well for first of all, the rejected sets compendium is much easier to reference. secondly, a locked/outdated analysis doesn't necessarily mean that it's rejected, just it isn't going to go all the way for some reason or another.

Yeah but many rejected analyses that are on the Locked/Outdated analysis like Katakiri's Red Card Jirachi could go to both places right?

i'm making a GBU singles team (the one where you carry 6 pokemon and choose 3 if i'm correct, i've never done it before), and so far i've got DDroost mence, subsplit gengar, CM blissey (yeah), and i was thinking of using a sash endeavor spore TR DR smeagle, and maybe a chandelure. blissey covers the ghost weak and the ghosts cover the fight weak, as well as mence. but i need to cover rock ice and electric, would ferrothorn be good for that position? flash fire chandy covers his massive fire weak and both ghosts cover his fight. (now i would only have 3 pokemon but i'd just be careful and choose a nice core each round based on the opponents team).

oh yes, and i was going to run scarf chandy, but would minimize + bright powder work as well? i'm just brainstorming trying to find a nice team to battle with, but i also want to use pokemon i like.

EDIT: well, other than mence gar and bliss, there all swap-able, i don't have to use smeargle but he seemed effective, and i really like chandy

I don't get IVs or the perfect pokemon concept. I've read the characteristic list from gen 4...likes to relax, alert to sounds, somewhat vain, cuz I couldn't even begin to understand the math involved..lol. From what I understand is that you want to get a poke with 30 or 31, whatever that means, so basically the top two characteristics in each ev area, and then get the nature of the poke you want with that characteristic. So A poke I'm breeding to be modest, I would want it to be highly curious or mischievous, as these are the 30 and 31 in that stat. And would that make them perfect pokes, or am I way off?

the way those "secondary characteristics" work is by telling you which stat your Pokemon has the highest IV in. then, the different ones give you a vague idea of what the stat actually is. For example, if it is mischievous, then it has either a 31, 26, 21, 16, 11, 6, or 1 in that stat, which is the highest IV overall.

make sense?

@ Shineygengar,
It's awesome of how you are working on a GBU Singles team. I am a big fan of the GBU metagame and will Try to help. Now I can suggest thorn can be good but if you want to add some offensive elements to your team I would go with Terrakion.

Terrakion is a great sweeper with wide coverage and cn handle the types you want to counter against (Ice, Electric, and rock).

Here is a set that should be effective in the team you described

Terrakion@ Life Orb
Jolly/ Adamant
252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 HP
- Close Combat
- Earth Quake
- Stone Edge/ Rock Slide
- X-Scissors/ Quick Attack/ Rock Polish

A pretty straight forward set. You also may consider using a choice item but I don't like to be locked into a move.

Also feel free to visit the Smogon GBU forum it's a awesome place and you could find some even better help there.http://www.smogon.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=171

Wigglytuff - #040 (Naughty)
Female (♀) Cute Charm
HP: 27
Att: 16
Def: 14 - 15
SpA: 25
SpD: 23 - 24
Speed: 0 - 1
This is the info I got from the IV calculator with an untouched poke I just caught. The guy in the subway said it has above average potential...with fantastic HP. What does this mean???

Those are the potential IVs that your Wigglytuff has! It is possible to get a total of 31 IVs on any given Pokemon. Each IV adds one point to the category it is assigned (e.g. 27 HP IVs equates to 27 extra points on Wigglytuff's HP stat). So therefore, the 27 HP IVs is a pretty respectable value, while the Attack and Defense IVs are about average. The man on the subway can help you identify your Pokemon's IV values in game. However, his advice is completely outclassed by you using a calculator to get exact IVs. I hope that helps!

Although outdated, this guide has the correct information on IVs. If you have any more questions, feel free to send me a VM or ask them here! Thanks for reading.

WHat moves besides roar switches opponent pokemon out of battle?

Whirlwind is exactly the same as Roar.

Dragon Tail and Circle Throw switch the opponent out, as well as dealing damage. However, those two don't switch the opponent out if its behind a Sub, while Roar/Whirlwind do.

Whirlwind, Dragon Tail, Circle Throw(DT and CT do damage, and will not force them out when behind a sub)
EDIT: Ninja'd. By 2 minutes. Dang I'm slow.

You seem to be wasting your double screens, pretty much.. There isn't really anything but Conkeldurr that really seems to profit from it. Ferrothorn really becomes impossible to take down, but he always was hard to take down.
As for sweepers, I agree with burning man on SSCloyster, but I'd use Quiver Volcarona alongside it, as QD/FieryDance/EarthPower/BugBuzz pretty much sweeps through the entire metagame bar ChansBliss and the flying dragons, and you have Conk and Cloyster to deal with them. Volcarona can even switch in on CBTerrakion using anything but Stone Edge, as it is never 2HKOed factoring in leftovers recovery and screens. If you've got anything more, you should give the RMT thread a try.
That's a good point, maybe I'll just load up the team with boosting sweepers instead of relying on tanks like Ferrothorn. Thanks for the tips.

I have a different question. The aforementioned Espeon with Magic Bounce... how do I get that? According to Bulbapedia, I'd have to catch an Espeon in the Dream World, but I don't know where/how I could find one since I haven't done anything with Dream World yet. Also, wouldn't that mean that its EVs would be messed up since someone has to train an Eevee to evolve it? I'd really rather not have to trade for a perfect Espeon, I would rather breed one myself if there's any way to do that.

So here is my question. When you have a pokemon, every point in a stat counts. You need 4 EV's in a stat to boost it by 1 point at lvl 100. Does that mean you need 8 EV's in a stat to see a 1 point boost at lvl 50? and does the same go for the IV's of the poke?

Yes, but bear in mind that an odd IV will essentially give half a stat point at lvl 50 so only 4 EVs would be required to get an additional point, then 8 for each additional point. E.g. With a 31 IV in speed you'd still need 252 EVs to get the highest possible speed.

Basically, you want the IV+EVs/4 to add up to an even number (or IV/2+EV/8 to add up to a whole number).

It doesn't even have to be a female espeon (Especially since you'd have to evolve a female dream world eevee to get one due to the event evolutions being male only). Female dream world Eevee (with anticipation) or female any-other-eevee-line will work as well. You can try your luck with the GTS or you can ask in a request thread or something, since female eevee was given out proper some time ago.

Oh, and DON'T breed it with ditto. Breeding dream world females with ditto won't allow the dream world ability to be passed down.
