when playing people from far away (USA yes you!)

I hope to get better and improve myself with more battle experience, and learn about pokemon terms (like sub-scarf raikou or whatever lol)
Thanks

AZ

Hello,

I have soemwhat a strange question. This morning I wrote a RMT Article, but when I try to post it then the layout is messed up. I wrote it in Microsoft Word and when I copy it to the Forum, everything goew rong! Can anyone tell me how to solve this?

Thanks in advance

az uk: there is a wifi sub forum, and in it there is a battle me thread, where you can ask for battles, and someone who is online now will battle you. you can find it here

jhonny: there was someone who managed to do it with the pokewalker, but no one else could and the thread was locked. So probably no

biolizard: the bolding, colors, etc work differently, you cant indent, and pictues have to have the [.img] [/img] (without the .) tags around them. Other wise it should be fine.

How are you supposed to get 6 ivs at 31 without hacking?

Surely breeding a pokemon with 6 ivs at 31 is mathematically slim to non let alone time consuming? Any tips for achieving this with simply using the game rather than programs? (I am aware of the items which pass on ivs).

Everstone=ivs. Most people here RNG abuse or have really high ivd parents and soft reset alot. Power items will allow you to pass 1 iv

So basically usless you use a computer program you cannot really get a pokemon with max ivs unless you wait months and months per pokemon?

Not necessarily. If you can get a hold of a max IV Ditto(just look in trade threads, there should be some) it´s possible in less than a week. At least I got a Medicham with maxIV except for HP and SpDef that way.

Other than that, I think flawlessness is not necessary. Just get speed and the atk stat of choice to 31 and the other stats between 25 and 31(at least 20)

Hello everyone. I was asking myself a question lately, if someone could help.. ^^.

I was wondering, about the Victini Event that will be released when Black and White will be out. It is said that only japanese could get the No 000 Pokemon on Nintendo WiFi. But what if I have a japanese cartridge of Black or White, can I get Victini on WiFi as well, or is it impossible due to geographic issues ?

Thanks by advance for answering ^^.

It is most likely that the WiFi event will be exclusive to the network in Japan, judging by past events, so yes there is a geographic issue. Or you could be patient, it's entirely possible that they could hold the same event in the USA or Europe.
Actually, this is wrong--most Wi-Fi events in Japan can be accessed even in North America or Europe, so long as you have a Japanese copy of the game. I've done that myself with my Japanese copies of Platinum and HeartGold to get the Japanese Wi-Fi events without any problems, and I know that others have a well. So, I presume that it will be a similar situation with Victini, and that so long as you have a Japanese copy of the game, you should be able to get it without any problems.

There are a lot of mistakes in the R/B/Y analyses. By this point, are they all set in stone?

Also, where can I find the tool that allows you to enter your team of 6 Pokémon and it tells you all the weaknesses and resistances of your team as a whole?
