RU Threat List

Out of curiosity how much is said shitload?

To be fair, unless it can take a flare blitz from Choice Band Entei I see no real reason to run thick fat on Haryiama, could someone fill me in?

Max HP 0 Def Hariyama with Thick Fat takes roughly 45% from CB Entei's Flare Blitz. That's a guesstimation from my own experience, not an actual calculation.

Okay, so we need to figure out if Thick Fat on Haryiama changes the number of hits required for Flare Blitz Choice Band Entei to kill it as opposed to Guts Haryiama. Otherwise I really can't see any use for Thick Fat (unless I'm missing a well used ice/fire offensive pokemon, in which case please bring that to our attention).

Unless I'm doing the calculation wrong Max HP 0 Def Hariyama with Thick Fat takes 45.3%-53.7% from Max Atk CB Entei Flare Blitz. Guts Hariyama on the other hand takes between 90.9% and 106.9%. Edit: Of course it's twice as much. Thick Fat gives it a pseudo-resistance (*facepalm* on myself).

When TR is up he's not, over 420 HP
and a shitload of attack after guts.

I prefer to use Ursaring in the Tier on my TR team.

Max att EVs + adamant + Guts activated + Stab Facade.

And Good coverage with CC And Crunch and filler for the last slot, Seed Bomb hits Rhperior and Rhydon Super Effectively but you could put something else there like any of the elemental punches even sword dance to increase it power to ridculous levels but probably a bad choice with only 3 turns of trick room to sweep with.

The Only thing Hariyama has over Ursaring is Priority Bullet punch outside of TR or against Pranksters and possibly a better STAB but there are aren't many steels in this tier and facade doesn't suffer the Def and Sp-def decrease where you're vulnerable to be revenged by Priority users.

And Normal Stab is Resisted by Rock, Steel and immune by Ghost ( I'm probably missing something else too)

Nope, that's all that resists Normal.

Just chiming in to express preference for Ursaring over Hariyama on my TR team.

Ursaring also is interesting with Quick Feet and Flame Orb, because he has not to worry about TR, but probably needs Protect.

Anyway, Usaring Guts is pure power.

Quick Feet does not protect you from Burn's damage-halving, only Guts does that. You need to use Toxic Orb.

Everyone knows the best counter to CB Entei is Magcargo. He eats those Flare Blitzes for breakfast.

Obviously a joke, but what if the opponent predicts your Magcargo switch-in and locks themselves into Bulldoze, then double-switches on your obvious switch-out thus gaining momentum/free turns/etc for their side?

Well most CB Entei don't use Bulldoze. It's usually Flare Blitz/Espeed/Stone Edge/Iron Head or HP Grass.

I know I don't play RU much (I mostly just watch Xenon's videos on Youtube), but what exactly do you hit with Iron Head instead of Bulldoze? Is it just for the higher base power against random Rocks? The Entei I use carries Bulldoze, but I rarely ever use it anyways.

Always run max defense hariyama over max HP.

CB Entei Flare Blitz vs 252/0 Hariyama : 45.33-53.66%
CB Entei Flare Blitz vs 0/252 Hariyama : 38.10% - 45.00% (will always survive 2, even after SR)

meh, just throwing that out there

First of all, always run max defense hariyama over max HP.

CB Entei Flare Blitz vs 252/0 Hariyama : 45.33-53.66%
CB Entei Flare Blitz vs 0/252 Hariyama : 38.10% - 45.00% (will always survive 2, even after SR)

You have a point, since he has a huge amount of HP in the first place, investment there won't help too much.

In fact, to go even farther on that note. If you do run a TR set an want to maximize both defenses and max attack, its better to go 128 in each defense.

Just as a point of reference, 252/0 Hariyama with guts has about a 41% chance to be OHKOd by a CB entei flare blitz, whereas a 0/128/128 only has about a 15% chance to be OHKOd.

How much HP does Hariyama have with no investment anyway?

Im also assuming the best set for Hariyama is 252 atk/252 def anyway or 252 atk/128 def/128 sdef

Even without HP investment he is pretty beefy. Thats awesome.

Yeah, but having defenses that max out at 219 with a neutral nature and no recovery outside of rest kind of lessens the awesome factor. It does get counter though, which seems ideal for something with sky high HP and pretty mediocre defense, but I'm not sure whether there aren't better options for something with base 120 attack.

Ran into a CounterSash Alakazam the other day that caught me off guard. It's novelty, but the odd counter user is a pain in the ass.
