Megamind's Super Minions!

Hey, Smogon. I've tested this team on Pokemon Online, and it actually has won more battles than it lost. I've started to become a serious competitive battler ever since late October, and I've learned a few things during the past few weeks. One of which is that it's not how powerful a team is that matters, it's how you use a team. So without further ado, here it is! Changes are in red.

Arkeis-Metagross%5B1%5D.png

Metagross @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 80 HP/124 Atk/252 SAtk/ 52 Spe
Quiet Nature
-Meteor Mash
-Grass Knot
-Stealth Rock
-Bullet Punch

Having the highest attack in OU, Metagross proves to be an extremely powerful machine. Due to Boondocker's suggestion, the moves Psychic and Hidden Power Fire have been changed to Grass Knot and Stealth Rock. Meteor Mash hits very hard, Grass Knot takes care of Swampert and Hippowdon, and Bullet Punch is for Focus Sashers.

dragonite.jpg
dragonite.png

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP/52 Atk/ 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Roost

Having Dragon Dance and a STAB move, Dragon Claw in his moveset, Dragonite is a force to be reckoned with. This one also has great synergy with Metagross, taking hits from Ground and Fire type moves. Roost also keeps it going just like the energizer bunny. Earthquake is also used to take down threats such as Heatran, and Lum Berry prevents sleepers from doing their job. However, since Flygon is on the team, now, Dragonite may or may not be replaced. Anyone who thinks he must be replaced, please say so right now.

magnezone.png

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 40 Atk/216 Spe/252 SAtk
Timid Nature
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice
-Substitute
-Explosion

Aside from being the main electric tank of the group, Magnezone's Magnet Pull ability allows it to take on Steel type threats such as Scizor and Forretress and prevent them from switching out. It's high Special Attack also allows it to take down even Calm Mind Suicune with ease, and with Hidden Power Ice on it's side, Flygon goes down pretty damn easily.

flygon.png

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SDef/252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Earthquake
-U-turn
-Thunderpunch
-Outrage

Weavile was originally on this spot, but it was replaced by Flygon due to Boondocker's suggestion. Flygon is here to patch up the GyaraJolt weakness as well as deal heavy damage with Outrage. Flygon is also used to scout with U-Turn and Thunderpunch helps against Gyarados, as well as use Earthquake to rid the playing field of Tyranitar and most UU Steel Types. Sorry, Danmire, Fire Blast is out. Yeah, I know I said not to suggest Choice Items, but I see how Choice Scarf works for Flygon.

starmie.png

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/ 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Recover

With it's high speed and STAB boosted Hydro Pump, Starmie is a force to be reckoned with. With Ice Beam, it's also Dragonite's worst nightmare. This is another Pokemon on this team that is also like the energizer bunny with Recover in it's moveset.

infernape.png

Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/252 SAtk/192 Spe
Naive Nature
-Flamethrower
-Close Combat
-Grass Knot
-Hidden Power Ice

This fiery chimp makes even the dumbest of trainers regret their bravery. With two powerful STAB moves, Infernape can really wipe the floor with even Skarmory (Flamethrower) or Blissey (Close Combat). Grass Knot is also very useful for those bulky water types such as Swampert, and Hidden Power Ice is for Dragon Types like Dragonite who thinks it can counter Infernape.

Well, that's the team. If there are any changes to the team that need to be made, any changes to the thread in general, or threats to the team that I need to know about, please do not hesitate to point them out, as improvements are greatly appreciated. Also, please do not suggest Choice Items because they limit you to one attack and then you're screwed.

