Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

Thanks so much for this advice. I already have three of the six berries growing in my garden. i should have my Victini raised in no time.

By the way, exactly how many berries does it take to completely remove 252 evs? Was it 11?

Yes, cause the first takes them down to 100 exactly, and every one after takes them down by 10.

My team in-game at the moment is:
drillbur
petilil
scraggy

I decided not to use my starter In this run through. I'm wondering what other three pokemon I should use in-game that compliment these pokemon. However I do know I want to use joltik. I know I'm interested in dwebble, sawsbuck, and minccino. and a few others. I dont think I will use the fossils.

Scraggy is a solid choice for in-game. When he evolves he destroys the Elite Four.

Joltik is also another good choice. Archen, who comes from one of the fossils, evolves into Archeops, who has the powerful Acrobatics. He has a bad ability, but is actually a pretty good in-game pokemon.

You might want to train an ice pokemon or teach Blizzard to someone for the last gym. I used Samurott, but I don't know which starter you chose.

Currently trying to find a Hasty Synchronizer, and it is impossible. I've tried the top floor of Celestial Tower for Elgyems and Dreamyard for Munnas, and I keep getting repeat natures. So frustrating.

If you have any Hasty Pokemon in a compatible egg group, it might be faster to Everstone breed a Hasty Syncher than catch it.

I'm new here and don't know how to trade, but you tell me how and I can trade you a hasty Munna with synchronizer. I was just breeding them and made a spare. If you want it it's 31-9-12-28-31-18, just freshly hatched. I encountered Pokerus early game, so I can infect it if you like.

If you've got far enough to have a spare Dratini I'd like one, otherwise just whatever you think would be nice that you have extras of.

I would very much appreciate that, however, I've never traded with anyone that's not right next to me, so I'm not sure how to go about that. :/

lol wow I was so dumb I wasn't aware of the drastic change in level when you try taking Cynthia ^^;; tho gotta say loving the game tho pain in the butt finding good spots to try leveling up my pokemon only 1 is in the 60s and thats cause I am trying to get hydreigon :K

Black or White? If the former, you should try leveling in Black City some.

I've been doing that, but unfortunately only 3 battles a day I'm to impatient that tho the villa in undella town in handy too, and also T.T every time I miss the evening boat ride too thought I had it today...nope....tho I might be early to, what time would be considered evening in the game?

Does it take really long to level up to lv100?
I know lv1-60 should be a 'breeze' I guess wiht high level Audinos, but after that your exp. gain gets lower and lower as your pokemon's level becomes higher and higher.
does this balance out the exp gain, as its super fast first levels and then the later levels becomes very slow.
To be honest Im not looking forward to levelling this up, I wish Target still had AR DSi still in stock :(

Previous episode.

Team at the end of previous episode:

Ani528MS.png
Sean - Lv 23 - Air Cutter
Ani494MS.png
Valeria - Lv 23 - Confusion
Ani524MS.png
Gregory - Lv 23 - Rock Blast, Smack Down
Ani499MS.png
Ernest - Lv 26 - Flame Charge, Rock Smash, Rollout
Ani570MS.png
Zachary - Lv 20 - (Benched, holding Exp. Share)

Things are looking up, although no team is complete without a 6th member… Let's go.

Episode 4: Bug Gym -> Electric Gym

Bianca 3 assaults us as we leave Castelia City. This was Zachary's first attempt at a battle, then again Munna is hardly an opponent at this point. Snivy, Panpour, and Herdier fell victims to Sean, Valeria, and Ernest respectively. A trip back to healing was deemed unnecessary. Then, as we finally manage to exit the big city, Cheren 4 tries to ambush us. One would imagine that Gregory would evolve after taking more than half of Cheren's 4th team, but no. We kind of have to go back to heal now, but it's just a short trip back.

Whilst the trip to the desert was uneventful as a whole, Ernest began gaining move levels than the rest of the team. Then again, the rest of the team won't get much action after this (for now).

As we finally reach the next city, N 3 tries to take us down. Pfft.

