Hey, guys. I'm planning to C&C a four-legged Fire type for OU, and I have two choices: Arcanine or Entei. Which one do you think would be better utilized in OU?

I'm considering both of them because of Flare Blitz and Extremespeed, both of which are pretty potent moves to get rid of common Pokemon such as Scizor, Starmie, and Flygon. Entei has the general hand when it comes to base stats, Arcanine can boost Flare Blitz with Flash Fire, has Intimidate to soften Physical attacks like Scizor Punch, and less extensively Morning Sun.

Whereas Entei has generally higher stats and a reliable 100 base Speed and slightly higher Attack, Arcanine seems to have more options going for it in terms of its abilities: Intimidate and Flash Fire.

BTW I'm planning on using Physical Life Orb.

I don't recomend using Entei in OU. Its lack of a decent physical STAB move makes it a poor choice, especially if compaired with Arcanine. Even if Entei has more attack than Arcanine, its physical movepool is pretty limited and can't really hurt something. Also, Intimidate is one of the best trait in OU, just like Flash Fire, so I suggest you Arcanine.

both have shitty movepools and remember entei has more natural bulkness. i would sugest entei since he is a bit more reliable(overall higher stats) but if you need intimidate or a fire moves absorber(flash fire) then stick with arcanine.

I just got confused while reading my book (yeah random).
When will the Arceus analysis page start uploading some of the finished analysis? (ofc approximately)

Can you get your SiD from the red gyrados in hg/ss?
You can, but you have to capture it multiple times. (Save, catch, reset, catch, etc.) This is because it's created using the same process as chained shinies.

After you catch it, determine its IVs and enter them in RNG Reporter's Chain to SID function, it'll give you possibilities. Keep repeating the process until you narrow it down to a single number.

This is a battling question. Here's the scenario:

The opponent is leading with a Heatran. My lead loses to it, so I decide to switch out to my bulky DD Gyarados. The opposing lead uses Fire Blast/Earth Power/Stealth Rock/whatever move that doesn't hurt my Gyarados too much.

Now, one of two things could happen: the opponent could switch out, or explode. But let's say for the sake of the scenario that it's going to switch out.

When I know absolutely nothing about the opponent's team other than their lead, what is the best decision to make?

Do I:

1) Use a Dragon Dance

2) Use an attacking move like Waterfall

3) Try a double switch to something that counters Gyarados counters or a scout

Any input would be greatly appreciated! More than one person can reply!

Waterfall/other attacking move. Trying to sweep that early will fail as most people go to Rotom-A/Vaporeon/Suicune/etc and immediately force you out. At least with Waterfall/Stone Edge/EQ you can actually deal some damage.

Definitely attack first using Waterfall/SE/whatever, DDancing without scouting for counters first is just bad, pulling a double switch without knowing what Gyara counter they are using is also not recommended.

Thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind for any set-up attackers I use.

Another question:

What's better, Scarf Tyranitar or Scarf Scizor?

Would a careful ( +SpD -SpA ) No Guard Machamp 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def with Bulk Up, Dynamicpunch, Payback and Rest/ Stone Edge work well as a bulky offensive/defensive hitter ??

@ jad: post the rest of your team briefly. It depends on what yyou need to check with it.

@ choppermad: you can, because it is generated like chained shinies from DPP. As such, you need to capture it multiple times and reset without saving after recording its IVs, and then use the standard programs for finding the SID

@ selkiesFTW: I think so. I am not overly familiar with machamp, but confusion on the switch would definitely add to effective bulkiness. I just don't think it can take enough hits and has too low a speed stat to effectively be a booster.

it could work, machamps denfenses are good enough to make use out of them (90/80/85 isnt bad in OU) however machamp really lacks useful resistances(he got no horrible weaknesses either wich is good) and i would use a def boosting nature to get more out of the def boosts gained by bulkup.
maybe try a chesto rest set to gain as much boosts as possible and then rest away the status/damage and start sweeping wich should be working since fighting/dark got good coverage(dont know what it misses out in ou).

Perhaps, but maybe such a large defensive investment isn't required. Look at Curse sets on Smogon (Umbreon, Snorlax) and see how they are built to get a better idea of what an offensive/defensive boosting tank should be able to accomplish

Ok, so I'm getting this Torkoal with a quite nature (252 in S.Atk) and curse and amnesia, a fire move(most likely Flamethrower) and a physical move(most likely EQ). I'd go for Gyro ball but EQ has better coverage. Stone Edge is also an option or I could pick Iron defence instead of curse and use Earth Power. But anyway, my main question is: Should I go for 252 in hp or Sp. Def? with EV's it's Sp. Def is over 500 points higher at +6. But max hp also helps it's physical defence.
