Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

No, it is a function of the time played since you completed the last task. I've had it as I give the medicine to Jasmine before.
Fair enough. Never knew exactly when...

EDIT: Read this...
Bulbapedia on Safari Zone Johto said:
Access to the Safari Zone is not automatic. Before players can traverse Routes 47 and 48 to get to the area, they must heal Glitter Lighthouse's sick Ampharos, Amphy. Only then will Baoba phone the player and announce that the Safari Zone is open for business.
i.e. That's when Safari Zone opens. Now for the next part...
Bulbapedia on Safari Zone Johto (Changing areas) said:
Three game-play hours after completion of the first challenge, Baoba will call the player and give them their second challenge.
i.e. Complete the first challenge, sit around for three hours gameplay time, then Baoba will open the area. This is only if Mounatin isn't one of the deafult areas.

And that, I believe, answers the question.

So what happens here? I send out Infernape and Duggy switches in, I'm trapped. I U-turn, I'm still trapped?
No, Arena Trap only prevents you from switching out normally. i.e. U-Turn will let you switch out.

EDIT: @ ToastPlusOne: Lightsabre's not referring to the blocks, I know, because he's trying to get a Larvitar for the scramble in his signature...

Ok, now in the right forum:

I would just like to ask some competitive battlers, what IVs do you normally try and get on your pokemon? All outstanding (except for something like Attack, if you are breeding a special sweeper)? I know you want Hidden Power of a certain type etc, but I would like to know if most people aim for all IVs around the 28-31 mark etc. And if so, how long does that take you, and what can you do to make it easier?

Someone told me that people go for all 30s and 31s, but that leaves the still important questions, how long does that take per pokemon and what can you do do help get better IVs?

Ok, well I can see that I am obviously just too noobtacular. I was trying to know how long it took on an actually game. Well obviously, it would take too long. Will any of these programs ever be released on mac. If not, I don't mind that much, seeing as I am installing windows on it later. Ok, well then I guess when I do I'll have to start playing on emulators. Lastly, seeing as I am definitely getting B/W on a DS, is there a way to trade between emulators and DSs? If not, I guess my competitive battling (as you can see, I am only starting to learn about it, probably starting with B/W so I have time to learn basic stuff like this :P (unless you guys know some good emulator things where I can kinda 'cheat my way' into good pokemon to start practicing)) will be done on an emulator.

Ok sorry for the long and confusing post. And thank you so much Athendoros, you've helped me a lot :D

Will any of these programs ever be released on mac There are no plans to do so. If not, I don't mind that much, seeing as I am installing windows on it later. Ok, well then I guess when I do I'll have to start playing on emulators Simulators? But good idea. It is much easier anyway. Lastly, seeing as I am definitely getting B/W on a DS, is there a way to trade between emulators and DS's If emulators, you can, by transferring the .pkm files and using Pokesav, but it is a pain. If simulators, then no? If not, I guess my competitive battling (as you can see, I am only starting to learn about it, probably starting with B/W so I have time to learn basic stuff like this :P (unless you guys know some good emulator things where I can kinda 'cheat my way' into good pokemon to start practicing Try simulators, like Pokemon Online, or Action Replay cheats, which both allow you to practice without putting too much effort in)) will be done on an emulator.

Ok sorry for the long and confusing post. And thank you so much Athendoros, you've helped me a lot :D That's fine. Happy to help :)

I actually love you Athenodoros. Ok, I am done, except for one last little thing. You said it wouldn't take too long if I knew how. Well where would I find out how? You gave me a link, but that was purely for simulators I think. Thank you sooooooooo much. You have helped me a great deal :)

And about the simulator (pokemon online etc), I only have a Mac, for at least another month, probably longer. Thank you anyway, I am going to try and find one online that works on a mac.

EDIT: Pokemon online seems to work on Mac. Wow you are great :O :D

Which is stronger on a Rash natured Torterra, a Wood hammer with 44 Atk EVs, or an Enegry ball with 252 Sp.Atk EV's? Just thought I'd try something new.

as far something with the same defenses and neutral to grass goes then wood hammer is doing more damage because of the higher base power( both are working under almost the same atacking stats, though energy ball doesnt got any recoil), although i cant say the same for leaf storm.

