I guess if you can't find it on Google/Youtube then it doesn't exist.

Also, a rebattled legendary would technically be a hack (albeit a legal one) which you said that you don't use.

Not really but ok

A hack is a mon who's IVs/Stats are altered by AR IMO anyway

Well, by Pokemon-definition, a hack is a Pokemon/item/achievement obtained through the use of an outside device/program (AR, GS, Sav, etc.)

Edit, @ below: I never said it did, hence "albeit a legal one" in my first reply. Also, no matter how you sugarcoat it, it's still a hack; and I don't know where I'd be in life without your sarcastic comments.

true but rebattle dont effect the legitimacy of a pokemon coding wise, nothing is different from them and one that you caught before you realized how easy it was to RNG (my particular case). Anyways thanks alot dude dont know what I would have done without your input ;)

Those aren't released legitimately yet.

Also, I have a question: How did someone use a DW Liepard in Random Matchup? It didn't let me use Iron Fist Conkeldurr in that format, but they had an unreleased DW Pokemon because their Liepard "outsped" my Scarfdreigon and used Swagger on it.

Still curious about this.

@ King
No problem.

Virizion, I'm starting to think that Wi-Fi Random Matchup is full of hackers. :d

My max speed Gengar just got outspeeded by Cloyster (no quick claw, no boost)... Then I faced this guy who had shiny DW Espeon. <.< As far as I know it's almost impossible to get shiny DW Eevelutions since they didn't give us any females?

I've battled only few fair matches there and usually they DC when they realize they're going to lose.

Cloyster might've had Scarf (Battled one before), and I'm sure you can RNG Entree Forest Pokemon but I'm not sure how to.

Hmm, yes, maybe he used Choice Scarf. I didn't think about that. :d

DW pokémon can be RNG'd but only with CGear Seeds. And when using CGear, you can't manipulate shinies/ability/nature. So it's pretty much impossible to get a good shiny DW Espeon in a Dream Ball. Ofc u can breed one if u happend to get female Espeon.

Hello all,

I'm new here. If this isn't the right forum, excuse my ignorance. Anyway, I am very interested in competitive play after buying the game 3 weeks ago. Still a noob, but i'm trying to lurk these forums and understand some of the heady pokemon stuff that you all discuss.

Anyway, I've read some guides on EV training, but I'm still confused on a few things.

1. 255 is the max you can add in one stat right? But when you catch a wild pokemon, does that mean that some of those EV's have been naturally taken up? Or is it 255 after you catch it? What i'm asking is, say i want A chandelure with 252 special attack, 252 speed, and the rest in hp. If i catch a litwick at level 26, do i have to breed a level 1 in order to start fresh? Or can i just start EV training from there?

2. Is it best to use vitamins first, reach the 100 EV cap, and then start training?

Ok, can you guys answer those? Thanks so much and looking forward to expert responses :-]

1. Yes, 255 is the max, but since a +1 is per 4 points, people choose to just "give" 252 EV's, to utilize the EV's for another stat, say 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Speed. And caught Pokemon don't have EV's from the beginning, so you can start from there.

2. It's your choice. Of course, it would be quicker, judging if you have enough money, which I'm guessing you do. I don't really find it the best, I still get more feeling of pride from beating Pokemon rather than vitamins, but it's your preference. ;)

I'm getting the feeling I've been ninja'd.

AFAIK you haven't.

@Virizion: I'm probably guessing a noob who uses SCARF Liepard with Swagger, but that possibility seems too weird to me...

I wrote that while I was writing my answer, and I answered it like 5-10 minutes after seeing it, so I was hoping no one has answered it yet, but I was too lazy to edit my post so meh. xD And it's possible that it's either what IceBeam said or another hack.

Ok, so after you catch a pokemon and fully EV train it, how do you go about leveling up? Say he ends up fully ev trained at 43. Will battling trainees in game ruin that?

Also, should people stop leveling at 50?

NO. Leveling after using up all 510 EVs, your poke stops gaining EVs, so juts grind to level it up

If it ends up fully trained by then, then there's no more problem regarding levelling up, since you've already got maxed EV's. Why stop levelling at 50? If it's Battle Subway you will be brought back down to 50 so no worries there.

So basically, maxEV's and then you can kill whatever for training until 50. Ok. Oh, when a pokemon is level 75 say, and he battles on the subway, are his stats simply lowered to what they were when he was lcl 50?

Exactly.

Wifi forums are out so I'll prett much have to ask here. Looking for Calm/Bold flawless Prankster Cottonee/Whimsicott. PM me. :)

I read in the ev guide that molding EVs for lvl 50 essentially requires your iv number to be divisible by 8. If everyone battles at lvl 50, why would anyone put 252 EV in anything? I'm still confused about that

He used Fake Out boosted by Normal Gem, and he also used Foul Play.

@ Ragu
No Restriction battles are very common, where the Pokemon are leveled to level 100 for battling.

What's stronger- a max attack Swellow w/ guts activated, or a max attack reckless Staraptor? Both assuming you're using brave bird with a neutral nature.

Thank you in advance.

I was reading a Clamperl analysis and can I ask why it hits 988 Sp. Attack after one shell break with a neutral nature? 50% of me is guessing that it's just a typo, but can someone clarify this for me? Thanks.

DeepSeaTooth doubles its SpA then Shell Smash doubles it again.

kingoftricks, that's because it has Deepseatooth, which boosts it's Sp.A to wtfcrazy levels. Not sure how much though.

*edit* Bah, ninja'd!

Someone reccomend me a good set to use on a Leavanny for a sunny day team? I'm thinking XScissor/Leaf Blade, and i'm not sure what else.

Swords Dance and Reflect are what I use.

jolly reckless staraptor brave bird vs 252/252 +def.nature skarmory

63-75 hp 18,9%-22,5%

jolly guts swellow brave bird vs 252/252 +def.nature skarmory

63-74 hp 18,9%-22,2%

something seems weird in my calculations but the funny thing is that i double checked and it seems that they are correct so probably they are somewhat equal in power...
