Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Good to know! I assume that once you're hitting 29/30+ the IVs (usually) won't make too much of a difference.

Time to get a decent shiny spread!
 
^ in 4th gen if you didn't abuse your ID/SID you may not have any good shiny spreads at all.

So you might have to go like 25+/X/25+/25+/25+/25+, but non shiny spreads will be good and don't settle for anything but the best for those(use the 30's like b4).
 
I'm hoping it will be easier in the 5th gen when my copy of Black arrives... Not that shiny spreads are the be all and end all, but they're nice

Since IVs, nature, and PID are unrelated in 5th gen, you can get any spread shiny with any ID (though sometimes you might have a hard time finding a seed if you get unlucky), so yes, it will be easier.
 
Damnit damnit damnit.

I hit my seed and delay again for Lugia and I got to Frame 51 and went and battled Lugia. I caught it and checked its nature and it wasn't Impish. It was a Calm one. I checked the IVs and it matched two nearby frames (frame 50 and frame 58). What happened here? Did walking to lugia with 6 pokemon in my party advance my frame 6 times? If so, how do I correct it?
 
The simplest solution would be to just advance 6 frames less, I'd imagine. Alternately, you could walk around a bit until you trip the step counter and re-save.
 
He accidentally tripped the step counter and advanced the frame by 6. But what I don't get, is that if you advanced by 6, how did you hit 58? You advanced to 51. 51+6 is 57, not 58.
 
Alternatively depending on the time for the seed he used the date could have rolled over. That advances the frames by some amount.

I got to frame 51, but Lugia's Monster frame kicked my frame over to 52 (my target frame). The steps made it go to 58 I assume.

I'm advancing my frames right outside lugia's main frame with Elm calls. Yeah I know I can do it with radio but i decided against it with Lugia. I don't think I can pick up the stations I was to pick up in his cave either...
 
Just had a quick one regarding HGSS roamers. I've caught 2/3 of them, but was using the existing roamers to verify whether or not i had hit the seed in Lance's room (as you can't call Elm.)

Is there any way of verifying the 3rd Roamer from Lance's room?

You had to keep the others roam since I don't think there's another way.

What are you trying to RNG from Lance's room? You can't RNG the 3rd roamer unless it's KOd, and if it's KOd you can't use it to verify your seed.

What are you trying to capture\hatch? Please specify whether you are attempting to breed a shiny Pokémon, breed IVs onto a Pokémon, or capture a Pokémon.

trying to capture a shiny timid elgyem on the 5th (top) floor of the celestial tower in white (no NPCs there). I don't care about IVs on this one, just that it's ability 1, not 0, aka synchronize. Elgyem is all the odd numbered encounter slots on the 5th floor while litwick is the even numbers.

What is your target seed and frame? What is the delay of that seed?

I set month 1, year 2012, min/max frame 1, use true min frame checkbox unchecked, method gen 5 PIDRNG, encounter wild pokemon, encounter slot any, all IVs left blank, ability 1, nature timid, sync nature none, sync checkbox unchecked, id 55554, sid 22789, shiny only checkbox checked, and when I click generate, there is only one seed that has an odd number for encounter slot:

C814E57AA9D1B489

frame 1, pid d27d5278, e slot 3, !!!, Bolded timid, ability 1, 50% F, 1/2/12 9:36.57, C7F, keypress none.

I'm using an original DS, so it has the seconds counter on it. I turn the game on, set the clock to 1/2/12 9:36, hard reset, and press a to load game when the second hand changes to 56 seconds. I say no to turning on the cgear, and then when the game loads up, without moving my character, I use sweet scent or whatever the move is to draw a battle, and I keeep getting litwicks.

How did you verify your seed? If using Elm's responses or coin flips to verify, tell us what YOU got. Not what RNG Reporter says.

The guide says there's no way to verify in bw. I believe my "DS Paremeters" are correct because I used them to determine a seed for set IVs for the stationary musharna and it worked.

Vcnt 60, Vfr 8, GxS 6, Timer0 C7F, actual is 1.

If you tried and failed, what results did you get? You NEED to know this so you can figure out what went wrong. Results are either the IV\nature of the Pokemon you caught, or an ID\SID if you are attempting ID\SID abuse.

I honestly think my issue is user error because I just don't understand what the guide is telling me to do. I find the PIDRNG part to be very confusing. Some of the pictures it puts in it don't match up with what it's describing to do, so I'm not sure if the picture is there as a guide to copy or not. And a number of the fields in the different windows it just doesn't say anything about, so I'm not sure how to set them up.

Again, any help is much appreciated.

First of all, 5th gen help should go in the 5th gen RNG thread here. You'll probably get more help that way.

You should still use Method 5 Standard Seed to find a seed even if you don't care about IVs. The starting PID frame will usually be 40-55 depending on the seed, and unless you can find one with a shiny on that frame, you'll probably need to advance it with Chatots or saving.

That's what I mean. I'm trying to give it the seed from Lance's room after it's been KO'd and without calls / a roamer in the wild I can't verify that I've hit it from Lance without a roamer.
 
Oh, sorry for misunderstanding! You'll have to use the radio to verify your seed and advance your frame. There's a download link for RadioSeed (a program for using the radio to verify/advance your frame) on the first page somewhere. If you can't find the link, I can give you it tomorrow!

Btw, you'll need the Kanto radio update if you don't already have it.

EDIT: Okay so can you not RNG the wondercards nature? Because I seem to have hit the correct seed and frame, but just not the nature is right :S Actually I did hit my frame
