Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

By advancing the year up by x the delay should go up down by X. So either move it up or down 2 if you want to go that route. But personally I would continue to keep going with a timer. I've had a similar situation and it just seems to be difficult sometimes.
 
Not a big fan of changing the year.. I even try to keep the month as consistant as I possibly can.. Im getting my ds phat back today or tommorow and it was a lot easier to hit delays on that.. hopefully that will solve my problem if not i may have to
 
While cloning my RNG'd Pokemon and making back-ups in PokeSav, I noticed that -all- of my SoulSilver Wi-Fi event pokemon such as Mew, Celebi, shiny beasts, and Jirachi had hometown as Gold, instead of Silver. Is this normal?
 
So, I just got a copy of HG and would like to RNG a good TID/SID for it before I get started. I really don't have much experience at all RNGing in the fourth gen games. Could anyone point me towards which guides are best to get started on and will help me to get my ID settled before I start playing?
 
@ Zoap & Christian: Just an update in case you guys are mildly interested I changed the year down to 08 turned off the console switched the year back to 2011 and its working fine again dont really know what happened there but in case it ever happens to you guys again give that a shot
 
Hokay. I am lost.

7D1C020177F3E38A is the seed I'm going for (no C gear). I want to catch a Jolly Axew. I have a syncher and am using sweet scent. The desired IVs are frame 1.

I've gotten these captures:

jolly slot 1 M ability 1 (no frame advance)
jolly slot 0 M ability ? +1 from saving
relaxed slot 7/9/11? M ability 1 +2 from saving

(All have 50/50 gender ratio.)

I cannot find that pattern anywhere on the list for that seed (and I checked that all of those had the right IVs and were the correct seed.) Oddly, I sometimes get a 9-11 / 22-24 / 22-24 / 11-13 / 14-16 / 2-4 seed (also frame 1) which is not on the list of adjacent seeds. o_O

I'm pretty confused and I think I'm missing something.

Use sweet scent on the final floor where Cobalion is. If you're on the first floor there's an NPC that moves. Oh, and 5th gen RNG Help belongs in the 5th gen thread.
 
Is there a difference between delays over and under a certain range? I have no problem hitting delays over say 4500 first try but anything below that and I miss the delay over and over and my calibration jumps all over the place
 
How is my RNG reporter wrong when it comes to Elm calls? According to the seed to time when i check my elm calls im hitting my delay but the calls dont match up with what is displayed..

it says that it goes E,K,P etc.. but whenever it seems i land it it goes K,P,K etc.. why is the E there if it doesnt mean i hit the delay? It makes it very confusing as to when to battle the mon because the spread of choice is under 10 and i cant make all 9 elm calls or i miss the frame

I'm not sure but I think that happens when you're starting from other frame than 1. That has happened to me once when I was breeding and for some reason my starting frame was 3 (two elm calls skipped) instead of 1. o.O

Do you have doggies/lati@s roaming?

I don't usually call Elm that many times. You can be pretty sure you hit your delay after 4 or 5 calls I think.

no roamers im pretty sure they are all dead... im hitting the delay thats the not the problem i just cant tell what frame on till after i check the calls on RNG reporter which doesnt work in this case before the frames with the ivs i want are on frame 1,5 and 7

I catching the red gyarados in lake of rage i dont know if surfing or rain messes up the frame
 
Welp, it seems I’m left with no choice but to use a Synchronizer to catch Ho-Oh, because pretty much all of the spreads that have generated from my search results demand one.


The only problem I have is I don’t know (or rather, remember) exactly how the synchronizer advances the frame. Just for example’s sake, I have a nice physical spread all picked out at frame 73. How exactly would I go about this? How many frames before then do I have to advance, if any?


I’m just making a guess here, but frame 66 appears to be the last one yielding an Adamant nature before my target frame. Should I advance to Frame 66 then engage it, thus automatically advancing to frame 73? I’m probably very wrong about this, I know.
 
Is there a list somewhere of some nice TIDs/SIDs that produce good shiny spreads? I just got my HG cart and I want to RNG my IDs before I get started.

Is this your first time trying RNG Abuse? Sorry to ask about that but it makes it easier for us to help.

You did hit delay 577 so your HGSS game is hitting only odd (1,3,5,7) delays. To make it even (0,2,4,6) you need to put a GBA pokémon game to DS's 2-slot. Or change your DS's year (never worked for me but worth trying).

Did you kill roamers before you started breeding that cynda? Or is there that photographer guy near Day-Care?

Just to clarify here, this doesn't switch the even/odd-ness of what you hit, it changes what your target delay is. For example if you're trying for 600 delay in 2011, that's 601 delay in 2010. You still hit even or odd, same as before you changed it.
 
Alright so I've been trying to get back into RNG and I started on Emerald Wild Captures just for the hell of it and I'm having the hardest time figuring this out.
From my understanding when using VBA you can advance your frame by 1 using CTRL + N, well I'm trying to land on a specific frame and I've managed to make a save state 14 frames away from my TARGET frame. Now the LOGICAL thing to do would be to advance the frame by 14 using CTRL + N but when I do I end up landing on the EXACT same spread. I did some testing to see what different advances got me and here are my results:

The numbers 1-20 are the number of times I advanced the frame starting from a frame of 10663. All this is from sweet scenting. As you can see I'm not only landing on frames WAY ahead of what I advanced them to but also going BACK frames which is beyond me O_o. I'm not completely sure if sweet scenting does anything to the RNG. All I know is that it'll differ depending on which Pokemon your using because of the cry. The only advancement that 'works' when I do it is when I advance it by 15 as you can see that frame is 15 frames away from 10663. Any help is appreciated, I'm at a loss O_o...
 
Hi, I just purchased a copy of Heart Gold and am trying to get myself a shiny flawless adamant Totodile but I don't really know where to begin. My only experience with RNGing was using it for Gen 5 to get a few studs for breeding. I'm guessing you use the Pandora's Box thing? But whenever I put in desired PID for a shiny flawless spread I get an error saying an unhandled exception occurred in the application. Sorry to ask such noob stuff right here, thanks for your patience and any help.
