Rarely Used (RU) Tier

Scarf medicham seems like a decent counter to some of ru's top threats with pure power and the elemental punches to complement 130 BP HJK
 
^^except for the fact that smashpass medicham exists, or ninjask pass medicham exists. IMO, baton pass seems deadly in this meta. there are so many amazing powerhouses and so many good boosting moves.
 
Not many. Most of the good ones are up in UU or OU. Weezing is a decent Clear Smog user, but specially based recipients demolish him anyway.
 
Gonna be interesting testing this after seeing UU for a while, gonna be a mess while it settles up, but we got to see what happens right?
 
Personally find this a really really bad idea at this point of time, UU is still a complete mess in progress and starting a brand new tier after UU shouldn't even be done before cleaning up UU first. I mean good god the fact alone Victini/Kyurem are there when they're effectively on their way out of UU has already potentially let in 2 Pokemon which don't belong in RU but avoided the cutoff.

Amoonguss can use Clear Smog effectively, Cofagrigus looks like a good hazer but ive yet to test him.

There's one pokemon thats really surprised me today. Scarf Primeape, he can switch into Venomoth with ease and OHKO with Stone Edge, gain momentum with U-Turn, or clean up late game with Close Combat.

I both agree and disagree. I do not think it is a bad idea to start the tier, but I do believe If we start it now then we need to wait a long time before doing any suspect tests. As long as we wait for UU to settle before we start making changes to RU, why not have it?
 
Something else I've notice which I think is going to be an major issue in this tier is hazard rape. There are no decent Rapid Spinners and no Magic Bouncers in RU with Donphan, Xatu, Espeon and Hitmontop banned to UU. All you have of the non-SR weak Rapid Spinners is Claydol, Kabutops and Sandslash who all share common weaknesses.

Meanwhile you have some excellent hazard layers in the game in Steelix, Gigalith, Drapion, Crustle, Omastar, Scolipede/Whirlipede, Garbador who are legal in this tier.
 
Don't forget about Blastoise, I've been using him as my spinner and he's been doing great.

I can see Cresselia as the first to go, as it's kind of like it was in UU last gen where it walled nearly everything and could set up cm with ease. Also, I never though this would ever be uttered, but bug-types dominate this meta. Yanmega, Venomoth, Scyther, and even Durant to an extent can be a real nightmare.

Don't forget Omastar can rapid spin too, although he does share the same weakness. And then there is Blastoise. Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee ALSO learn rapid spin, according to Serebii.net, and they also resist SR so they really have a nice bit there.



Edit: Cryogonal gets it as well, although it is SR weak. It does have 105 speed and good special defense, although its typing is shitty.

Edit 2: Omastar doesn't get rapid spin? What?
 
Well, we're here at last. With UU having been out for a month, I could piece together a banlist for UU that would create the tier below it for usage.

I like this because it really is just NU at the moment, and in the long run, I think that this tier is actually going to make the real NU tier way more fun
 
I can't give up UU, but I think I can take being split between two tiers. Looks like fun, can't wait to start laddering!

But you forgot Speed Boost! (or rather, Sharpedo and Yanmega because Ninjask isn't broken)
As long as we have QuiverPass and SmashPass and Sharpedo and Yanmega, the tier will be like this.

All of the broken sweepers atm are only broken once they get boosts passed to them from other 'mon's, meaning that they're not actually broken. So really, nothing stands out as being able to sweep to easily, except for the aforementioned things.

As for walling, Cresselia is a monster, but Hail holds it back some. That said, it could use RestTalk, but then it must give up CM or a coverage move, making it less of a threat. I'm really on the fence about Cresselia, and whether it's just a really good wall, or actually too good of a wall.

Hail itself seems to be not nearly as broken as I thought it'd be. Probably because most of the best abusers are chillin' out in UU, leaving few good ones for RU. atm, I think Hail is fine, but that could change at any time.

Ooh fun new tier! Most of my faves happen to be in here too.

Cresselia's issues with Bug and the still not preferable Moonlight might keep it in.... Hmm.

How many good Taunters are down here to check Baton Pass? Yikes.
