Introduction:
'11 was my first year doing VGC's, giving me zero experience, and to make matters worse, I picked it up early May about four weeks before my Regionals. Yet, it was enough to win my Dallas regional for whatever reason. But in the week before Nationals, my family and friends put a lot of pressure on me to do well, and I replied every time "I probably will not win, the competition is way out of my league." Yet, even though I doubted myself, I tried my best to make everyone back home proud.

The team bluffs trick room, but has you can see, none carry it. No one really feel for it so I didn't really care. I know, taunt of Scarf Jelli and Imprision on non-Trick Room chandelure? It worked.

Friday, July 9th:
I flew in to Indianapolis with nothing really going on. We checked into the amazing JW Marriott hotel.
268144_145477382196292_100002020941455_279573_1267713_n.jpg
After dropping my stuff off we walked down to sign in and has we were walking by, I saw the Pikabuddy family! We chatted on the way and he told me that he made it in LCQ while JRank didn't. I was really sad for him. He totally needed it. I was waiting in line with a buddy of mine from my region when we mentioned Smogon and, Alaka, who was standing behind us, said "You don't talk about Smogon!" I didn't think much of it has I knew who he was, yet he didn't know who I was. Too bad. I would have like to have talked to him. Later, I was ambushed from behind by the coolest asian at Nationals, CYBERTRON!!!!
282342_145454358865261_100002020941455_279531_4169972_n.jpg

Is he blinking? Or he is just asian? I'm not sure...

Cybertron really made the trip for me, introducing me to KingofKongs, Unreality, Maski, Human, Kid Kadabra, ISS and everybody else I didn't mention by name. However, I met most of them on Saturday. After I registered, I walked back to the hotel and relaxed and watched DBZ until dinner time. I walked down into the lobby and saw Cybertron with Maski and Snakes and Lil' Zheng hanging out. I just stopped and said hi before walking off to get dinner. Maski complemented Cybertron and I on our hair saying that, long hair is awesome. I ate at T.G.I. Fridays and saw Alaka walk by. He yelled something at me and held out some Zoroark toy from McDonalds or something. I think he asked if I wanted it or not, thinking I was a junior... I don't know. I didn't get the Zoroark. He walked by and went into T.G.I. with a group of Masters including Huy and Duy and I few others. I didn't eat much. Too nervous. I went to bed early has I had a big day ahead of me.

Saturday, July 10th:
My mom and I headed over to the Convention Center early to be there at the start and I talked with a Smogoner who worked in SmeargleStudios and not very much in the competitive scene. He shared my thoughts about doing well, we're both good, but not top quality. I saw a guy wearing a Magikarp shirt and I walked up and complimented him on his shirt and he said he was Alphabet from Smogon. I freaked out has the leader of the Mighty Magikarps was there! He talked down on the MM, saying we were a bad team. LIES! It wasn't long after that Cybertron and Lil' Zheng came and I talked with him and he introduced me to KingofKongs, Unreality, Maski, and Snakes, fully. We chatted for a bit and then when the doors opened, we walked in to get offically registered. We met up with Kid Kadabra, so cool he is, and his friend while we waited in line. It wasn't long after that Human showed up and line-jumped to be with us. We chatted to pass the time and such while we registered. When I stepped up to register my battle box, I guess I forgot to put my team in, so I had to waste a few minutes putting them in. Whoops. Silly me.

Chatting:
I was paired up with Superpokemon67 who won Newark. He said he didn't want to battle against me and neither did I. It was a mutual agreement, we both wanted the winners of the regions in the finals. I understand his concern about going against me. Thankfully we didn't have to go against each other immediately.

Round 1:
It was against a little kid. I blame my loss for waking up early, forgetfullness, and not paying any attention to the game what-so-ever. I forgot Gigalith had Explosion (lol) and he OHKO'd my Eelektross, and almost killed my Conkeldurr. His Volcarona finished it off two turns later. 1-0 victory for him. But, it was okay! I had 5 more rounds to go and I could lose one or two rounds and still make it in! It also helped that everyone else lost their first match except Cyber and Maski. Team Seniors needed a comeback.
0-1

Round 2:
I went against Superpokemon67. Wow. We were on the moniter and Alaka and a bunch of the Masters watched the battle. He falls for my Trick Room bluff and leads with a Chandelure and something else. His Chande lives the Water Spout, and used Imprision. Hydreigon protected. He had a Bisharp in the back and it came down to switching and predicting. He sent out bisharp, I would switch out Jelli... I actually pulled an Alaka and used surf on my own Conkeldurr. Lol. I got a talk from one of the Masters about that. I laughed. I ended up winning 3-0. 1-1 standing. Most of the Smogoners were also 1-1. I was worried I would have to battle one of them.
1-1

Round 3:
I battled Wom Kim, a very silent asian wearing a cool Pikachu hat. The battle began and really I don't remember anything. I ended up winning the battle, it was either 2-0 or 3-0... Not close, and not a sweep.
2-1.

