Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 (DS, June in JP, Fall in EU/NA/AU) - Updated May 12th

Woah, two different versions. I didn't expect this. Also am I the only one that is glad that gamefreak is doing something different than using the old formula(2 new gens, release 3rd version later for moar profitz) cause it was getting a bit stale.

also this is my first post after 2 years of lurking :O

Almost everything is random as we know very little about these games. This thread is almost completely one big guessing game. Though I will agree with you on the idea that Serebii will (Probably) have it updated sooner than Smogon will.

Speculation: This has never been done before, but I have a theory that Black and White Kyurem might be evolutions to Zekrom and Reshiram. Legendaries with evolutions, that would break new grounds.. Since they are new pokemon and not alternate forms, it makes some sense.

Wishful Thinking: I want my Emerald Battle Frontier City back. That was the greatest creation ever and to this day what I compare every post game battling complex against. (Seriously, Platinum's frontier is like a tiny amusement park, nowhere near the hugeness)

And as far as Hoenn remakes go, I did at first and still do find it farfetch'd and grasping at straws, but after reading the small coincidences given, I will respect this theory and enjoy it if it happens. But lets think about the facts here;

-Reprogramming the Hoenn region from it's gameboy version to ds would take time and effort, it's not as simple as adding in move tutors. Unless gamefreak has been working on this before the announcement, I'm not sure if they could add in hoenn + new storyline in 3 months.

-Revisiting hoenn would be a lackluster experience, if it is anything like the kanto region in hgss. So much was taken out of that, and I really do not want to play hoenn on ds as much as I love it, if it would turn out like hgss's kanto.

-Combining a second gen5 game and hoenn remakes loses out on standalone hoenn remakes. Money lost.

-The evidance given is very small, again. It seems more like coincidence and hinting at a future remake than hoenn being in bw2.

They're forms of Kyurem not different pokemon.

Yeah for reference:
1. Called Black Kyurem & White Kyurem
2. MAsuda said "names of the new legends" and its how the alt forms of Giratina & Shaymin were referred to

also them being all new Pokemon would cause...issues with BW compatibility, I imagine.

Masuda did call them black kyurem and white kyurem, but he also said he'll release the names later this week. so that causes some confusion..

I believe he said he'd "reveal them later this week" on Pokemon Smash
Which is likely recorded in advance.
 
How about this: These two new Pokemon are the result of the original dragon splitting in two. They eventually turn into Reshiram and Zekrom, Kyurem is the leftover husk, and maybe they all combine or something?
 
I know a lot of people don't like these "fusions" for Kyurem but I don't think they're so farfetch'd. When you consider the backstory of Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem, it makes sense that Kyurem's alternate forms tie in with the other two.

If they were all one pokemon, these forms could be a botched attempt to bring back the original dragon. Maybe based on which version you have, N will use the dragon he ran off with and Kyurem to try to bring it back, not realizing that he only had 2 of the 3 pieces to the puzzle so to speak.

This idea seems really plausible considering kyurem is supposed to represent "wuji" which is the absence of yin and yang (zekrom and reshiram). Kyurem as a husk or shell of the original dragon makes sense

I'm used to the formula by now. In fact, I expect a third game. What matters to me is the content within; give me a new plot, more places to explore, and more endgame fun and I'm happy. That's just how Pokemon is for me at this point. They can play it relatively safe, but innovate little by little and the franchise will have evolved into a creature beyond recognition by Gen 8. Whether or not we like that creature depends on the moves they make before then.

Another thing I like about third games, which I'm sure has been mentioned at one point or another, is the potential for new tutors. Gamefreak gave so many Pokemon the shaft in BW movepool-wise. I want to see them unlock the potential in some of these seemingly useless Pokemon. Can you imagine how good Cofagrigus would be with Recover? And go nuts with the Aura Sphere distribution, seriously. We need it.
 
I have been hounding for an Extreme Speed move tutor for ages PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN GAMEFREAK

okay it probably won't be ultra useful but
 
my predictions vs reality:

doing something other than gray: check
having a reshiram forme with the body shape matching that of reshiram/zekrom: check
for 3ds: darn
option to view battle in AR: see above
large battle frontier style area accessible via battle subway: TBA

my absolutely far-out nutty conspiracy theory: professor oak is the secret head to all crime syndicates: G for galactic, R for rocket, A for aqua, M for magma, PS for plasma (it actually got to the frontpage of pokememes on memebase, so i'm rather proud): highly doubt it

While I don't think this is even possible, I really, REALLY want this to happen just so I can use Eviolite Kyurem (give him a Roost Tutor and you're done)
 
Finally, looks like it's time for me to try 5th gen. I was waiting so long for the better version that inevitably comes out.

So Kyruem is just a beefy chinned, dragon-glacier Shedinja?

I think i'd enjoy White Ninja and Black Ninja more. Image 1 HP vairents of Zekky and Reshi XD
 
I like the idea of these games being just direct sequels instead of the same third installment formula. I hope we get to split country's like in Kanto and Johto again. I liked the fact that you can travel to both regions. Hopefully, the other region is just more lively compared to first time around.
 
Oh yes, that is just awesome. I think I'm going japanese White 2 and English (PAL) Black 2.

My speculation is that it has something to do with the "original legend" that these three apparently split from, but the two formes are still incomplete, seing as in one version it's Black and in one it's White (maybe something with N, seeing as the story had no conclusion really in B/W).

Thank God for that. The whole spring of the year after thing has always really bugged me.

I stopped at D/P. Lets hope b/w2 are great upgrades.

I'm still waiting for a reset tho (like between G/S - Ru/Saph). Am I the only one who would like to see all the mechanics revamped? (better balance of IVs, new distribution style for EVs, new base stats etc?).

On the Hoenn front, that was my favourite region, but it seems like only yesterday when Ru/Saph were actually released! Seems crazy to update them. I highly doubt a newkanto style Hoenn ala g/s.
 
I'm pretty damn sure, that these two new 'mons will carry Freeze Shock and Ice Burn as signature moves. It makes sense, there were no way of using these moves so far. This makes me believe as well that their typings will be Ice/Fire and Ice/Electric as it seems very logic due to this moves. Losing a STAB'd Draco Meteor / Outrage might hurt tho.
As they're meant to be new Kyurem formes, I additionally hope they'll not go into Ubers in competitive play (and are playable on wifi, not like Rotom-A in 4th Gen...)
 
Something occurred to me in the shower: What if these new games have overworld sprites for 5th Gen Pokemon? We could start seeing Unovan Pokes in the Dream World!

Or at the very least have a pokemon follower ala HGSS. Until I'm proven wrong (likely) I'm going to keep hoping that the new alt forms have their HP and Speed stats switched because that would make him insanely good.