Now, time to prepare a new team for the Gym. First, however, we went all the way back to the museum and get our fossil resurrected. Also, we venture into the Battle Subway just to get some treasure. By the gods, I hope we never have to go in there ever again. There's no Ice Pokémon on sight (what ever happened to buying fresh & delicious Pokémon from a casino?), so we'll have to have some type repeats. One has to draw the line somewhere, however, thus we are left with an incomplete team. Again. Cue the grinding:
Ani499MS.png
Ernest - Lv 31 - Flame Charge, Heat Crash, Rock Smash, Rollout
Ani529MS.png
Earl - Lv 27 - Dig, Metal Claw
Ani566MS.png
Anton - Lv 25 - Smack Down, Pluck
Ani551MS.png
Kyle - Lv 27 - Dig, Assurance
Ani557MS.png
Constance - Lv 27 - Bug Bite, Smack Down, Stealth Rock

It was so hilarious watching Elesa's Emolgas commit suicide against Stealth Rock. My stock of Fresh Water was severely depleted, however. Zebstrika fell after a single Dig. Granted, it was a Critical Hit, but who cares? Ernest took a break whilst in the Gym. The Amulet Coin and the Eviolite were rotated during battles. This becomes a common practice from now on, so I'll stop mentioning from now on.

After the Gym, only Anton gained a level. The others never came close.

Episode 5: Electric Gym -> Ground Gym

Cheren 5 also beat Elesa and wants to challenge us. He ends up humiliated in front of the Unova Champion (whom I do not respect). As a parenthesis, I hate Fake Out. I. Hate. Fake Out.

I learnt something after this battle. If you kill your partner's Pokémon whilst in a tag battle, you don't get any experience. I clearly remember getting experience after frying Steven's Metang back in Emerald; then again my memory is not that good.

We reach the Cold Storage, and we finally get an Ice Pokémon. She shall serve us well. Clearing the container gives us no level gain, strangely. We then go back and watch the "cutscene" of Clay being outnumbered and having to release his prisoners (the wuss). Since the Gym is now accessible, it's time to change the team, do some (Audino) grinding, and challenge it. Blessed be the Sandile line for being weak to Bug and Fighting. To save some time, I decide against using Maractus and use the traded Petilil instead, but this means something that I could've avoided otherwise…:

Ani542MS.png
Larry - Lv 31 - Bug Bite, Razor Leaf
Ani582MS.png
Velvet - Lv 31 - Icy Wind
Ani545MS.png
Stanley - Lv 31 - Bug Bite
Ani549MS.png
Lillil (traded) - Lv 31 - Giga Drain, Quiver Dance
Ani499MS.png
Ernest - Lv 31 - Flame Charge, Heat Crash, Rock Smash, Rollout

Clay lives up to his name. Only Excadrill survives the first hit, and that's only because, whilst swapping items, I forgot to give Ernest the Charcoal back. And what did it do, you may ask? Hone Claws. Curiously, Excadrill was sent before Palpitoad, making the "leader's last Pokémon" tune even more anti-climactic than it was against the supermodel.

After the Gym, only Ernest gained a level. Barely.

Episode 6: Ground Gym -> Flying Gym

What's with this game's rivals and attacking right after a Gym? Then again, was Bianca 4 any good? Nah…

We venture into the depths of Chargestone Cave where, unsurprisingly, Ernest has a type advantage against almost everything. Trying to keep a balanced (level-wise) team is harder than ever, right? Even with the Lucky Egg, which has been added to the items rotated in the team. We fail to see a Tynamo until we're about to reach the end of the basement. A Quick Ball later, we have a weakling without weaknesses. After everything that can be caught has been caught, we prepate to escape…

N 4 scares us! Ferroseed's Metal Claw almost kills Velvet! But didn't. The shock made her learn Ice Beam and evolve at the same time, so I guess that that was a good thing in the end. We arrive at the other side, and… no Gym!

We have to go ring the bell atop the Celestial Tower; at the very least we get to see some Roswell aliens… or something. I catch 2 Litwicks, one as a battle partner and another one just to hatch eggs; both get C-starting nicknames, of course. At the end, the bell is rang, but the team has no Fly user… so we have to climb back down.

After a long trek that took forever, we finally reach the open Gym. Time to go back, change the team, and grind grind grind. Velvet stays on the team, whilst Anton and Zachary (who gets to evolve) return. Since the Gym is of the Flying Type, and not a single enemy is weak to Fire/Fighting, Ernest is getting a break. It's not something I like doing, but a single Gym/Episode won't hurt him. Besides, we finally get a 6th member! Although… a useless one:

Ani595MS.png
Georgianna Fuzzles - Lv 35 - Signal Beam, Electroweb, Electro Ball, Thunder Wave
Ani566MS.png
Anton - Lv 35 - Smack Down, Acrobatics
Ani583MS.png
Velvet - Lv 35 - Ice Beam
Ani571MS.png
Zachary - Lv 35 - Foul Play, Swagger
Ani607MS.png
Callidorah - Lv 35 - Will-O-Wisp, Hex
Ani602MS.png
Eustace - Lv 27 - (Benched, holding Exp. Share)

…Do I really have to say anything about this Gym? Let's just say that Electro Ball is… yeah, let's say nothing.