Round 4:
I battled Reuniclusking, who got 4th at my region. He had earlier told like eight people half of my team, key things like, scarf jelli and such. I was really pissed off at him. I told him off. I got payback later. His team was super trick room. It was Druddgion, Amoonguss, Reuniclus... etc. He said he wasn't running Trick room and I was totally calling bs. I lead with my Chande and Jouster. Turns out he wasn't running trick room. And he totally owned me. I call dirty fighting. He knew my entire team, counter teamed me, and told people. 4-0 bs victory for him.
2-2

Round 5:
So I'm back on the screen against a random. My Mom caught parts of the battle on her camera. He used Landorus and Thundurus lead. Water Spout OHKO'd Landorus and took a large chunk out of Thundurus. I protect with Hydreigon and Jelli lives Thundurus' Electric Gem Discharge with like 40 HP, but gets Parahax. BS PARA HAX! He uses a Terrakion and Chandelure. If once I wasn't Paralized. Terrakion tried to CC Hydreigon, but I protected, while Chande kills Jellicent. Out goes my Conkeldurr. In the end, it boils down to Eelektross vs. his Chandelure. On the last turn I got a worthless bs crit hax to win the battle. 1-0 victory for me. My record is now 3-2. I gotta step my game up!
3-2

Round 6:
Another random. Nice kid. I don't remember too much, except he used Terracott in the back instead of the front, after the counters have been removed. Smart, but I had Conkeldurr. Conkeldurr killed the Terrakion with Mach Punch after it used CC and it was his Whimsicott vs my Conkeldurr. He used Cotton Guard and tried to stall me out. I got a Crit and won. 1-0 victory. My record stood at 4-2. I walked over and saw LPFan and his family who unfortunately didn't make it through LCQ somehow. They wished me luck in my last battle and told me I could do it. I then talked with the Smogoners and Zheng had the most hax ever. He was 4-2 has well. Maski was 5-1 and so was Human. KingofKongs was also 4-2. The pressure was on for us to make it into the finals.
4-2

Final Round:
I see Cyber got paired with ReuniclusKing. I knew Cyber had to win, so I did the number one thing any good friend would do. Ruined Reuniclus strategy. I told Cyber, just run all out attack, he doesn't use protect or Trick Room. Of course he said he was running trick room, and he didn't. Cyber won. You're welcome. What do you know... I get paired with the guy I was talking with at the beginning. He said he was 3-3, and considered throwing the match to guarantee that one of us would get in. We were stationed at the monitors, so I told him not to. I used the standard SazaJelli. He had a Scarfed Chande which dumped on my Jelli, OHKO'ing it. I frowned. I know it was over from there. I lost and was upset. I knew some people would have a chance of getting in with 4-3, but I had a feeling I wouldn't get it. I looked at the rankings and I got 32nd. Not bad for my first year. I saw that KingofKongs barely slipped in at 16th, Reuniclus still slipped in at 15th. Whatevers. I was pretty upset with my performance, but everyone said making Nationals is a feat of itself. Jee. Everyone is so supportive. I love you guys. We watched the Masters and then hung out the rest of the day. Not much of importance to cover.
4-3. 32nd.

Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!, July 11th:
Today was the big day. For everybody else at least. While all the winners were in the finals, Kid Kadabra, Alphabet, JRank and I watched the battles and hung out. ShinyWeavile made an apperance. Neato! KingofKongs got haxed out in round one by Misquitox. Reuniclus lost in round one has well, has I predicted, bluffing doesn't work in finals. And everyone else advanced. In the Quarter-Finals, Unreality somehow scored two crits on his own pokemon for major lol. He unfortuantely lost. Not much else really happened EXCEPT SNAKES AND CYBERTRON WON!!!! I didn't really get a chance to talk to Wolfe until after he had won. Too bad. For the brief five minutes I talked to him he was so nice. I asked Cybertron where he was going to go and he failed at saying Disneyworld.

