Latias

id go for calm mind/wish or recover/dragon pulse/psycho shock or hp fire with as much speed evs as you need to outspeed the 108s (considering they include nape and the fighting legendaries its a good speed tier to outspeed and its why i include psychoshock, but also take into account the iv changes with hp), 252 in hp or special defense depending on whether you want to wish pass or not and the rest in the other stat with lefties. that's how i'd roll with it anyway.

Is it viable to use Latias as the special wall on the team that I posted in the Simple Questions thread? Which out of these moves should I use? Definitely Wish, Calm Mind, and an attacking move of some sort, but what out of Mirror Type/Protect/Dragon Pulse/Healing Wish/HP Fire?

I'm not sure what team you're referring too, but if you go with Wish / CM I'd probably go with Dragon Pulse and Refresh in the last slot (though with CM it is more of a setup platform than pure wall.

Generally speaking, though, Latias has difficulty as a wall due to the ubiquity of Tyranitar and Scizor's Pursuits. With the two being able to check Latios fairly well, her weak hits will leave them unscatched and they will easily eliminate Latias from play, costing you a key team member. It isn't as big of an issue for Cresselia or Celebi, who have high defense capable of taking the hit on the switch, but Latias cannot boast this.

Wouldn't it be better to have coverage rather than refresh, as your opponent could advantage that you spam that move, and setup on you?

CMRefresh Latias actually works quite well in Ubers, keeping paralysis and poison from affecting her at all while she sets up. The CMRoar set uses Roar over it for phazing, but both are viable options.

I use a bulky latias:
252 HP / 252 DEF / 4 Sp.atk

Calm Mind
Recover
Dragon Pulse
HP-Fighting

two moves that give perfect covrage, and after just 1 calm mind it hits like a truck.

who would be a good defensive partner for latias? (defensive or offensive) I was thinking of birizion since it can counter ttar pretty well, but its also weak to ice, so I'm not sure. cobalron maybe?

Metagross is a good defensive partner to Latias, it resists Dragon, Ice, while Latias is immune to ground attacks aimed at Metagross and resists fire attacks.

Scizor, and Escavalier are also good partners.

Nattorei is also an amazing partner for Latias, especially the CM+Roar variant. Both of them resist each others weaknesses, and Nattorei sets up Hazards which are very useful both for the offensively oriented set and the defensive pHazer set. They both get raped by Fire Blast+Dark move TTar though.

I've been wanting to test a Rest/SleepTalk/PsychoShift/STAB set with Flame Orb as an Excadrill answer. I don't know how much it would take from a neutral Rock Slide, though.

Is there any reason for Latias to do this when Cresselia does it even better with much higher hp and defenses with no Dragon/Ice weaknesses and equal special defense? Latias should stick to either bulky Calm Minder/attacker, fast screener, and whatever else it has over Latios. But as a defensive Psychic with the above set, Cresselia is the best (and few expect Cresselia anymore).

Latias not only hits harder than Cress, but it's typing gives it a neutrality to X-Scissor, something that may be a big deal if your objective is to switch in and burn Excadrill.

I haven't ran calcs for either.

Dragon does not resist Bug. Latias is, like Cresselia, weak to X-Scissor.

Been using Scarf Terrakion as a Latias partner. Terrakion is weak to Ground, Water, Grass, Psychic, Fighting, and Steel. Latias covers every single one of those except Steel. In return, Terrakion covers Bug and Dark weaknesses.

My favorite part of this duo is that Latias tends to lure Crunch, which lets you nab a Justice Heart boost, giving you a +1/+1 Terrakion to wreck some havoc (+1 allows him to 2HKO Gliscor switch-ins with Stone Edge, Scarf Terakion's main counter besides faster scarfers)

Dragon gives a lot more useful resistances than weaknesses. Latias also has better recovery, higher speed, and a better movepool.

This team is all about a defensive core with a Latias in it (Replace the Ubers with say Hippowdon and Jillicent and you're good to go!)

The Latias set that was being used was Rest/Sleep Talk/Psycho Shift/Dragon Pulse. Cresselia does that whole thing better.

For the question if Latias could survive, Latias could survive +2 X-Scissor (Jolly Balloon) Excadrill but takes 76.37-90.11% with Max hp/max def Bold Nature. Cresselia on the other hand takes 51.335-60.81% (and even survives +2 Adamant Life Orb in some hypothetical Situation). Cresselia is the superior Psycho Shifter and is also useful to take down other foes like Blaziken and Fighters or wear down Dragons (without fearing Draco Meteor/Outrage nearly as much unless on low health).

Can Latias take on Kingdra and live to kill?

It depends on the situation and what move Kingdra uses. For example if Kingdra used Draco Meteor, Latias can survive with 337 hp/296 SDef after Calm Mind (it needs max hp/max special defense to survive without a boost). It could survive Outrage behind Reflect. If Latias switches in on Kingdra non-Dragon moves, it can ohko with Draco Meteor (it needs Max special attack without a boosting item for Dragon Pulse to guarantee ohko on Kingdra). Don't switch in if there happens to be rain though.

Yeah, except TTar kinda rapes this Team ,Jirachi and Hippo counter/check him depending on the set, but mixed ones will surely be troublesome, and without Soul Dew Latias lacks the special bulk this Team would try to abuse.

Can they really be compared o0? Virizion takes on different threats than Latias. It totally is dependent on what your team's needs and/or wants are.

I suppose if you're looking for someone who can easily fit into your team you could use Latias, as it is capable of checking a plethora of threats and it's resistances are very useful.

However, Virizion has useful resistances too. It's resistances are very similar to Latias's, the big difference being a DARK resist and the ability to plow through most Steel Pokemon thanks to STAB Fighting attacks.

On my current test team, I've been playing around with a core of SpecsLatios, bulky SubCMRecover Latias, and SubToxic Magnezone. They work pretty well together synergy-wise, but I can't seem to tweak the other members around well enough to make the team as consistent as I'd like it to be.
