Looking at these spreadsheets given for capturing Pokemon, which one is the seed? Is it the Offset?
I'm trying to learn how to RNG egg IVs, and I need some help hitting my delays.
I consistently hit 14 seconds and between 600-620 delay on my Platinum, but I've having a terrible time hitting a specific delay. Like, one time I was trying to hit 609, and I actually managed to hit 607 and then 611(I always get odd delays).. So, yeah, I just can't get it right. For some reason, my computer won't open Pikatimer, so I've just been trying to get lucky(and obviously had no luck).
Also, in regards to egg IVs, is it generally easier for beginners to start RNGing in DPPt or HGSS? Or is it all about the same level of difficulty?
Yeah, I figured I needed to update JAVA.. Do you know where I can get the latest version?i dont know anything about DPPt so i think HGSS is easier but you need the lastest version of JAVA to open the .JAR file it comes in ( i was having the same problem lol) but when you get it, dont keep updating it, like if you come with in 2 or 4 or even 6 from your delay, dont update it because if you update it, that means you have to do everything EXACTLY like your last run. And if you want even delays, you can either throw in a game to you bottom slot (ds lites only), change the year up or down one, or if you have enough time go to the where the wifi settings are and mystery gift just make it so you are looking at the bottom 3 things then go back to the top and push start when your supposed to. People make RNGing much easier than it really is. I usually spend about an hour hitting my seed and time and I have been doing it for a couple of weeks now (not saying its a lot but i know what im doing for the most part :D) Ohh ya and hitting a specific delay is the hardest part about RNGing!!
I thought HGSS might be easier, since there're less wandering NPS, and the IVs are inherited differently and such. I'll try to learn how to RNG on my SS first, then. =)cannibal: HG/SS is easier to RNG for eggs. Capturing is dependent on how you like to advance the frame (I prefer HG/SS radio but others provide the safety of journal flips :P).
In any case, if you're not using pikatimer, then you're restricted to emloop and that means for egg IVs you need 1 specific delay to start off. Calibrate again and this time mash "a" as fast as possible without stopping once emloop's timer reaches 0. Do this until you find what specific delay you hit teh most often. For example, mine was 602. I hit that 6/10 times for when I was doing emloop.
Other than that, yeah, expect some frustration. The end result is well worth it though :)
Hmm.. If you're getting the right nature, but not the shininess, it probably means you've either entered your SID incorrectly, or selected the wrong option for international/normal. (Ccorrect me if I'm wrong)every time when i do taps for shiny pokemon i only get the nature for it but almost never the shinyness. help please?

that's why i soft reset. but the thing is it happened to my magnemite once then i got taps and flips of 5 and 3 pretty lucky so it's probably not my sid or id
This post should have it all: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2559264&postcount=2
Basically, because the frame advancement is inconsistent, you'd want to verify what frame you're on by calling Elm. You can disregard Joey calls.
I use Pokemon Talk 14-18frame advancements since that's the highest one, but I always calculate with 18frames in mind so I don't overshoot it.
514frames. So I'd probably do the radio 25times to advance the frame to under 450. Then I verify what frame I'm on exactly with elm calls. If it's close enough so that I can do Elm calls to reach it, then fine. If not...I'd probably do a few more radio until I get to about 490-500 and stop there and rely on Elm.
Using the old/good/super rod in HGSS advances the frame by 1 right? So if my target frame is 52, I should advance the frame to 51 then use the rod?
You are MUCH better off with elm calls if you want to go one at a time! Also joey calls go 2 at a time but not on mondays. The rods only advance if you dont catch anything so if you do idk what it does. Plus with elm calls you can follow the main screen in RNG reporter to make sure your hitting everything and you dont have to count! Just press the down arrow everytime you do a call! MUCH more consistent AND reliable! Good Luck!
It advances it by 4 last time I used so use this value for now. This may be different for your game but it tends to be the value most people get. So, stop at frame 48.Using the old/good/super rod in HGSS advances the frame by 1 right? So if my target frame is 52, I should advance the frame to 51 then use the rod?