Ok so I am training a Venusaur and I cant find the move set that I like. He is Lvl 60. Can someone help me out with a moveset that is bulky and pretty much suprising? I need help on it bad.

With 44 Atk EVs, Torterra has an attack stat of 265. With 252 Sp.Atk EVs and a +ve nature, Torterra has a Sp.Atk stat of 273. Wood Hammer has 40 base power more so obviously Wood Hammer. I tested it on Glalie anyway, whose base stats are all 80, and Wood Hammer was higher.

Energy Ball vs 0/0 neutral Glalie: 39.8% - 47.1%
Wood Hammer vs 0/0 neutral Glalie: 58.1% - 68.7%

Umm yeah, Wood Hammer. Don't ever run special Torterra.

Leaf Storm vs 0/0 neutral Glalie: 69.8% - 82.1%

It could be a good surprise move against their physical wall. I mean, on paper it looks like Mixed Metagross, but mixed Gross is surprisingly effective in OU.

Got Soulsilver today. Hopefully i'll make it to Lugia tonight.

How long does it normally take to soft rest for ivs? I should be good on the nature, im using synchronize. Timid is best for Lugia right?

Question about Wonder Cards. So one cart can only hold two of them at a time, it seems. There's the Legendary Dogs event at Gamestop soon, for a total of three Wonder Cards. If I delete one Wonder Card to make room for another one, will the Legendary Dog that the man in green at the PokeMart gives also disappear, or are the Wonder Cards and gifts not connected other than that they come together? I do know that the website seems to say that you must have "no more than two Wonder Cards" in possession. Thanks in advance.

Timid's best. Remember Synchronise has a 50% chance of giving its nature to the opponent, & assuming you're using a Master Ball, A minute or two to SR.

As long as you get the gift from the green man to one of the dogs/cats/beasts/whatever they're called, then delete it soon after, you'll be fine. If you delete the Wonder Card before obtaining the gift, the green man & the gift will disappear. Reference.

Dang. Thanks Random. Follow-up question then.

Is it possible to RNG the stats and nature of the dogs, or are they fixed? Not sure about this one, since a friend of mine in Japan said that the ones he got had fixed natures but he forgot to check the stats before he saved.

Can someone direct me to a 4th Gen teambuilding thread? I found one earlier, but it was on my phone (as I once again put off my homework) rather than my computer, where I could bookmark it. I'm working on my first DPPt team, and I'm not looking for someone to tell me what team to use, I just want some guidelines.

What was the move that in double battles draws all attacks to 1 pokemon? I can't remember for some reason...

Also, are there any moves that increase both defenses?

Hello, guys, long time, no see. I've got a few questions, and yes, one of them is about teirs.

1. Why is Cradily NU? I was taking a look at it, and it has decent HP, great defensive stats, and Recover, so it seems like a great choice to me. I mean, clearly it's not OU because Scizor would gut it like a fish, but BL and UU seem quite welcoming...

2. You know Berries #36-#52? The ones that reduce Super-Effective Damage?...Yeah, those... Exactly how much damage do they reduce by?

3. Does Heal Block stop Leftovers, Ingrain, and so on recovery, or does it only stop healing moves?

4. When did Solid Rock get nerfed? I could've sworn it reduced S. E. Damage by 2/3, not 3/4...

5. ...Oh, and am I the only one that seems to realize how much the Fifth generation SUCKS!?! The new Pokemon are beond overpowered (and hideous!), the subject of Yin vs. Yang is unoriginal, and the new mechanics are a wee bit too confusing (Miricle Shooter? WTH?). ...Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

So, as always, thanks to all who answer (especially the last question ;) ).

Edit: Thanks, Random. And if you like the 5th gen., have fun; like you said, it's just my oppinion, and I wish you luck in Uvana or whatever.
Double Edit: (oi...)
I forgot a few things, so, well, here they are.

6. If I have a Milotic using Sleep Talk while asleep and it uses Refresh, will it wake up?

7. You know how in the Battle Tower, your opponents can't switch freely? Does that make using S. Rock a bad call?
