Registeel (Ubers Update)

This was done before and then removed. I'm gonna update it.

Topic Title: Registeel (Ubers)

[SET]

name: Ubers Tank
move 1: Thunder Wave
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: Ice Punch
move 4: Explosion
nature: Careful
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 24 Atk / 80 Def / 152 SpD

Why does this set deserve to be on site:

-Great defenses allow to take dragon hits with ease
-Can paralyse switches who come out of choiced dragon attacks.
-Stops some rayquaza, and can beat shaymin.
-Cripples dragons with t-wave, easy to pick out after
-Can also cripple fast sweepers like mewtwo (no sub or taunt)
-SR Provides support
-Extra bulk separates it from jirachi, can still cripple with para
-Can also blow up if needed at end.

Additional Comments:

-Can run iron head for iron flinch although jirachi better.
-Can put over SR
-EVs OHKOs ray after SR.
-Can run toxic for status
-Can explode if all is lost

Teammates and Counters:

-Kyogre, groudon, scizor can switch in easily, not too affected by para and have can do lots of damage.
-Rain from kyogre can weaken fire attacks making it very hard to take down.
-Palkia is good check for things that counter registeel.

Please comment.

Registeel in Ubers is underrated, and many good battlers have used it. When I used it, though, I used to have serious trouble with Double Dance Groudon players, so you should definitely mention Pokemon like Giratina for support.

Since Explosion's damage was halved, it's not completely useful anymore, so you should consider slashing stuff over it.

This was taken down by Ubers quality control because, while it can take hits well, it really can't do anything with it's measily offensive to Ubers. I mean, Darkrai isn't even OHKOed by it's Superpower (I know you don't actually have Superpower on here, just an example). Unless you can bring something new to the table over the Registeel that was on site previously this will most likely be rejected (for reference it was:

name: Ubers Support
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Thunder Wave
move 3: Ice Punch
move 4: Explosion
item: Leftovers
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 24 Atk / 80 Def / 152 SpD)

Yeah.. same exact set... It was removed for it's mediocrity so it's not going back up with the same set.

And mtr, these are 4th generation analyses, no 5th gen mechanics will be taken into account -_-

QC rejected 1/3.

Registeel is mostly outclassed by Jirachi who has higher Attack, recovery in Wish to heal itself, higher Speed. Jirachi's lack of a Fighting-weakness also allows it to check more things. (Unlike Registeel Jirachi can check Darkrai as it is not OHKOed by +2 LO D Pulse/Focus Blast with a defensive spread.)

The higher bulk does little as Jirachi already survives what it needs to and isn't Wobbuffet bait.

Jirachi takes far more damage from DM than registeel. Registeel can proved para support and let other teammates pick them off. It isn't meant to deal damage. However, I do understand the inferiority to jirachi (which even I would generally prefer).

You also forget that Jirachi has 60% flinch, which could come in handy. 30% isn't anywhere near reliable. Jirachi can also viably paralyze Groudon as well, which Registeel doesn't stand a chance. Registeel can't do anything Jirachi can't do. Also remember that Jirachi can use a choice scarf set as well, to check Rayquaza. The ability to scout using U-turn also give Jirachi the edge over Registeel, especially when facing Wobbuffet. Jirachi isn't complete trick fodder either, albeit rare, trick still exists.

Registeel is one of those Pokemon that is not only outclassed, but bring a huge liability to a lot of teams.

1) It can't stop the Pokemon that it's supposed to stop (Read: Dragons). Dialga destroys it with Fire Blast or sets up on it, Palkia can kill it in the sun or the rain (or EQ it on a physical set), Rayquaza, Salamence and Garchomp kill it with EQ, Giratina couldn't care less about Registeel. Mixed Attacking Giratina-O is probably the only Giratina-O variant that it can doesn't automatically lose against (but it will, seeing as it has no recovery and can't do crap back to G-O). It can't even break Stallbreaker Giratina-O's subs with Ice Punch, just to show how weak the thing is. So basically, all Registeel has a hope of beating is Lati@s, really (Which it can't switch into multiple times, either, since it has no recovery)

2) Registeel is probably the biggest liability ever. It is big enough of setup fodder as it is in UU, not to mention Ubers. Stuff that can setup on Registeel: RP/(Maybe SD) Groudon, SD Garchomp, Bulk Up Dialga, SD Scizor, CM Kyogre, TauntCM Mewtwo (Explosion doesn't even guarantee a OHKO against 0/72 Mewtwo, for God's sake), CM Giratina-O and Giratina, Manaphy, all sorts of Arceus forms and entry hazard abusers like Skarmory and Forretress. Big list. It gets worse. Registeel is virtually a free switch-in for Specs Kyogre to eat your team. It gives Ho-oh a free switch-in. Wobbuffet forces you to Explode.

So yeah, outclassed but most importantly "huge liability" is how I sum up Registeel.

There is literally only one thing that Registeel has over Jirachi, and that is Explosion. That's not nearly enough to merit a set. Let's not forget that Registeel's offenses are absolutely pathetic; its Explosion is even weaker than that of Forretress, and its other attacks are, as expected, significantly weaker than Jirachi's.

QC REJECTED 3/3
