RU Threat List

Probably not. Although I use it a lot I have never seen it online. I do not believe that it is common enough to warrant a spot.

I don't know if anyone has said this yet but lickilicky cannot have Cloud nine and Wish on the same set.

Just thought I would put that out there

This threat list is going to need some serious editing now. No more Venomoth and Rhyperior and stuff, but now we have new things to think about such as Tangrowth, Xatu, and Aerodactyl. Aerodactyl will probably be the premier "lead" now as he can set up Stealth Rocks as reliable as, well, anything, and I feel like Eviolite Rhydon will be seen a lot now because his older brother got banished.

But aren't the tiers going to be updated with all the changes next month?

that chart is far from perfect, e.g. Flame Charge doesn't get the boost, and neither does Bulldoze

Research Thread said:
Confirmed Sheer Force gives a 1.3x boost to moves that have a chance related secondary effect(including 100%) when they hit, but prevents that effect from occurring. Also stops Life Orb recoil from occurring for moves that gain the Sheer Force boost, but still gives the Life Orb boost. Does not apply to moves that have been given the flinch secondary effect by King's Rock. It also disables Shell Bell's healing and your opponent's Red Card and Eject Button. Does not negate the side effect of items thrown with Fling. Moves with a dual secondary effect like the Elemental fangs do not get a double boost in power. (Slipperjeans Afti, El Sargento, mien, 2#, Team Rocket Elite, Pidge, SMZ )

The moves you mentioned both have a 100% chance of happening, and I've heard people debate the potential benefit of using Bulldoze so you don't have to take life orb recoil.

He is correct. Flame Charge's speed boost and Bulldoze's speed drops are primary effects, as they always happen, same with Superpower. Secondary effects do not always occur (unless its a 50% chance with a Serene Grace boost)

From Darmanitan's Analysis (which is classified as done):

Flame Charge may also seem like a good idea, but despite the increase in power, the boost in Speed is removed due to Sheer Force, completely removing its usefullness.

Just because a move has a chance of something happening of 100% does not mean that it cannot get the sheer force boost too. If you follow one of the links at the end of my quote from the research thread, you will see that it also states that the confusing effect is removed from DynamicPunch even though it always confuses.

Anyway, on to stuff from the research stats in relation to the threatlist:

9.) Rhyperior
13.) Durant
19.) Sceptile
31.) Gorebyss

Guys below the Percentage Cut off for the eventual NU on the list
56.) Slowking
60.) Swellow

Guys Below #63 Missingo on the list

86.) Munchlax
96.) Lickilicky
115.) Audino – putting this in as a reference since it was removed from the list
149.) Huntail - Edit2: He may rise with Gorebyss gone, but that spot might also be taken by Smeargle who is currently #84
154.) Golduck
164.) Articuno

Guys above the percentage cutoff for the eventual NU but not on the list
15.) Electivire

Do with this what you will Xephyr, though, if you remove anything from the list, I recommend you save the entry somewhere in case its usage rises in the future.

Edit: Also congratulations on having all but three of the top 35 on your list already. Very good work.

The research thread hasn't been updated in AGES, and I trust the page on Sheer Force more reliable than the page on Darmanitan. http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79195

look at the list. Not surprisingly, there is no Flame Charge, Superpower, or Bulldoze.

If we're going by the last time things were updated, The last time that OP from the Sheer Force thread you posted was updated was September 24, 2010 whereas that post from mien was from November 7, 2010. Also, check out pages five and six of that thread you posted. There is discussion there as well about how moves with a 100% chance of having an effect can still be boosted by Sheer Force (they mention Dynamic Punch and Icy Wind).

On Topic: With the usage stats now out, I believe the true (or possibly troll) question we should be asking is, with Electivire nearly being the only guy from the top 25 that didn't seem worthy a mention on the threatlist, is Electivire the Electivire of RU? /probably not

Edit: If that was a reaction to the stupidity you saw in my question No Luck Involved, don't worry, I'm not serious. Also, where did you get that picture? Wherever it came from, I approve.

is Electivire the Electivire of RU?

I don't even... My god

Kind of funny how we've all been talking about how threatening Crawdaunt is, yet he wouldn't even make the cut if/when they add a NU tier.

Electivire is actually good in RU, I've swept with him multiple times, even without a Motor Drive boost. Don't knock him 'til you try him.

As I said in the edit I added about four hours before you posted, I wasn't being serious. I was just noticing how it (with its terrible reputation from OU last gen) and Krookodile are the only things with above 5% usage not on the threat list and attempted to point that out in a humorous manner that, in retrospect, might have been hard to detect through the internet.

Top top or top 5 top?

Also, no love for Slaking. Granted his ability is less than desirable but in a tier where the quality of walls (bar Cresselia + random eviolite abusers) he should be able to revenge a lot of things.

In a tier with no Skarmory, Jellicent, and Protect Gliscor CBKing would demolish. I used to use him like an Explosion team - once I am in the lead, I just start saccing Pokemon to bring in Slaking for a kill one at a time. Team Preview definitely helps when you can start throwing out your team for a Slaking "sweep." Undoubtedly there are times where saccing Slaking would be more beneficial than attempting kills with it.

It's uninvested bulk on the physical side is great to sponge even boosted hits, too, allowing Slaking to even afford to stay in while it loafs. Just watch out for Substitute / Protect users (although you can bring in Slaking on a predicted Protect).

Really? Sorry, wrong mechanics then.

From my experience with Slaking, its team ends up being pretty defensive, since its team mates need to switch into whatever monster that will try to exploit the free turn. Rapid Spin support is pretty much mandatory due to the hit-and-run strategy of Slaking. You can get by without Wish Support. Fighting Types are great offensive partners to remove defensive Rocks, Steels, and Normals. Having a Ghost Buster (Dark Type with Pursuit) or any other effective strategy to either lure or wear down Ghosts would also be a good idea since Dusknoir and Cofagrigus would be a pain in the arse.
