5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

So.. to find my DS's parameters, save somewhere, hard reset the game, then check the IVs of the first thing I catch?

Also, are normal trainers that don't move considered wandering NPCs?

1) Make sure to take note of the time you started the game, but otherwise yes.

2) They're only wandering NPCs if they move randomly. Those that don't move at all or have a preset route shouldn't cause problems. Bear in mind that randomly changing which way they face counts as randomly moving (someone correct me if I'm mistaken here).

Is there a difference between "withdraw" and "move" when bringing from PC to party?

I'm going for a Victini on frame 210 (initial frame 53) and after doing a +3 through steps and 22 moves (switching Pokémon in the same party spot 22 times, for 22 +7's) I wind up with 104 instead of 210. I've confirmed the 53, but now when I try to figure out what one "move" gets me, I'm getting at least three different wrong answers, none of which are on my seed. :/ Any ideas?

edit: Never mind, apparently I got mixed up on whether to do steps or flips. Derp, haha.

Like, when I press yes to the ok to turn on wireless communications for the C-Gear? Or when the season thing is done?

Erm, ignore that part of what I said before. I'm pretty certain the only DS parameter you need for C-Gear RNGing is your MAC address (again, someone correct me if I'm mistaken here).

Your full parameters are only needed for non-C-Gear, in which case the time you need to remember is the time you started the game from the DS menu (though it's typical that the time you actually hit is 1 second later).

Using RNG Reporter 9.92 BETA, catching wild Pokémon in Victory Road 1F, MAC Address 0009BFC8569E.

While I can still manage to RNG just fine, I kept finding that the characteristics weren't what was expected, e.g. hexa-flawless (14B11BA65B1BC2F7, frame 1 of the MTIVRNG) Pokémon having "Mischievous" when they were expected to have "Capable of taking hits" or "Often dozes off" when they were expected to have "Mischievous" (14B11BA65B1BC2F7, frames 50 and 61 of the PIDRNG respectively, wild Pokémon, no synchronizer). The IVs were correct, so the correct frame was hit.

They seem to be correct for the expected PIDs, so does this mean I happened to get wildly different PIDs from what I was expecting that just happened to have the expected natures, genders, and distance from one another (Rash/Impish, F/F (for 50%F), 11 frames apart)?

Alternatively, is there something weird about Victory Road 1F?

Also, does getting the wrong Timer0 throw off the initial PIDRNG frame too? I kept finding that the number of advances to hit frame 61 with the wrong Timer0 kept hitting frame 50 with the correct Timer0.

(In case anyone just worked out that what I was aiming for was an Impish Deino, it's for breeding purposes and the other parent has the nature I want.)

Did you use the "Get IVs from Frame 1" Button?

Nope (entered manually instead) but I did notice it chooses the wrong frame to get IVs from.

I havent noticed this. Unless the Method 5 PIDRNG is displaying a wrong PID then it works fine for me. I did the first 10 on my own and got the same results.

-EDIT- Out of it lately

The seed is the one listed (twice) in the post you quoted (14B11BA65B1BC2F7). It seems to be an incorrectly displayed PID, since everything else is as expected:

  • Getting the expected IVs from the MTIVRNG on frame 1 (so I'm not needing to advance it at all, let alone in a way that affects the PIDRNG).
  • Getting the expected natures, encounter slots, and genders from the PIDRNG on frames 50 and 61.
  • Don't know about the abilities since the respective Pokémon both have only one non-DW ability each.
  • However, the PIDs themselves seems not to match up (I don't know what PIDs I'm getting, but neither has the expected characteristic).
I haven't checked anything further yet since I got what I was hunting for, but I'll update with what happens with the offspring now I've started breeding:

  • xx/31/xx/31/xx/xx says "Likes to thrash about" as expected, but it only has two 31s anyway. Also, got wrong Timer0 ("as expected" refers to what it says for the seed I did get) >_<.
  • Hexa-flawless says "Mischievous" as expected, and was what I was aiming for; seems it was just those I was trying to catch?

I got confused...

in Vgen Wonder Cards I have to advance IV or PID frame to get my seed?

Well, with wondercards the IVs are tied to the PID frame, so when you advance the PID frame you also advance the IV frame. So using Chatot works the easiest! For example, if your starting frame is 47 and your target is 50, just do 3 chatot summary flips :)

I posted yesterday and deleted my post because I gave up, but I picked up my game again so I have another question.

I am trying to abuse MY ID/SID. I hit the correct time and the right seed and progress through the introduction normally without saying no to Professor Juniper. However, every single time I end up on a frame that is above the initial frame reported by RNG reporter. I have tried this a few times: once the initial frame was 25 but I hit 31, the second the initial frame was 25 but I hit 27. Here are screenshots:

What could be going wrong?

It means that 25 is impossible to hit for that seed. Don't pay attention to the initial frame column; always calibrate what your initial frame is for a specific seed. I suggest looking for a higher target frame, 30+ should work.

I have no idea what it could be, but try picking a seed with a low initial frame and a higher target frame, then find out what frame you hit and advance accordingly the next time.

Edit: Kiebin's smarter, listen to him! xD

After you get the mystery gift of the victini from the wifi, does the iv set stay permanently or Can the iv set still be rng abused and changed differently (when you get it from the pokemon center) even after you got from the wifi?

The wondercards are like 4th gen RNG abuse. The PID and IVs are tied together. And, why wouldn't they be able to be RNG abused? I and several members have abused them already.

EDIT: Oh, and IVs are set when you pick it up at the PokeMart.

Thank you Kiebin and Princess of Johto, that helped me hit the correct frame and eventually get my shiny Timid Hidden Power Fire 70 Snivy. You might want to mention the initial frame problem in your guide though!

I've never RNGed a Wondercard Pokemon before. Anyone want to help me out?

I know this has been asked a lot lately with the release of the V-Create Victini the other day, so sorry if I'm being redundant.

I'm about to restart my Black (for Victini farming purposes). Is there any reason why I would have to recalibrate?
