The face seems...derp...for some reason.

Ice-cold Claws seems to have the best concept going- if he could shrink that charm down into a smaller size, he'd have a winner.

@attract: sorry, that was pretty vague, wasn't it? I guess I meant on the far right see of the back sprite the head seems to jut out at an odd angle. Maybe try putting some more of the feather-collar there, or turning the angle of the head. Maybe mess with the shading. But yeah, I'm nitpickning.

@ice-cold claws: great spriting, though one nitpick. Where is that tail coming from? It seems high up to me, but what do I know? Back-sprite might clear it up.
 
Ice-Cold Claws, the one thing that would make your sprite perfect would be if you lifted the tail so it wasn't pointing down at such a steep angle.

Ice-Cold Claws, ADORABLE. I like the short hair for female idea :) I agree with Mos-Quitoxe though, his tail probably shouldn't point down like that. Also his feet claws are kinda big for such a lil guy!

As for the feather-fur on the back of his head, originally I kinda thought they would go up along the back of his head and connect to the big feathers at the top, but now that I see the sprites you guys are doing, they look good with no feathers on the back. So that's up to you guys, whatever looks best.
 
Ice-Cold Claws, that is excellent. As for the gender difference, remember that in B/W slight gender differences are nonexistent. I don't think a slight change of hairstyle is a big enough change for it to exist in B/W.

As far as I can tell through a cursory bulbapedia search, there are only two examples of a prevo having a gender difference, and the evolved form not having one. That is Gligar -> Gliscor and Murkrow -> Honchkrow. Both of these are examples of a GSC pokemon evolving in DPPHGSS with a hold item... completely different from a standard evolution by level up within one game.

I would pick one or the other (for me the short-hair one) and have no gender difference just like Tomohawk.
 
Guys, Tomohawk's sprite has a gender difference. The females have smaller eye-spots. There is a lot of precedence for both prevos with and without gender differences when a final evolution has one, so you can go either way. You may, however, want the think about what Tomohawk's gender difference means for the prevolution.
 
I added more shading on both.
Also, I moved the arm a few pixels to the right in the backsprite, so it wouldn't be sticking out awkwardly. How does it look (with emphasis on the foot claws)?:

And yes, Mos-Quitoxe, backsprites are a pain T.T ...unless you're doing Electrode's backsprite xD


EDIT: ahhhhhhh.... ok i'll make the hands bigger. And ICC, I love the eyes. I absolutely adore them. Great job :D
 
ICC definitely got that PreCAP1 sprite dead-on. The eyes are a tough part to get right, but they're really important, and I think he got the size and positioning correct at last. I like all parts of it except one, and it's the same part everyone else has noted already. PreCAP1 has a fluffier, larger tail than what you have, and currently you also have it coming out of the middle of the back and at a weird angle. If you fix that, it'd be great!

paintseagull: Yep, tail corrected...I did think the feet claws were big, but after I compared it with your art, I think the proportions are right...I guess?

Yep. My thoughts: though the different-sized hair things would not translate correctly when it becomes Tomohawk, nothing else would work - the purple spots on its back are the closest to eye spots, but it wouldn't do since it can't be seen on the front sprite.

Just to let you know, there is precedent for gender differences that are only visible on the back sprite: Floatzel.

Nevertheless, your sprites are looking really good and the current gender difference still works.
 
Sorry if this offends you ICC, but I REALLY like your cuter and pudgy-er version of preCAP1, so I used it as inspiration for my redesign. I'll use my older version if I've crossed a line.

I guess I didn't think mine was cute enough, even for a scrappy/prankster guy, so i redid it. Mostly I hated the shape of the head. C&C pleaaase!
 
Paintseagull: Hi and thank you! For your sprite, you might wanna size that down to the size of something like Attract's first. Like Attract's, Mos-Quitoxe's or mine, make the cheeks fatter so it doesn't look too much like a mouse. The arm on the right is at a rather odd angle - give it the same angle as the arm on the left. The fingers too, make them the same as the other hand's. The eyes...I dunno how to guide that, just keep experimenting until it doesn't look funny. =)

Objection: Thank you, that's a good observation. I'll keep it in mind. But the majority of Smogon may disagree with me breaking the 'usual rule' of gender differences so I'll just stick to mine.

Attract: Don't be afraid Attract, I'm the chill kinda guy (I'm Ice!) so I'm not offended, just a bit afraid since our sprites really look alike now. I don't think I want that =( So, uh...let's just wait for somebody to drop by and sort this out.
EDIT: Attract, I think you should stick to the badassery aspect of your original sprite with the claws and fierce look and stuff. I think it's better if everyone had original sprites with different personalities. Well, that's just what I'm suggesting - if you want it to stay, go ahead.
 
I have to say that I'm dearly loving ICC's pose and sprite. It looks like it's gonna hug you and make you slowly explode into buckets of heart-shaped SQUEEE!!! Someone's gonna have to do one hell of a good sprite to stop me voting ICC. The shiny is cute too.

@paintseagull: it's a bit big, sizing it down will make it much better. Also, I can't really say anything about misinterpreting what the artist meant in the sprite, can I =D

@Attract: it's much cuter know, but the head is still a little...odd? I dunno. Can't pin it down. Oh well
 
Darn I was afraid it was too big! Back to work :)

edit: OK here's the new size on the left, in comparison with Gible, Charmander and my original outline. Some tweaking still needs to be done to this outline (ears are too big, eyes look weird still) but just wanna make sure the size is good first.

paintseagull, I really like the feathers around the chest. They're pretty hard to do, but I think you've done them the best. I'm just not to ecstatic about the way it looks like your sprite is staring right at the screen. Maybe shifting the face a little to the left, but keeping the head as is. I like the smaller one btw.

And ICC, I'll probably stick with the old one, yeah. The thing you said about each submitter's different personalities is important and I wouldn't try to take that from you.
 
I noted that on IRC too when paint asked, Attract, and I totally agree with you. I very much dislike how the sprite is looking right at the screen, instead of at that 45 degree angle that every other sprite is. Notice the way Gible's facing? That's how your sprite should be facing, or at least very close to that.
 
Okay. I didn't want to make any changes like that until I got the size right. I think changing the direction he's facing should be pretty easy

Actually I recommend using that edited version's headshape but keeping the claws and fierce look, because that one's more proportional.

Oh yeah, I corrected the original fronts since the feet claws (like Paint said) were to long, and it made them look like they were about to topple
over, so...yeah.

Wait guys, are the feet too close in the backsprites?
 
We don't have access to your C drive. To get the image to work, you need to upload it onto an image hosting website like Imageshack or Photobucket.
