Pokemon Black and White (SPECULATIONS ALLOWED HERE)

The fake scan could be edited from a real scan, or be from a different magazine. The art of Chaobuu is identical to that in the supposed real scan; the content of the scan is probably real.

EDIT: CRASHiC, have a look at page 29.

I actually like all the starters a lot, and I think Mijumaru3 looks pretty badass. There should have been better typings for them, but they will probably get some new moves to compensate.

Is anyone else excited about those quadrupeds and the "Raijin Trio" Melkor talked about? I'm psyched!

Was a bit skeptical of some of these designs before the interview came out explaining the whole "new continent, new ecosystem" concept. I really like that as a theme, so I'm not complaining even if it would have been cool to get evos of Luvdisc, Delibird, Dunsparce etc. We'll probably get a lot of pr/evos next Gen, if there is a next Gen!

I was also a bit turned off by the starter evos when they were first leaked, but I've really warmed to them when the interview talked about the concepts being Western design for Tsutaja's line (its Stage 2 clearly borrows a lot from Age of Enlightenment/Baroque designs and Celtic design), Chinese design for Pokabu's line (you can definitely tell with its Stage 2, which looks like a bona fide monster from Chinese mythology), and Japanese design for Mijumaru's line (again, you can tell with the samurai theme and the line/curve dynamic in the design).

I'm taking Melkor's leaked list on face value as he's been right far too often now for us to ignore his unconfirmed information.

Really loving all these designs, and really loving the rennaissance of Grass types... more Grasses in OU, please!

That's the exact same scan

Those two pages I believe were ripped out of the main CoroCoro magazine (I believe Pages 10 to 31 of the booklet may actually contain the manga they said would be in this issue) and not within the booklet which information generally has been included within. As such, like Liam said, they'd have to be pulled out. You can see the rip in the top right as I've noted before and people posted here. The images were then put into the scanner the wrong way round causing this confusion.

Besides, Chaobuu is in one of the "normal" scans anyway with the same art so...

I thought Melkor corrected himself, the "Raijin" trio are actually the "Genie" trio. Where he got Raijin, I don't know, but Genie makes more sense given the typings.

@Pux: Actually, I hate to be picky because either way their basis could be up in the air, but Tsutarja's line, especially visibly in Tsutarja3, were probably more inspired by French aristocrats. One of the designers cited "The Rose of Versailles", a manga about... French aristocrats, and the subdued colors and curly vines on Tsutarja3 really match up with it. Tsutarja also, interestingly, has a "fleur de lis" on its back.

On p.33, can anyone tell me why there's an Aerodactyl/what the text means? I'm just curious as I thought there were no old pokemon.

You're wrong. As much as I want it to, there aren't any evolutions or pre-evolutions for any old Pokémon.
Mamanbou isn't Luvdisc's evolution
Baffuron isn't Tauros' evolution
And Yooterii and Basurao is definetly not Growlithe's and Carvanha's respective pre-evolutions. Yoterii got two evolutions.

Sry, I missed the Yoterii thingy.
But for the others, how do you know? How do you know that there aren't any evolutions or prevos of old pokemon? There was a rumor, but that was unconfirmed. Also, if it is true, than that's a pretty big piece of information. I would assume that it would be included in Coro coro. How can they not have any old pokemon? How can GF make a game without Tentacool?

Well, Raijin does make sense for pure Flying and Electric/Flying.

By the way, the new fossils sound awesome.

564: Archelon Fossil Pokémon. Blue body and grey shell. Amazing design. Water / Rock Type.

565: Archelon Fossil Pokémon. Bigger body, stands on two legs and has an armor/shell of rock. Bulky Water candidate? Water / Rock Type.

566: Archaeopteryx Fossil Pokémon. A Rock / Flying bird with yellow, red and blue feathers.

567: Archaeopteryx Fossil Pokémon. The bird has become bigger and fiercer. Its head is now green/red coloured. Rock / Flying Type.

Curse the cliche that fossils must be part rock. Water/Steel would've been so awesome (I know, Empoleon, stfu).

Well, not really for pure Flying, since the Raijin's whole gimmick is being a lightning god thing... Unless they were supposed to be Raijin/Suijin/Fuujin, but then there's nothing Suijin which would obviously be part Water, without a doubt, so...

@Pux: Well, he also said Shikijika doesn't evolve. I'm sure Basurao will evolve at least once. Probably only once.

wait. Ononokusu is pure dragon-type? is this it's final stage or not, since most of the dragon types have a secondary type

A bit of a shame that according to Melkor, Basurao doesn't evolve. Weird...

I think Basurao is the Black & White Qwilfish.

Anyway...

Decent Attack + Waterfall + Rain Dance + Choice Band + Adaptability = OUCH!

Yes, it's final stage. Yes, is pure dragon.

Well, I feel like his design doesn't warrant being a non-evolving Basic - a bit plain. But wev.

I'm wondering what will be the super-common surfing Pokemon if we're not getting Tentacool until the end of the game. Doubt it's Basurao. Gah, excite! Hopefully Melkor will gift us some more info later today or tomorrow.

Lol, I love the stoned water ape.

Anyone know why Zorua and Zoroark are apparently found in two different places? I hope we aren't having another Manaphy / Phione situation.

Well, Pokexperto... said they would end up pure Grass and pure Water. Disgusting. I'm OKAY with the evolutions, I am, it's just the typings that are insane, like they handpicked the most boring ones.

I am pretty pissed about the typing combinations too. :\ I guess it is fair in the way that they reused 3 starter combinations so no starter would get an "unfair advantage".

*cough* Dialga is Steel/Dragon *cough*

Isnt Afro Break kind of a racist move? What about Aloe, black woman dressed like a cook looking like an 18th century slave woman.

Call me a Negative Nancy if you'd like but didnt Gamefreak/Nintendo/Pokemon/whatever got sued back years ago just becouse Jinx had black skin?

See Bulbagarden's "On the Orgin of Species: Jynx" for more info.

One culture's normal activity is another's taboo.

Anyways, all the starters look better in the art shown. Miju2 especially. Still using Mijumaru for the version I get.

And what is with the whole diner dash theme? I mean Aloe is a cook and Dento/co gym leaders look like waiters. Is this a subtlety that Game Freak implemented because Americans are fat?

There are no old Pokémon pre-National Pokédex.
I want new evolutions too, but the designers said in Poké Pia that there were none.
Convinced?

Aloe is actually museum curator I think. The town she's in is also named after some kind of metal working or something.

Has anyone figured out what "Dent" is supposed to be from? "Cone" and "Pod" are related to plants but I have no idea what Dent is supposed to be from.

I think someone said it before, but I will laugh my ass off if Aloe gets Buffron.
