Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Looking at these spreadsheets given for capturing Pokemon, which one is the seed? Is it the Offset?

no you get the PID and enter it into pandoras box (assuming your ID/SID abusing) and then you pick and ID/SID and then you put into wichu's program and THEN you get your seed. Then the fun part :D (total sarcasm)

I'm trying to learn how to RNG egg IVs, and I need some help hitting my delays.

I consistently hit 14 seconds and between 600-620 delay on my Platinum, but I've having a terrible time hitting a specific delay. Like, one time I was trying to hit 609, and I actually managed to hit 607 and then 611(I always get odd delays).. So, yeah, I just can't get it right. For some reason, my computer won't open Pikatimer, so I've just been trying to get lucky(and obviously had no luck).

Also, in regards to egg IVs, is it generally easier for beginners to start RNGing in DPPt or HGSS? Or is it all about the same level of difficulty?

i dont know anything about DPPt so i think HGSS is easier but you need the lastest version of JAVA to open the .JAR file it comes in ( i was having the same problem lol) but when you get it, dont keep updating it, like if you come with in 2 or 4 or even 6 from your delay, dont update it because if you update it, that means you have to do everything EXACTLY like your last run. And if you want even delays, you can either throw in a game to you bottom slot (ds lites only), change the year up or down one, or if you have enough time go to the where the wifi settings are and mystery gift just make it so you are looking at the bottom 3 things then go back to the top and push start when your supposed to. People make RNGing much easier than it really is. I usually spend about an hour hitting my seed and time and I have been doing it for a couple of weeks now (not saying its a lot but i know what im doing for the most part :D) Ohh ya and hitting a specific delay is the hardest part about RNGing!!

Plusle: Make sure it's not the PID or something else? lol, other than that, not sure why.

cannibal: HG/SS is easier to RNG for eggs. Capturing is dependent on how you like to advance the frame (I prefer HG/SS radio but others provide the safety of journal flips :P).
In any case, if you're not using pikatimer, then you're restricted to emloop and that means for egg IVs you need 1 specific delay to start off. Calibrate again and this time mash "a" as fast as possible without stopping once emloop's timer reaches 0. Do this until you find what specific delay you hit teh most often. For example, mine was 602. I hit that 6/10 times for when I was doing emloop.

Other than that, yeah, expect some frustration. The end result is well worth it though :)

Yeah, I figured I needed to update JAVA.. Do you know where I can get the latest version?

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has trouble hitting delays. ^__^;

I thought HGSS might be easier, since there're less wandering NPS, and the IVs are inherited differently and such. I'll try to learn how to RNG on my SS first, then. =)

I'm not really familiar with emploop, but I suppose I could try to figure it out, if I can't find a way to make Pikatimer work.

Thanks for the advise, guys. =)
every time when i do taps for shiny pokemon i only get the nature for it but almost never the shinyness. help please?
Hmm.. If you're getting the right nature, but not the shininess, it probably means you've either entered your SID incorrectly, or selected the wrong option for international/normal. (Ccorrect me if I'm wrong)

You can use this link here. All i did was type "java" into google and it was the first one. Ya I =, of all people, know its kinda frustrating to look at someones thread that takes up a whole page with pokemon (although its usually just redis) but you just gotta hang in there because its not happening over night.

BTW: can someone explain EXACTLY how the radio advances frames? like i have a snorlax and my frame is 514 and elm and joey can kiss my ass. So it looks like its up to the radio but i just dont quite get it. Help? :)

This post should have it all: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2559264&postcount=2

Basically, because the frame advancement is inconsistent, you'd want to verify what frame you're on by calling Elm. You can disregard Joey calls.

I use Pokemon Talk 14-18frame advancements since that's the highest one, but I always calculate with 18frames in mind so I don't overshoot it.

514frames. So I'd probably do the radio 25times to advance the frame to under 450. Then I verify what frame I'm on exactly with elm calls. If it's close enough so that I can do Elm calls to reach it, then fine. If not...I'd probably do a few more radio until I get to about 490-500 and stop there and rely on Elm.

no i did it with my magnemite, so i did my taps but no shiny, i had to get new taps and it worked so i'm pretty sure that's not it.

If every single time you're doing taps and you're always getting the nature/gender/ability but not the shiny then it's your SID/ID. Check it again to be sure.

The only other thing I can think of is you're getting lucky on the nature and you miscounted your taps (taps for shininess without Shiny Finder can go up so high, haha).

that's why i soft reset. but the thing is it happened to my magnemite once then i got taps and flips of 5 and 3 pretty lucky so it's probably not my sid or id

maybe you calculated wrong? like frame how many or maybe an NPC or maybe something random like you walked through a door or something

No, egg shininess is on a different counter than NPC movement methinks. And you have to walk through a door to get to the old lady anyways.

I suspect you counted wrong then if it's not your ID/SID combo. Also, when doing taps, make sure to go from the happiness straight to the coin. Don't stop anywhere.

THANK YOU btw and Im jsut brain storming as i know literally NOTHING about DPPt and im gonna kill my latias (so i can RNG later) then im gonna get me that SNORLAX!!!!!!!

Using the old/good/super rod in HGSS advances the frame by 1 right? So if my target frame is 52, I should advance the frame to 51 then use the rod?

You are MUCH better off with elm calls if you want to go one at a time! Also joey calls go 2 at a time but not on mondays. The rods only advance if you dont catch anything so if you do idk what it does. Plus with elm calls you can follow the main screen in RNG reporter to make sure your hitting everything and you dont have to count! Just press the down arrow everytime you do a call! MUCH more consistent AND reliable! Good Luck!

ok I doubt he's using the fishing rod to advance frames,he just has to use it to catch the Pokemon.

Using the old/good/super rod in HGSS advances the frame by 1 right? So if my target frame is 52, I should advance the frame to 51 then use the rod?
It advances it by 4 last time I used so use this value for now. This may be different for your game but it tends to be the value most people get. So, stop at frame 48.

4th gen is much easier to RNG anything in, if you just have the game itself. Emerald emulators would probably make it a lot easier, but I wouldn't know.

Radio Seed is a program made by MinusOne (see first page of this thread) for verifying seed as well as searching for which frame you're currently at in a given seed. The latter is mainly what I used Radio Seed for, when I am trying to get to a high frame, where I use radio (Pokemon Talk station to advance 14-18 frames at a time - use that to get to frames in the thousands quickly) until I know I'm somewhere near my target frame, and then I call Prof Elm to check back with Radio Seed to see which frame I am at.

Hope that helps. There are other things in Radio Seed too (like verifying seed and frame searching via radio instead of calling Prof Elm) which I have not used yet (I've only started RNGing a couple weeks ago).
