np: UU Suspect Test Round 2 - Cold As Ice

I'm currently of the mindset that it's not broken, mainly because everybody always manages to hit me 6 times in a row when they're paralyzed with the hail up. 60% chance, and it hits me so much it's ridiculous. Fuck, even Stone Edge hit me..four times in a row..and that's got like a 48% chance. Rage aside, I don't even think I've seen a Smeargle as of now. However, that seems rather..iffy, based off your description. That requires a lot of things to be deficient in someone's team building (no dedicated status absorber, no Pokemon with taunt, no phazer, no hazer..). At that point, someone just deserves to lose against a stat upper.
 
Yes, exactly. If you're being immediately threatened by a Smeargle because you have nothing to take the Spore, nothing to Taunt it, nothing to Phaze it, nothing to do ANYTHING...you deserve to get swept. Smeargle is not worth a ban. It just requires not sucking when you build your team.
 
I'd say this question is "out of place", but there's no SQSA thread and apparently it's not such a simple question as one would expect, seeing how no one knows the answer.

When does the next round start?
 
It's been a month since round 2 ended. I honestly can't think of a reason for why this hasn't started yet aside from laziness and neglect. It's definitely not from people having no time on their hands; after all, it's August. Maybe if we give enough of a fuck, something will happen?
 
It's probably not laziness or neglect, but there has to be some reason we can be told... I really want round 3 to start, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. We've been waiting for over a month now. Just open the round 3 thread, reset the UU ratings and maybe even update the ladders. The latter isn't even necesseray, as the first two can be done now very simple.
 
Yeah. Laddering doesn't matter at all right now because, even though I'm high up, it could get reset at a moment's notice. >.<. I find Pokemon a lot more fun with a ladder that matters, tbh. Hopefully they reset soon.
 
Round 3 hasn't started yet because they're not going to start Round 3 now.


I know the current situation is frustrating but think, guys.

That... is probably the least amount of information I have ever garnered from smogon since the last time I saw TorchicBlaziken post.

Not trying flame someone I don't know, merely stating a (hopefully) harmless observation.

Seriously though, this round has to start soon. I guess middle of the month is kind of inappropriate but it gets kind of vexing when you don't hear so much as a whisper from the "higher-ups" about when it'll start back up. Any info at all at this point would be nice.
 
There's still some problems with the server scripts after the long downtime last month. They'll start the next round once they're sure they can keep illegal teams and unreleased DW abilities off the ladder.

Wait, so that was the problem? Well that's a hell of a lot better than the crazy smogon council conspiracy I was unfolding in my head. A lot more boring, but better.

I guess in that case we've gotta use as many uber/OU pokes as possible and see if we can help. I mean if we tell them about which ones make it through, that would be great help. I think. That would help, right?
 
Let's get back to talking about frosslass, yes very good okay. I think frosslass is broken under the support characteristics.
It can support in these many ways
1.Free Spikes
2.Spin Block
3.PP Stall with snow cloak hax
4.Cripple opponents with thunder wave
5.Haxes opponents out of anything and everything and can sit there with not a care in the world

Seriously it's a chomp, just not offensive. I know it's harder to ban pokemon when it isn't overwhelming offensively, but really hail is the only perma weather in this tier which froslass just adores. Ban frosslass.

I don't think it works that way... If anything you'll just be asking to get banned, because that is grounds for getting banned on the server, I believe they're still "writing" or "programming" the script or whatnot. Eitherway, its not going to help them at all to abuse the tier glitch.
 
Actually, I'm pretty sure this is the reason Round 3 hasn't started:

Smogon servers were down for most of July, so there were no stats.

There was supposed to be a teir update with the July stats, as it would have been 3 months.

Therefor, the logical explanation for the R3 delay is that the UU leaders are waiting for the August stats, so that R3 dosen't have a teir-shake up halfway through. It would be rather distrupting to the UU suspect tests if, say, Whimscott, Tornadus and Machamp fell in halfway through.

It might not even work, since illegal teams are currently allowed to be used due to lack of functioning scripts, which will definitely affect the stats for August. I suppose it's that we wait for all the scripts to be up, collect 1 round of stats, then begin Round 3.

Although it'd prolly be October by then x_x
 
Mamoswine is going to be OU right? because if it's UU, then there is no way you can go with a straight ban on froslass and not snow cloak instead. I was against a hail team and ran through it for the most part, and only mamoswine was left. I attacked for the final KO - Snow Cloak Miss and he OHKO'd me - sent out next pokemon - SC miss and mamo KO'd me - last pokemon sent out, I was lucky not to miss. Mamoswine is truly the closest comparison to a "Hail Garchomp", way more than froslass IMO.
 
I guess most of the people in charge are just really busy. Like they've probably got jobs or whatever.

However, I hope they're aware that there's a lot of people who DO have spare time on their hands, who would be more than willing to do whatever might need to be done to help. :)

This is pretty much the one and only reason the next round hasn't started yet. Sarenji and Blue Kirby are (or should be) working their asses off getting the scripts up to par. If you haven't noticed, they've even implemented a Tournament Channel on the Smogon server (which required programming).

Of course we realize the delay >.> If we could have started it a month ago we would have, believe you me (I want my RU dammit >:( ).

Finally, no it has nothing to do with the tier changes. Tier changes would happen exactly after this round is over (they happen after every three rounds, the last round was the second round).
 
To me Heracross is ruining UU. CB Heracross 2HKOs the entire metagame, there are literally 0 safe switchins. SD Heracross 2HKOs every wall in UU and OHKOs most of them. BU Heracross is impossible to take down without a strong Flying Move/ SE Special move. Heracross in general is impossible to beat without revenge killing.

Staraptor was the only deterrence keeping Heracross from ruining the metagame. Now that its gone, Heracross has replaced it as the power hitter destroying everything in its path. I call for an instant Heracross ban.
 
Hey. I made this account a while ago, made a thread, but never got around to getting in this community. So may this be my introduction!

My favorite UU set has to be Calm Mind + Baton Pass Espeon. It is very dangerous. If you can pair it with Agility + Roost (or Baton Pass) Zapdos, you will likely win the match with +1 +1 +2 Zapdos. It's a great combo, I hope some of you try it out!
