Well...where to go from here....Am I disappointed that Drizzle is still OU? Yes. Do I still think it's broken? Yes. Will I keep playing OU? With drizzle? Unfortunately, Yes. I've just gotten too used to this metagame right now to quit it. I guess all we can do now is just soldier on and wait for the next suspect test.

You don't have to stick with the crappy metagame. Come down to UU where more than 20 Pokes are viable if you want to ladder high.

So, I haven't actually played OU much since early on in this round, due to my excitement for UU and the RU. However, I will say that I am very happy that all weather was kept. As far as I am concerned, the more weathers the are, the less broken any individual one is. Banning one would just make the others follow. And to all those people who think that would be awesome, just look at my sig.

Another wasted suspect test. BRING BACK THE SMOGON COUNCIL!

So you're essentially saying I didn't get my way so the process needs to be changed. Qualified voters made a decision, and in my opinion, it was the right one. There will always be some disagreement, but as far as I am concerned this is the best, and most fair way to decided on things. If people don't like the decisions, then next time make reqs, get like minded people to make reqs, and vote it out. But don't complain that things should be changed just because your opinion is in the minority.

Sigh, well, the biggest issue is gonna stay, Drizzle.

I only hope that Garchomp gets the boot at least.

Otherwise I'm just gonna give up on OU altogether, and play UU, where the broken stuff actually seems to be getting banned. [Well, Chansey survived... but Kyurem and Drought got banned]

Minority of Qualified Voters? Maybe.
Minority of the Community? Maybe not.

Bearing in mind, some voters may have qualifyed purely because they abused said broken factor of the metagame.

Yeah I've played a bit of UU this morning and it's WAY more enjoyable than OU to me right now.

Plus, the team I whipped together is kind of destroying everybody :3

Not gonna deny it, I like UU better, but that is just personal preference. I think weather wars is a great style of play and make OU what it is. It just so happens that all my favorite Pokemon are UU.

And what if they did? People who voted to ban it also used them. Using a strategy to get a vote does not make the strategy broken.

Sample sizes play into statistics a lot different when analyzing a ladder system. If 9 of the top 10 teams get there using weather, it's pretty statistically accurate to assume weather is neccessary in the metagame, and discount the 10th team as an outlier.

.....

I know this will sound somewhat rude, but honestly I need to say it.

I cannot help but feel the voters pool is somewhat biased.

If the 'majority of the community' felt that weather was broken, then the 'majority of the community' are also morons considering they couldn't reach a simple flat 1450 ranking. Why would anyone want to listen to people's opinion on Pokemon when they are incapable of playing it in the first place.

Would you listen to someone talk about gas efficiency if they drove a Hummer?

Smogon is a community made up from people who all share one thing in common - their passion for Pokemon. It therefore stands to reason that the general public's opinion should matter just as much as the 100 top players. After all, what is Smogon without all the people who play it.

Considering pokemon online's rating system is a joke its not fair to call all the people that didn't make it "morons". Have you ever thought about the people that think "hey i got a badge for using a weather spam team or a shell pass team im sure not gonna ban that shit". Come on man. think.

This is not true at all. It's widely accepted (and has been like this since tiering began) that the opinions of the top players is more valid than RandomScrub123 when it comes to tiering. I hope you realize this isn't a democracy and we're not voting for the next President of the USA, so you need to get this notion of self-entitlement out of your head. If you want a say in the policy decision making, prove that you're good enough.

But on the other hand, how do we know all those people who don't make reqs aren't just like "I can't bother to put in the time or effort to beat strategy x, so strategy x is broken and should be banned."

We have no way of knowing weather or not people are biased, so we give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they will not be. And if we are assuming they are not, then who do we let vote? The best players, who know the most about the game. Either we give them the vote, or assume that everyone is biased and have no one we can trust to vote.

(though on a side note, I do agree that POs rating system is utter crap)

I'm pretty sure that most of the people that made it to the top 100 just copied KG's team (with perhaps a slight tweak here or there) and rode the SubSD Garchomp all the way to the top. Pretty much anyone could do it with very little skill.

The way to the top that takes even LESS skill: throw together a team with Dual Screen Espeon, BP Shell Smash Gorebyss, and a few sweepers. You can break top 20 with that with very little effort.

OK, so lets assume this is correct. If it is so easy, and people want X banned, why don't they just use these "skill-less" strategies and get reqs? Oh, that's right, because that doesn't work.

And by the way, skilled people use the best strategies. Even if something is broken, if you don't make reqs because you didn't want to use that strategy, then you only have yourself to blame.

It's funny because many of the people who got 1450 used shit like subchomp + para or drizzle or smashpassing to begin with.
Well yah. You only have a pool of like 20-25 Pokes to choose from if you actually want to ladder successfully in OU. There are players all over this community that are capable of reaching 1450, but simply don't because they want to have fun while they play using teams with actual thought behind them instead of laying on the auto-battler that is weather teams.

Thats why their needs to be a separate suspect ladder without weather or smash and pass. Lets see who is at the top now. Let us play a metagame that involves skill and not who can spam the most hydropumps.

it is very sad to see all this bitching around!
sure people have the right to tell when they are satisfied or not with the decisions of the suspect testing but going so far as to call the voters biased is unacceptable!!!
all of you who think that it is impossible and unbelievable that drizzle stayed and that the voters were biased then get ur asses and make some good teams!!if you don't have the skill to do it then just tell your opinions in a respectful manner and stop bitching around disrespecting other people's efforts...

The question I want answered, whether I am proven wrong or not, is do the majority of people even enjoy the Metagame as it is? Are people happy with the whole concept of weather wars? If not I need to ask, is this the right thing to do?

EDIT: @Alexwolf, our aim isn't to be disrespectful. Most of us just want what we feel is best for the Metagame and for all the people who play it.
