Want to see your Original sprites on the X-Box Live Arcade?

My concept for the penguin.

Sorry, but no.

Me again, made the adult solar Peacock.

I can fix the coloring if you want.

The perspective of the tail fathers/shield thing on the back is wrong... its like facing directly toward the viewer while the rest of the creature is facing completely to the left... I also think the wing should be folded down by its side...

Doran if you want to mess with it based on these that is fine but none of them are truthfully things that I noticed or particularly care about. Its up to you though.

EDIT: The outline along the bottom of the bottom right corner of the sprite is pretty jagged. It could maybe use some smoothing.

As for Dhjona's last point that you commented on, you are absolutely right. We want a much more logical maturation than poke'mon provides. The charmeleon to charizard evolution (as well as dratini to dragonite) is exactly an example we use for justifying this decision because it just makes no logical sense. We want a more... scientifically sound game.

Also in this case if we give the adult a frill like a cobra then we just have a copy of ekans and arbok which we also really don't want to do.

Thanks to everyone though for being involved!

I truly get your point and I'm glad you guys are doing it this way. Like you said, it makes more sense. When they are growing into the adult form it's just like in the real animal world. I was just giving a suggestion though and didn't knew this.

Tonight I will start working on the sea turtle (was too busy these days -.-sigh).

@the solar peacock: John is right and the shading is way off. The concept is okay but it could use more detail more things to make it stand out of a normal peacock.

I'm really sorry about dissapointing all of you, so here's something to make it up to you:

picture.php
Instead of folding both wings, I put both up. I'm not too sure about the shading, I wish I knew how to do it right... I can change the top wing if you want, but other than that, I feel really good about it! :D I fixed the tail issue, redid the shading, changed the coloration, and added the light symbols for detail! Hope you like it! lol

Fixed the shading and the outline:

Tell me what you think! :D

Umm.... yeah the pink really isn't working. Also the tail looks better but the rest of the body is still facing just straight to the side... For this sprite (and for all of your future ones since this has been a trend) you should try and bring the head and body to a diagonal instead of just a full on side shot. The outline is still pretty dark in places where it shouldn't be and the yellow... stuff? on the sides is more distracting than anything. Also I think the wings really should be folded down by the side.

:/ Sorry!

Thanks, I understand. If my sprite has that long of a complaint list, I know I can improve on it! lol I feel like I'm learning a lot from doing this project. so, as I have said before, and will say again, I'll try harder! :D

Well here's the cockroach nymph. I decided to make a slightly "tamer" creature, so the baby cockroach hasn't been completely taken over by the atomic mutations yet.

Cool! There are some minor issues but nothing I cant just take care of in QC. Thanks dude! Your work is great! Can't wait to see what you might come up with next!

Good news guys, I got my MacBook in. Bad news, it doesn't support Paint.Net. Currently I will be using a program called ArtRage (or something like that) while at school. It should work, albeit be slightly harder to manipulate than the alternatives...

On the creation side of things, I am almost finished with the Earth Bull sprite. In addition, I have finalized my Adult & Baby Osprays, and I have drawn rough sketches of what will be an Earth Roc (e.g., giant mythical bird, not the rocks in the ground) I'll see if I can't get pictures up sometime tomorrow.

Also, sincxe I think you may have missed my question earlier, is there anything I can do with this design since Electric Snake has been taken? Maybe I could make it more human-like and call it a Shadow Naga? Just a thought.

Dude. You have got to do me a favor and actually look @ the concepts list. I have been lenient so far but you are literally working on nothing from any of the lists... The project team put those lists together for a reason. Thanks dude! (this just gets them off my back, thanks again!)

Here's the thing about that. My school's internet does not allow me to get onto Smogon, so that when I do happen to draw something, I have to go with what I have in my head. Also, I just did not realize that sticking to the lists were that big of a deal, since as of yet I have been able to do such art as the Water Ocelot. Note: This is not a negative post, and I am not insulting your team in any way as I write this. Just stating my reasoning behind this.

EDIT: And by nothing, you apparently have not noticed the fact that I mentioned the Water Ospray in there as well? +)

Anyways, here's some art. Note: These pictures were taken using my new iPhone 4!!!

Ospray Adult (Note: That is a giant rip in the page, not part of the art.)

Earth Roc is below, if'n you'd like to see it.
This critter actually has a bit of story behind it's lifecycle. The baby starts off life by claiming the bones of its deceased parents, who died giving birth to it, thus giving it a more menacing appearance. As it's body develops, it soon gets to the point where it no longer needs the protection of the bones and then discards them to reveal itself.

If you have any second thoughts about the critter, just tell me. +)
Also, would these poses be alright for spriting purposes? I would like to know before I pull another Atomic Wasp/Firefly...

Also, I call the Fire Lobster/Crawfish or whatever it is. I have been wanting to do one of those. +)

Cubone: Cubone appears to be a small, brown theropod-like Pokémon, that constantly wears a skull (supposedly the skull of its mother) like a helmet.

It originally grew it's skin over the deceased animal and evolved into said animal. e.g., it was a completely different creature that picked up bones it finds from previous life on the planet and uses them as evolutionary tokens to grow into the deceased critter. I decided to go away from this idea since it seemed too radical for the game, but if it feels more original, they can use this instead.

Also, @Jon, it is easily possible that I could alter the Roc to make it a Shadow Vulture, since the creature already resembles one, being a carrion bird.

Did a WIP of the Solar Peacock, just making sure you like it, but sadly, in doing it, I nearly destroyed my entire concept... :(

picture.php
I will alter the tail feathers if you want.

@Axl: I like the story, but it sounds a bit similar to cubone's, but other than that, I like it! :D

This is already off to a much better start!

@Djhona: I like the sea turtle. The only thing I'd recommend from an iPhone standpoint is to change the Yellow to Blue. Right now It looks more like an Electric type, IMO.

@Studio534: I feel ignored. :(