After the winners got their pictures taken, Team Seniors got this amazing picture. Expertly uploaded to my Facebook page.

262025_145479692196061_100002020941455_279575_4024540_n.jpg

From left to right:
Lil' Zheng, Maski, Cybertron, Kid Kadabra, Snakes, Me, Superpokemon67, ShinyWeavile, Unreality, and Human. Lol how Human is staring directly at the camera.

Afterwards we all rested and relaxed. I went to the Indianapolis zoo, touched a shark, which is super cool by the way. It feels like a stingray. And for those who haven't touched a stingray, it feels like algae. Very slimy. I also saw the worlds laziest penguin ever. It literally just sat there aganist the glass for about five minutes. How do I know? I sat there and watched it in amazement.

261876_145483748862322_100002020941455_279580_1589374_n.jpg

After the zoo, we all hung out on the second floor and met up with HitmonRocker, who lost to Human in round one of finals. We did a multi-team tournament and team Masters won. Lame. We then went swimming, got in the hot tub at the hotel, found some pokeball beachballs, threw them at Cyber. We also played the funniest game ever. It was a version of Marko Polo, only it was Drcossack and regionals. Lol. We got out and made some troll teams on PO. They worked, which was the best part. We also played the Ludicolo song and we all did a group dance to it. Amazing. But, unfortunately, the day had to end. I went upstairs, finished watching season three of DBZ, and went to bed regretfully.

Monday, July 12:

I'm sure no one on Team Seniors wanted the trip to end, but, all good things come to an end. I caught a shuttle and who else but Superpokemon67 was riding the same shuttle to the airport! We chatted, talked about next year, and how we looked forward to it again. We had to split paths but on the way to our terminal, I saw Unreality and Captain Falcon! They were using there troll team on PO which consists of Nasty Plot Zoroark, Special Attacking Landorus, and Specs Terrakion. Winners. Laster, Dtrain walked up and talked for a bit about how he did, saying he was 4-0 and then went 4-3. Ouch. He was a cool guy. Too bad I didn't get to talk to him longer than five minutes. It wasn't long until their flights left and I was left waiting for mine. Right when I got home from the airport, I had to unpack, and then repack has we turned right around to go to Galveston for a weeks vacation.

Conclusion:
KARP, KARP KARP KARP. KARP KARP KARP. KARP.
Next year, Team Seniors will still dominate. Unfortunately, we lose both Unreality, Kid Kadabra, Alphabet123 and Human to Masters, but gain Snakes. Lets hope we will still dominate.

Pros:
- Metting everybody from Smogon
- New friends, Kid Kadabra being super cool
- The drive to do well
- Me for getting 32nd
- Cybertron for owning
- Snakes for owning
- Smogon for owning, not just the winners, everybody who made went
- Huy and OmegaDoughnut for the greatest battle of all time
- Best trip this summer

Cons:
- JRank for losing at LCQ
- ShinyWeavile for getting trolled by Priceline :(
- Me for getting 32nd
- The trip for having to end
- JW Marriott think it's okay to charge $13 dollars a day for internet

All in all, this was the best trip of the Summer. I look forward to hopefully seeing everbody again next year.

"Maski complemented Cybertron and I on our hair saying that, long hair is awesome."

bs haircut HAX

HAAAAAX

IM NOT PRETTY ANYMORE

it was awesome to meet you dude and it was even better to chill with you all weekend. hopefully we can both make it down next year but i have NO IDEA because i'll be in mastars x(

GREAT REPORT! EXCEPT FOR BS HAX. You forgot we met in the airport to? :P
It was nice meeting you, even if it was for like 5 minutes lol.

Nice warstory. The one thing I don't like about the whole Seniors/Masters division thing is that it seems to split people up into different camps. I barely saw anyone from the group you hung out with, but I met a ton of Masters. At least it gives more people a chance to go to Worlds, so take the good with the bad.

You forgot we met in the airport to? :P
It was nice meeting you, even if it was for like 5 minutes lol.

Added it. Very nice meeting you. Next year we need the Seniors and Masters to all hang out. Except most of them go out drinking...

I love you Kenan <3

Strong warstory! You made the weekend so much more awesome, and it was so great finally meeting you. (You're so much cooler in real life than online dud)

KARP KARP KARP KARP KARP
Yo! I'm cool.

