Zoroark

@R.B.G:

I've used that combo before, and boy howdy it screws over stall. Burengeru takes a +2 Grass Knot to the face comng in on "Infernape", KOing it, Nattorei dies to either one's Flamethrower, and Tentacruel can't take +2 Dark Pulses to the face and then wall my real Infernape as well (I haven't seen Tentacruel yet, oddly).

It's also pretty damn good against offensive teams as well, although Ropuushin is a pain, as it Mach Punches both of them to death easily and can take Zoroark's +2 Flamethrower.

Don't know if this has been touched on yet, but I just got one and did some tests.

It copies the LAST CURRENT pokemonin your party's appearance, gender, and name, not level, hp, moves, or type.
If the pokemon it copies is shiny, zoroark's copy will be shiny too.

I agree a lead set could be rather trippy. This thing is dying for a priority move. :/

Hey, it gets STAB sucker punch, and I find that pretty decent, I mean, once the oppononet relizes its a zoroark, I doubt theyl want it getting away to cause more damage later (or wasting time to status it) so I think sucker punch will add to the mind game part of this.

personally, I LOVE zoroark, I have always said pokemon is as much mind game as it is strategy and this seems to prove it, THANKS GAMEFREAK

I've been having quite a few problems with Zoroark lately. My opponents are sometimes really clever about what they disguise it as, which often nabs him a free kill or two.

On that same note, it's just as fun to employ this strategy yourself. I've been running the SD set I posted about earlier, and I'm absolutely in love with that STAB Sucker Punch. It's like a useful version of Absol. Ankle Sweep is a really bad coverage move, but at the same time, it's necessary for him to have a go-to immediate attack for defensive Pokemon.

I fought a Zoroark disguised as a Shedninja, which made sense, because Shedninja has to lead, other wise it dies to SR, since my lead couldn't hit it, I switched to my Mummy thing, and then it used sword dance, which still made sense, because Shedninja does use SD, so I stayed in to tank the hit and shadow ball the guy. But then it turns out it was Zoroark. So I got pwned...

pretty clever^^
but also pretty gimmicky since shedinja will be dead weight 90% of the time thanks to Sand Storm and entry hazards :/

Another thing that kept bothering about this guy, and it happened like 3 times already, always the same scenario.

I have Erufuun out on the field with sub up. The enemy switches in Onokusu and it gets leech seeded. I taunt Onokusu so it won't set up. Onokusu uses flame thrower and breaks my sub. Everytime this happened I was like "Onokusu goes mix?" then I am like "Why doesn't it use fire blast instead?" and then I'd be like "lol this is weird" and then I realize it's a Zoroark after I lose/won and I facepalm cuz it happened so many times already and I still can't process that into my brain.

:/

This is confusing.I thought that you had to show off your teams before the battle?Because showing your team before a battle pretty much makes Zoro useless.

What kind of battle was this?

Infrared battles do not let you rearrange your team (they have a forced autolevel to 50, though). And lol revealing your team has Zoroark doesn't make it any less useful, as now the opponent knows any of the other five pokémon you send out may be Zoroark. It could be actually better, if you know your shit.

Agreed, Zoroark is a pretty tricky pokemon to use.

I've been running Zoraork with Wobb as the last Poke in my party, which is quite helpful, because the opponent hardly ever switches out, letting me get a free kill with Night Burst, Flamethrower, or Focus Blast (I remember one funny game where my opponent kept being like, "wtf, since when does Wobbufett learn Flamethrower -- he was rather unobservant, but you get the point). So yeah, Zoraork has just been a really awesome Pokemon so far.

has anyone here tried escape button on zoroark?

I think it may be very viable on him, what is is is basically if the pokemon is hit, it gets a free switch (according to serebii)

has anyone tried it or used it?

also, whats the best mixed or most illusion (using) set?

One quick note to add here:

To all you n00bs who think of Night Burst as so great, think of this:

Zoroark is the only pokemon who learns night burst, so its a dead giveaway compared to the much more useful dark pulse

its like nintendo inserted a mini way of reducing n00b sucess with zoroark, which is really nice, but just think about that, thanks

Thing is, you're probably given away by the time you use Night Burst, usually because whatever you're imitating doesn't learn Nasty Plot. In addition, not that many things commonly use Dark Pulse without STAB. Most of the things that synergize well with Zoroark don't learn it at all (Infernape).

Hmmm...i guess your right in a sense, though I like to try to stay under cover as long as possible, so I kinda like it though IDK...

also, I have been talking about this, but does anyone else think that escape button zoroark has any use?

You say it as if the player's goal is to make Zoroark stay behind his Illusion for the entire match.

I was playing a stall match where there was lots of Sandstorm, entry hazards, and Leftovers going on at the end of every turn. I used Dragon Tail and Zoroark was forced in mid-turn... where it appeared as a Zoroark for a split second (but long enough to tell what it was) before being replaced with the sprite of something else. So I guess if you make PO do enough work during a particular turn, it won't hide Zoroark quickly enough.
