I understand that. ^^ I was refering to: "Hows everyone doing??? Haven't heard from anyone in a while."

And I must disappoint you, It's not likely that I do finish the epic dragon tonight. :( Tomorrow I'm busy too so you can expect it monday. Excuse moi, but perfection needs time. :P lol.

I'm looking forward to the other concepts.

No problem! Do me a favor and show me some concept work for your sea epic before you start really working on it. We are being pretty picky with the epics and I don't want you to waste a lot of time.
 
UPDATE JUST IN!

Sightings of a new species of creature have been coming in from a newly colonized planet on the outer rim. A large number of the breed appear to have escaped scientists' custody and are running free in the wilderness. It is believed this creature is the grown variety, and until one has been domesticated, it will be unknown what the younger variety may look like. Footage of the creature can be found below:

Also, I am finished with the Line art for the Infant form, so expect that soon as well. +)

EDIT: Calling the Electric Porcupines as well. Having sprited the original two, I feel I have an obligation to the concept. +)

I think it looks great so far aXl! just a couple things I noticed is that the back leg and foot look kind of straight and he could probably use a bit more of a bottom jaw than just the outline there. Other than that I think it looks good! Anyone else have thoughts?
 
Finally had time to sprite again. But it still isn't finished. :p Because I got creative and made some awesome patterns and a new improved head.

As you (probably) noticed there are 2 different sprites. And there is where you guys would come in. I need you guys to choose between those 2. Combinations are possible, for example: You want the left sprite, but with the head and the pattern on the wings of the right one.

If I know which one is chosen I can finish it. I only need to do the outline plus some minor details.

So left or right?

edit: I got the feeling that the left sprite ''looks'' bigger then the right, which really isn't. ^^
 
Here's the new infant along with an editted Adult. Not sure if I like the new lower jaw, but I fixed the foot at least. +)

@Dhjona: Take the first sprite and push the pupils forward a few pixels. It looks like it is looking behind itself, unlike the most sprites in this project. Also, a few of the markings look a little rigid, IMO. If you could smooth those out slightly to make them more rounded, it would look alot better. +)

Ok a couple things:

>On both I think the horn on the far side of the head needs to be moved back just a little bit so that it does not blend in with the tip of the nose like it currently is.

>On both the shading on the far wing is pretty flat. Try adding another shade in there to give it some more depth.

>I like the head on the right one but the markings on the wings of the left one.

The infant looks good but it needs some slightly darker outlines some places... The light blue blends a bit with the light surroundings and make it hard to differentiate some things.

I think I have to agree with Energy Storm on this one. It really does look like a dog wagging it's tail. All it needs is a tongue lolling out, and it would look perfect. Going to have to side with the original. +)

@Studio: I'll try to implement the edits on the Infant a bit later. Also, expect some Porcupine-y goodness in the next few days.

Also, just curious, but who did you get the art cache from? I feel like I've seen the Earth Sauropod somewhere before. If your contributor would rather remain anonymous though, you may ignore this question as you please. +)
 
Oh my God, that Metal Ant-Eater is nearly the coolest thing I've ever seen. It reminds of Doryuuzu, actually...

Anyways, nice work! Sorry for just butting in, but I don't really pass by this thread all too often.
 
OK guys.... some bad news.

The guy who created these concepts sent me a message last night saying that he changed his mind and he no longer wishes to allow us to use his concepts. So that... sucks. Anyway, they may have the right to deny us using their exact concepts but they cannot stop us from using the idea of these concepts to create great creatures of our own.

If we don't trace them but simply use them for a type of reference to better our creatures anatomy or poses or just to generate ideas I think that would be more than acceptable. We will just have to make sure that our final products do not too closely resemble the initial concepts.

My apologies to those of you who already started (or finished in aXl's case) work on some of their stuff...

Here's a rough sketch of one design of the sea epic.

I tried to make him as crocodilian as possible, and I wanted to have him have the impression that he was underwater and swimming. But a creature as long as a crocodile tends to look very awkward when it's swimming when it has such short stubby legs. That's why I eliminated two and made the others into flipper things. I don't don't if that's what you prefer, and if not, I'll be glad to keep trying some more.

My only concern with that is that it will look VERY garchomp-ish with front flippers and back legs... Thoughts?

Personally, I just wouldn't want to sprite that because I can't tell what's going on. Might just be iPhone resolution, but yah.

When I get home I might try uploading something. No promises though.
