Excadrill

exactly. you would have to compare it to a pokemon that plays the same role as doryuuzu.

horrible ex: doryuuzu compared to dugtrio.

...
You couldn't be more wrong about his speed.

I shouldn't have to say this but both of those pokemon do completely different things.

Um, no not really. He is able to attain a maximum of 302 speed with a beneficial nature, and when you think about it that's really not that bad compared to some other pokemon.

I was comparing them in terms of their bulkiness, which is one thing they share (both of them have very high base HP stats). But when it comes to overall bulk and defenses, hippowdon has him beat.

yea but the play different roles. thats like comparing shuckle and a tyranitar, and saying shuckles sweeping ability is horrible compared to Ttar. Obviously because one is used to sweep or be a tank while the other plays support.

However, what you've missed is that Doryuuzu has the ability Sand Throw, which doubles his speed in a Sandstorm, meaning, by just working together with a Hippowdon or Tyranitar, he's actually quite fast.

And it's true that Hippowdown is more bulky. However, Doryuuzu is meant to be a Sandstorm sweeper anyway, and not a tank like Hippo, so that's pretty irrelevant. And since Doryuuzu has much higher Attack and Speed than Hippowdown, it has no fear of being outclassed by it there. As has been said, they're really quite different Pokemon.

Oh, I never knew he got that ability O_O. That would certainly explain all the excitement everyone has about him.

Or Ninetales, Jolly Altaria, or Timid Golduck.
Altaria base 80
Golduck base 85
Doryuzu base 88

I give you ninetales (if she can switch in) but the other two are slower without scarf, and both of them scarfers dont look very threathing

It's assumed Doryuuzu will run Adamant, which means +speed Altaria and Golduck to in fact outspeed.

Timid Golduck and Altaria.

Would you use Jolly Doryuuzu?
If so (pointless by the way, unless you want to outspeed opposing Doryuuzu), ok.
If not... well, Golduck and Altaria will outspeed (though Altaria can't do much).

Edit: slapped in da face

Actually most Dorys I face on PO seem to be jolly, since I run jolly and I always lose the speed tie. Dory is such a common threat Jolly is entirely justified.

Alright you run Adamant and get outsped by every other Doryuuzu, have fun with that.

oh u speed creepers...

So, you all ditching every EV into speed and giving Jolly just to be able to have a 50% chance of attacking opponent's Doryuuzu with your own?
Rahter just bringing a counter in, like Magcargo or something.

Not much to say about this guy. Cool typing, huge attack, nice speed and ability, bad movepool. I'm sure at least one person noted all this.
Well, it's movepool is surely a letdown. Thank god, because it would be a disaster if this thing had a great movepool.

How exactly is Magcargo a counter with a x4 weakness to STAB LO +2 earthquake? >_>

How can't you feel my sarcasm?

Well, correct me if i'm wrong anyone, but i remember a +2 Jolly Rhyperior failing to OHKO some bulky waters on gen 4. This could mean a bulky water could come in and at least cripple this thing with Surf/ Boiling Water?

It's too late for me to do accurate calcs now...