How come you didn't put me in the pros section for being the coolest person ever?? ABC didn't thank me either! You guys are so ungrateful!

EDIT: and wtf, why didn't you mention that we would be losing ME to masters too??? HUH? It's like I don't exist or something!

4-3 is still good shit, and as you found it's as much about hanging out as about mons, anyway. Always other people to cheer on, and how often do you get to disappear from reality for a few days and be surrounded by Pokemon people?

Added it. Very nice meeting you. Next year we need the Seniors and Masters to all hang out. Except most of them go out drinking...

It's tough with the group size too(the chodes and the Ducks groups combined from Masters alone would have been right around 40 people), since I know I have a hard time even catching all the other older guys, but we should definitely all hang out together more next year if we can -- most of us never saw each other away from the events, lol. The bar we go to is outside and allows minors but we usually ended up back at hotels or the pool anyway, could definitely find places away from the booze to hang out.

He forgot me too, and I'm a Master next year as well, but nice warstory.

The most annoying part is we were in the same hotel most of the time, just all over the place >_<

That could probably be solved by making a group thread or something and figure out where everyone was staying/what we should do/what people would bring (like metabou+bluecookies both brought their N64 so we were playing that a couple of nights) I thought ducks planned everything out except not all of us had each others cell #'s so there were times we couldn't even get in contact with each other. I was at the airport and for 30 min i didn't know ninahaza, firestorm, caffwin were like a few feet from me. Luckily tyler was on and highlighted jesus like 20 times lol

Nice warstory Lucien! I remember you - you were the kid everyone thought was like 11 xD The match against Reuniclusking sounds bad, but in Swiss everyone was telling each other's teams. Good job though :)

Lol, JRank thought I was 12, and I'm the same age has him. The match was terrible, but he was telling people BEFORE swiss began. But yeah. I had a lot of fun and did execellent for my first year.

I went ahead and added Kadabra and ABC in the section about leaving to join Masters.

Not all of us drink

Well I do. So I should fit just fine into the Masters. (Does drinking Root Beer count?)

But yeah, everyone from Smogon should really all meet up for dinner or something and try to bridge the gap in the age differences. I mean, it's a lot harder for me has everyone suspects I'm like 8 or something.

Yea definitely. It was cool seeing seniors form their own little group but we should def make time for all of smogon to hang out together.

Nice meeting you! You were a lot better in real life than I was expecting. Too bad you listened to drcossack and got help from him, you might have done better on your own. But what can you do?

Man, karma's a bitch, ain't it? :cloud:

If you see me (or Jabba, as it were (more on that in my story!)), you know the drinking isn't far away. But like others have said, we did plenty of drinking at places where you guys could have come too!

I thought ducks planned everything out except not all of us had each others cell #'s so there were times we couldn't even get in contact with each other.

This is a good point, as well as what Synre said about big groups being impossible to control. Getting everyone to go to Scotty's Saturday was a miracle! Mostly, everyone would be standing around and one or two people would decide to do something and get followed by whomever else wanted to do the same thing. The only quasi-planned events were the hotel pool parties, and word about those didn't even spread nearly enough!

And it's not like I didn't see a large group of them at TGI's. It also didn't help that I was just with my mom and a nobody whom no one knew.

Eh, don't worry about that, I've met plenty of young Smogoner's moms before. She's probably not too far off my age, next time I'll chat her up and give you guys some time to roam free.

This this this. Also, I definitely texted the 5 people who's number I have and weren't in the group that formulated the plan for the pool party and told them to come and to tell the people they were with!

OT: Great story, congratulations on doing as well as you did. I didn't get a chance to meet you, but if you go to worlds LCQ I may see you there and if not hopefully we will meet next year!

We should probably make an effort to get each others numbers better next year, even within the Masters we were super retarded about that...

We should probably try to find more places where we can all chill too (that arcade/bowling alley/barstaurant place is probably a good idea), the downfall of hotel rooms is that it's really hard to move, let alone mingle and be comfortable... Scotty's has been good for us since we tend to take over the area with the couches and then get a ton of space.

Also I forgot to comment on it last time but that thing with ReuinclusThing is so masterfully done, I laughed pretty hard reading that at the airport earlier. CHOO CHOO< karma train is fuckin rolling into station.

the problem with indianapolis is that it's hotels, convention centers, and you have to walk 6 blocks to the cvs... we had the most success hanging out at the mall and just smushing all the tables together.