Normally im not a fan of weavile in ou but this team deffinately uses him to his fullest potential (with magnezone support). However, im not sure what he does for your team. You say he helps against heatran and tyranitar, but dont starmie and dragonite already deal with heatran? Weavile outspeads ttar after a dragon dance but he cant switch into any move. Also, without ice shard you have no way to revenge opposing dragonites and flygons. Sure weavile can kill ghosts, but you dont even have rapid spin on starmie to abuse that. Choice specs jolteon is also a big threat to this team, 1hkoing everything except magnezone and he will fall after a couple of hits. Also you have no gyrados counter. Therefore i recommend replacing weavile with a Choice scarf flygon with the moves thunderpunch, outrage, u-turn, and earthquake. This patches up your gyra and jolteon weakness as well as giving u a decent switchin to ttar. Flygon synergizes with your team well by cleaning up after dragonite does his thing, and really benifites from the magnezone support you provide. Lastly, psychic doesnt help against machamp much because meteor mash 2hkos and will never miss due to no guard, while lum berry helps against confusion. Change it to grass knot to combat hippowodon and swampert, and change hp fire to stealth rock (every team needs it).

Summery of changes:

Flygon over weavile
Grass knot and stealth rock over psychic and hp fire on metagross

Good luck with the team

I have to agree with the above poster, but replacing Thunderpunch for Fire Blast to help you with Steel types. You already have Starmie for coverage for Gyarados, and Magnezone might help to0.

Here's the Flygon set:

Flygon @Choice Scarf
Adamant

-Earthquake
-U-Turn
-Fire Blast
-Outrage

Meteor Mash? You must mean DynamicPunch.

Meteor Mash? You must mean DynamicPunch.

No i mean meteor mash...you can 2hko machamp with meteor mash.

And also that starmie does not counter gyrados...especially not life orb versions. Magnezone doesnt counter eq versions. A simple set of
Gyra@life orb
~waterfall
~eq
~filler
~dd

will sweep you without thunderpunch on flygon

Flygons fireblast is pathetically weak and you dont need it because you have a magnezone to kill steal types. This problem is made worse by the fact that you have an adament nature witch lowers special attack.

I see your point here. Flygon's already got Earthquake for Steel Types, anyway.

Aye Aye, don't blame me.
Blame the sight for having Adamant, a'ight?
I'm mostly just improvising this because, yes, T-Bolt does take out Scizor, but T-Bolt from Zone does not take out a Bronzong.
At the same time you can take out Zong with Infernape.
My mistake, just trying to improvise.
Good luck with the team :D

Just 1 more suggestion...since you have grass knot on metagross you might want to test mach punch on infernape over said move. This will help with your lucario weakness as well as allowing you to get past scarf tar. If you dont like mach punch try thunderpunch. Also do you mind if i play with the team? You probably dont since you posted it lol

Im too busy to do calcs right now but i HIGHLY doubt flygons fire blast does more to bronzong then a life orb thunderbolt from magnezone. And yes i know fire blast is super effective

Edit: ok fine ill stop being lazy

Choice scarf flygons fire blast vs standard LEVITATE bronzong: 28.4% - 33.7%
Magnezones life orb thunderbolt vs same bronzong: 48.8% - 57.7%

Does almost twice as much. And for the record im not blaming you i know your just trying to help. The site aint perfect.

Go right ahead, and do let me know how it works out for you. Also, I'm thinking of changing Magnezone's Hidden Power to Fire for Steel Types. Should I or shouldn't I?

Sh-
Perhaps my calcs aren't correct >>
I've been beaten x3

Actually, with the advice Boon has been giving you, it's actually a somewhat solid team.

I wouldnt. Fire and electric have poor coverage together and thunderbolt actually does more to steel types then hp fire unless they are 4x weak to fire. So unless you really need scizor and forteress to be 1hkod instead of 2hkod by hp fire it its pointless.

Anyway i tested the team and it did pretty well...i used sub magnezone with hp ice and explosion over your current one and it did well. Dragonite however didnt live up to expectations. Most games he got walled/forced out by flygon. He did help in walling a yanmega one game and i got to +2 +2 when i was critted and died. I got beat by a hp fire shaymin 1 on 1 =/. After a leach seed and a special defence drop you pretty much have to roost 2/3 of the time and that opened me up to an earth power special drop. Why not try something with more power over dragonite? Maybe cb or offensive dd

Um it's better to run Choice Scarf Flygon with Jolly nature to outspeed Aligross even after +2 speed and two hit KO with Earthquake.

More Power over Dragonite? Well, I don't really like Choice Items because they limit you to using just one attack, but I think offensive DD is a nice idea.
