Survival Multiplayer - Team Fortress
I know alot of people like taking swords and armor and attacking eachother in Minecraft, not as much as building cool stuff sure, but it is fun on occasion. But what about combining the building and pvp aspects of Minecraft?
Building a Fortress
Two teams are given time and materials to build fortresses of any design of their choosing. The only stipulation as of this moment is that the fortress has to be fully connected to the ground (so that it can actually be sieged). Players are given a supply of cobblestone, wood, and dirt to build their fortress.
Wood: Most plentiful, but can be chopped down fairly quick with Iron Axes and burned down. Never put together in large quantities, best used for small archer towers or to reinforce in small quantities.
Dirt: Plentiful, but won't hold back siegers with Gold Shovels at all. Use to fill gaps or to make ditches and foxholes.
Cobblestone: More limited quantity. Takes effort to get through with only Wood Pickaxes.
Each fortress would be built within the confines of a certain area, with a neutral zone between the two. Enough time should be given to finish the fortresses, but they must be done in one sitting to prevent scouting (which is against the rules).
Traps are allowed, and the materials for these are divided in limited quantities. Buttons, plates, etc., redstone, dispensers, buckets of lava, and TNT (and maybe slow sand?) are all available. You only get limited number of arrows and TNT that has to cover defense and offense, so you'll have to decide whether to make TNT traps or use them for sapping. Water is unlimited. Ladders have a separate ration for defense and offense. You can use some glass as well.
Each fortress needs a throne room, which is not hidden or blocked up (all players will /sethome in the throne room, so they need to be able to get out anyway). The objective of the game is to make it into the throne room and kill the king (a statue on a throne). The room may be decorated.
Fighting
On death, a player has to wait at spawn 10 seconds before using /home. It would be cool if people would abide by the honor system here, but a referee at spawn may be necessary.
Each team will use a different skin that can be told apart even under armor.
Upon spawning, each player will get the following equipment;
At least a Stone Sword.
A Bow (however, arrows are limited in quantity).
A Gold Shovel
An Iron Axe
A Wood Pickaxe
The strengths of each tool were chosen specifically for the time it takes them to break through equipment. You can always return to the throne room for another tool if one breaks. A mod will be needed in each fort to ensure that these items do not run out.
The following items are limited in quantity, but can always be taken.
Iron Armor
Iron Swords
Arrows
And finally, you may take ONE of the following items per life.
4 Blocks of Sand
2 Blocks of TNT (limited)
4 Ladders (limited)
1 Flint and Steel
1 Bucket of Lava (limited)
A full set of Diamond Armor + Sword (limited)
There's alot to work out in terms of actual quantities, but doing one of these games should end up being extremely fun.
