2012 music

lots but the only ones i can think of at the moment are so far unconfirmed - i've heard radiohead plan on going into the studio again and they already were their around october so we might be seeing some more material there. jeff mangum will probably record something.

the beach boys also just came to mind. brian and the gang are getting back together for 2012 with an album planned as well. should be interesting to listen to but probably won't be phenomenal.

Anything from UKF Dubstep. Don't hate me for my mainstream tastes.
fun fact: a friend of mine irl posts videos of himself beatboxing on youtube and a dubstep producer who's featured on ukf rang him this week, asking him to come to london so he could record him beatboxing for a new track.

grabbed some new albums

atleta - verdad (post-rock)
beyond the bridge - the old man and the spirit (prog metal)
buckethead - electric sea (one of his ambient albums)
crippled black phoenix - (mankind) the crafty ape (post-rock)
kris pohlmann band - one for sorrow (blues rock)
rpwl - beyond man and time (prog rock)
so much for nothing - livsgnist (black metal)
tee - trans europe expression (prog rock)

all of them are pretty good except for the rpwl and so much for nothing, which i am yet to listen to.

say anything has this really interesting ability where every other album they write is really bad, Anarchy, My Dear has perpetuated this pattern

anyone who doesn't mind an eclectic album that's a couple of hours long should check out Aidan Baker - The Spectrum of Distraction. just gonna copy/paste a post i read on another forum which sums it up pretty well.

"96 tracks meant to be played in a random/shuffled order featuring drummers that have played for bands like Swans, The Jesus Lizard, Jesu, Godflesh, Killing Joke, Locrian, Slowdive, Animal Hospital, and more. First disc is electronic, rock, stoner rock, sludge focused while second disc is more chill and relaxed (e.g. jazzy post-rock). There's also dabbles of noise, drone, psychedelic, ambient, and probably some other things."

the album doesn't really have many conventional songs and getting a jarring mix where everything's all over the place can hurt it but it's well worth a listen

Hi. My friend at school made this song for a mix-tape to be released on February 1st. Before you blow it off as another high-school-amateur-rapper, it is actually a really well done track. The voice-alteration and the style of the beat he chose reminds me of Mellowhype, turned down a few notches.

I really like everything else by them, and I do mean everything, but this album is pretttty bad.

Xiu Xiu and Foxy Shazam delivered though.

@Arcticblast: Where can I hear previews? :A

I'm pretty sure MrsJenkem is their official YouTube channel, and if so The Jesus Hive was the first thing I've found. They also posted Dead Ringers and some songs from their often-pirated-but-never-really-released Pervavor EP since then.

new grimes is simply magical but sadly the best tracks were all released earlier, so with the exception of symphonia ix the rest of the album pales in comparison. still, this girl is the future of music and her wailing ways will eventually pop up in the most mundane of car commercials

on the plus side the song titles are so post-jpop or something that it feels like i'm looking at a boredoms album

DJANGO DJANGO's debut album has got a real nice vibe to it, thoroughly recommend that

Howler and Porcelain Raft have decent records out, they aren't magnificent but listen-able nonetheless

The Super Mash Bros finally released their newest album, after a ridiculously long hiatus.

You can find the album here. If your a fan of Gregg Gilis aka Girl Talk, you'll love this album. If you've listened to the Bros last album, you were probably disappointed. This album is something different. I've been listening to this album, pretty much All Day(if you get the reference, we should be friends). Unlike the Bros last album, this album is really good, and it even rivals Gregg's work. Was really impressed with this album.

Last year was fantastic for me, since 311, Rise Against, Hollywood Undead, Adelitas Way, Foo Fighters, Inna, and Incubus all came out with new albums.

This year? Nine Lives by Deuce is about the only album I'm looking forward to right now. Kinda hoping for Metallica to shed some more light on their next album.
