Sorry for the double post, but then what possible effective movesets could I use if my Spiritomb is Bold with 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 6 Sdef? I can heartscale for older moves, and his Special Attack IV is very good...

I guess my posts in the breeding thread quickly got buried, so reposting:

I have breeding questions...I was wanting to whine about this when Smogon was down, but I'm kinda done with breeding at least for a little while I think.

I was breeding machops. Both parents were adamant machops, the mother was holding an everstone, yet it seemed 75% or more of the female babies were not adamant. The males seemed 50% or so, but I'd get strings (interrupted by males) of like 5 non-adamant females in a row and stuff, I'm pretty sure...and it's especially annoying since you only have a 25% chance of a female anyway.

Also, Surgo or someone told me the hardest stats to pass down were like HP, def., and sp.def...is this right? Both parents had 31 Sp.Def. IVs I think, and I had a TON (probably 50% at least) of 30 or 31 IV Sp.Def. babies.

Finally, I was reading a GameFAQs FAQ somewhere (maaaaybe by Team Rocket Elite, but I'm not sure), and the author said they had crunched a lot of numbers and thought there was a high chance of the babies' IVs being between their parents IVs. I know this doesn't hold in a lot of cases, but is there any sort of truth to this?

@Blizzard: It was actually some tests done by BobDoily (certain of it), peterko (probably), and X-Act (I think) in which it was discovered that the HP and Defense IVs (it was not Sp. Def) were passed down less often than the other IVs.

Ah, thanks. I don't think attack got passed as often as I'd like too. :(

Now I can continue failing at pokeradar chaining. All my knowledge so far is of limited usefulness on the subject!

If I had a staryu in the daycare that lost all its tm moves because it leveled 50+ lvls can I still get them back with heart scales?

Can pokémon from the 3rd gen pass down IV's when they breed with pokémon caught in the 4th gen?
It worked for me with I bred with both smeargle & houndour as they both had flawless hp/sp.atk/speed and a female offspring had all 3 along with smeargle's nasty plot & dark pulse thanks to sketching from my honchkrow.

Here's my question: how does the pokeradar work? I tried using it on route 201 for nidorans but all I saw were bidoofs and starlys and was walking (not biking) in the grass.

Unfortunately, no. All the Move Relearner does is give you a chance to give moves that particular Pokemon learns naturally back. However, if that Staryu acted as the male parent (I'm not sure how that works since Staryu only breeds with Ditto iirc) and the baby can learn these TM moves, it might have inherited them.

Maybe I misunderstood what you said, but does it mean if I breed a Boltbeamer Starmie with a Ditto, the offspring will have Boltbeam? And, if they forgot them somehow, they'll still be able to relearn them via the Move Relearner?

BTW, considering Ditto always take priority at the Everstone feature, I believe the Starmie would act as the male parent.

The offspring will have Boltbeam. But once again, the Move Relearner is for level-up moves only. The game doesn't keep track of what moves an individual Pokemon used to have.

You need to keep trying. if you radar a pokemon like bidoof, KO it, you should have another grass sequence, and just keep at it, they are rare.

My Timid Azelf has perfect speed IV, how much EVs should I give it so it's efficient. Efficient meaning it can outrun the necessary stuff and not have any EVs wasted. I know I should reach at least 351 to outspeed Gengar, but is there anything else?

What would be a good EV spread/moveset for a Timid Palkia?

I was thinking: Spacial Rend, Surf, Aura Sphere, ?

Thanks in advance.

I just brought this up in the shiny hunting topic.

When breeding, when is "shiny" decided:
1. When the egg is made, similar to gender, nature
2. When you accept the egg, similar to IVs

If it is the first, then obviously you can softset for better IVs. I myself have never hatched a shiny so I have never been able to test this.

Does anyone know how the Slot machines work in DP? So far, I'm only able to choose 3 coins as an option and one time this Clefairy appeared out of no where and cheated for me. I wish someone would make a topic about the slot machine mechanics.

It works something like this. Each game costs 3 coins, and you play until the Clefairy comes out.. I'm not sure of the specifics of how to make it come out but get a 777 or GGG (It's not too hard in this mode) to enter the bonus mode. In the Bonus mode, just follow the clefairy's actions to get massive profit, each game is only 1 coin, and also when the moon is red, don't do what the clefairy says. I don't know what's with the white moon. Basically, each bonus round is 15 games, and then either clefairy goes back to it's ball, or he continues to the next round. If you hit round 10+, talk the the lady at he counter to get Explosion TM.