After the Gym, Eustace jumped to level 29. He almost reached 30, but the mark was missed by around 50.

Right after we leave the Gym, N tries to talk to Ernest. Since he's currently unavailable, Georgianna takes the message. And since she adores me, N walks away in frustration.

Will my team be able to survive the treacherous Twist Mountain? Especially without Ernest? Sure it will!

Just got the game a few weeks backs after not playing pokemon since salphire like 3 years ago and loving it just finshed the elite 4 round 2 with a team of

Haxorus lv 72
Blissey lv 69
Chandelure lv 73
Slowbro lv 72
Galvantula lv 69
Mienshao lv 70

Vulpix - #037 (Timid) 31 / 22 - 23 / 8 - 9 / 31 / 28 / 31
Deerling - #585 (Adamant) Male (♂) : 28 - 29 / 31 / 28 - 29 / 6 / 31 / 31

The vulpix has low defense, but I tested it on PO and it didn't matter all that much...but damn, check out that sawsbuck! It's a shame sun sucks, ahaha. It's my favorite weather though.

My question is a really stupid one because the answer is fairly obvious, but I can't seem to confirm it anywhere: does sawsbuck get stab on nature power if it turns into earthquake?

No, because it's not a Normal-type move doing 100 BP Ground-type damage, it's a normal-type move calling Earthquake.

So I did a little bit of the entralink yesterday with my brother (he has Black, I have White), and we both managed to get Black City / White Forest increasingly populated, if anyone was wondering how that works.

Unlike what Serebii would have you believe, he could not find any pokemon in the grass of white forest, but he did see trainers that even I couldn't see. Once they went over to Black City, he was able to battle them, but their pokemon seemed somewhat random (for example, I had never found a Whismur in the grass but he got a trainer with Exploud to migrate over).

I did the same, and ended up getting Trapinch (woo) and Surskit into my game. To add to the discovery, I also found out that when I did missions in his game, my entralinks "black power" (lol) went up, but the "white power" did not grow until I had completed all 6 of the missions, and THEN my white power increased to match the black.

I'm not really sure what that did, if anything, because I restarted the next day for my Hoenn starter run-through haha. Still, thought it might help someone.

SN: My Dream World works, got a female Flame Body Ponyta yesterday! I'm hoping these reports of Sandshrew are true, since that would mean more pokemon to find.

The black and white points are what unlocks additional Pass Powers (the things that you activate on the C-Gear and give the effect to you and anyone nearby whose C-Gear notices you). You start with ones that give a small effect (a little more experience or money, or a 10% discount at shops) and the points unlock better versions.

More Entralink stuff:
  • The quality of the support missions you get for your friends seems to be linked to the size of your friend's Entree (which is giving you the missions). At first I was getting missions to give my sister 30-minute boosts, but after she did a bunch of missions and her Entree grew, I got missions to give her hour-long boosts.
  • You can repeat a cleared mission.
  • If you fail a mission, you'll get a different one.
  • The "sell an item" missions are rip-offs.
  • When you do the "healing" mission (where you become a nurse and need to talk to your friend while they're in a battle) their current Pokemon will be healed at the end of the turn after you talk to them, and they'll get a free Revive after the battle.
  • The battle missions can be used as IV battles, especially if you get the Lv100 one.
Yeah, me and my sister had some serious fun with the Entralink. We currently have support missions for each other where I can give her an hour-long experience boost and she can give me an hour-long money boost.

So I'm heading through the town map again before I go to the elite 4 the 2nd time, I need some suggestions for HM slaves. I currently have 3 pokemon for surf, flash, strength, and fly and I need to minimize that!

Golurk and Tropius can each learn Flash, Strength and Fly, and Surf is a good move to have around anyway so use whatever water-type you've already got. Nothing that's non-legendary can learn all four moves (only Mew, Lugia and Arceus can do it)
