A significant part of the reason Thundurus was banned was because of Prankster. If its beast forme loses it (and gets Defiant as speculated) it might still be counterable in OU, especially if its defenses are lowered.
Is the loss of Prankster worth a potentially slight Sp.Atk increase? Only time will tell.

Landorus also has the potential of being incredibly dangerous. Its other ability is Sheer Force which is almost as good as Sand Force. It doesn't get a boost on EQ but Stone Edge and many of its special attacks do. Of course this is assuming its Sp.Atk stat doesn't get lowered, else Sand Force is way better.

Tornadus looks interesting. If it doesn't get Roost it will be the single biggest troll act ever done by GF after Rotom-S with Levitate. But if it does this means that its normal forme would most likely keep it and it gets Prankster to boot, which is a huge boost.
Bulk Up/Acrobatics/Roost/Brick Break has the potential of being a devastating set and has completely different counters from the standard Hurricane set.
Prankster Roost also means that the opponent will have to guess whether Tornadus is going to be weak to Ice or Fighting in that turn if he relies on priority to revenge kill it, which makes it even more annoying to counter.

Keep in mind that this is assuming the new forme get the hidden abilities. They could also have brand new ones and give the normal formes Defiant/Sheer Force as well.

IMO, it's a good thing that Tornadus gets a defensive forme. It desperately needed to differentiate itself from Thundurus, which is better than him in every possible way except it doesn't get Hurricane (but it gets Thunder instead so no big deal).

The three genies getting new forms still seems like something completely not needed or asked for... Apart from maybe boosting 3DS sales, because I don't see these three being relevant to the storyline. Doesn't take away that they look pretty awesome, especially Tigergenie.

But I have to agree with something someone else said on the previous page of this thread, that GF is really starting to make the power creep too high. Now, I know this is very farfetch'd, but I have the weird feeling (I've already said this a few pages ago) that they're gonna change something radically in the coming games. My reasons to believe this are that they're putting 'too many' things in just BW2, something GF doesn't usually do. Then, the power creep... The power creep is just getting too high. What if they simply start deleting pokemon from coming games, or radically change all the stats of everyone?

Yeah, it's dumb and ridiculous, but I don't see the pkmn series going very far if they have to stuff every single game with more and more, and if they have to give every poke a BST of 800.

We can only wait and see, and DAMN I can't wait for Autumn!

After these games are out and everyone knows all the ins and outs of 'em, let's say E3 2014 or some other big even, they'll FINALLY reveal Pokemon Gray for 3DS!

Why would they make Gray? We already have BW2 with Kyurem as the mascot. And so much stuff is being put into these games, what will be left to do for Gray?

I just don't see the point in Gray now. BW2 is Gray, really.
 
Thundurus serpent forme is cool, Tornadus bird forme looks stupid, and and Landorus cat forme has a distinct cartoony look on its face and is quite funny to look at.

Gym leader/Champ return is an incredible addition to this game. From the looks of it, it appears to be a battle facility in the lines of the stuff in Battle Frontier.

Stone Edge isn't boosted by Sheer Force.
 
Just realized,the kamis are listed really early in the Dex (#198, #199, #200). So there's a chance that 100 last pokemon in the dex will be unobtainable before some kind of (in-game) event. Looking at Beldum line sits at #262, #263, #264, this is kinda possible.

There's nothing to imply that the world tournament is anything like the battle frontier and there is again no evidence that this relates to the chance of move tutors there specifically. (Other locations maybe).

Beldum is known to be in Unova pokedex via being shown many different ways and they normally tend to not advertise post game pokes in pokedex. It is known that it is in Unova dex, just not when obtained.

It's a sequential tournament format where you fight with 3 Pokemon against 3 Pokemon and I doubt the levels will be wildly inconsistent

It's very similar to a battle facility

If it's a tournament style it will most likely be autoscale for all battle formats, it's quite obvious unless Gamefreak decides not to for some stupid reason. And similarities to something previous doesn't necessarily mean it is a different version. I mean if there is no battle frontier this may be the place for move tutors (if they even are in the game) but until more is known it would be unwise to assume.
 
So no one here noticed Mecha Tyranitar? I wonder what its purpose in BW2 is. I'm guessing that it's going to be some kind of boss. That would be an interesting twist - I always wanted real "boss" battles in the Pokemon main games. Either way, Mecha Tyranitar is awesome.

Also, the genie forms are... interesting. Like everyone else, I didn't expect that. I'm not sure what to think of Thundurus and Landorus-SB as I don't see a full picture of them but Tornadus-SB looks decent. I definitely wouldn't like azureAngelic's speculated spread, however. That is way too low Special Attack. It can't even support well thanks to its barren support movepool or Toxic stall thanks to lack of Roost. (Unless it gets Roost in the new games? Either way, it can't beat the Poison- and Steel-types who are immune to poison.)

This game is really interesting so far. I'm surprised that GF is making so many changes. I wonder what other wacky news will be revealed in the upcoming weeks involving BW2...
 
mecha ttar was old news. we even saw it in that first promotional video.... just a part of pokewoods props..

I doubt they'll make Hoenn remakes now, simply because of the time frame; R/S/E happened at the same time as Gen I, 3 years before Gen II/IV and Gen V occurs after Gen IV. If anything, they'll do some kind of sequel to Gen III similar to B/W 2.

So yeah, Hoenn sequels coming up!

The only evidence of this is what amounts to a filler arc, the Sevii Islands sidequest which is just an excuse to shoehorn some reason for R/S/E not being connectable until post-game. Like you can breed in FR/LG, when eggs were 'supposedly' discovered three years later! Sevii Islands isn't really canon.

Considering Platinum hints very strongly that Steven was only just in the area, the area right next to where one can catch Beldum, no less. Which you cannot do in Hoenn. I wonder where Steven got his Metagross. Steven states in HG/SS that he is the champion of Hoenn [Not Ex-Champion, which he would be if RSE was set before], it's suggested rather strongly that R/S/E is not in the same timeframe as FR/LG, but is actually after HG/SS and D/P/Pt

Hell, the lack of Team Plasma mentioning to have learnt from Aqua and Magma while they mention Rocket and Galactic might even hint R/S/E is after B/W...

Anyway, I'm not concerned about the new forms to be honest. I don't have a 3DS, and I'm unlikly to get one anytime soon. I doubt these forms would drop to NU either.
 
HGSS (and even FRLG to some extent) made a lot of retcons to get around the stupid "This entire region, these 100 new Pokemon, two types and breeding were just discovered in three years" thing.
So Sevii being "Filler" doesn't mean anything.

Also remember that even when we become champions, we are still not champions because we're too...humble I guess. So Steven would still be the champion regardless (plus he could always win back the title). The World Tournament descriptions specifically mention champions, too, I think, and Lance & Cynthia are still there.

edit: also Pokemon coming from RSE to BW are said to come from a "long trip through time" while the plate dealies specifically refer to "connecting the past"

Obviously, they could retcon this easily but hey!
 
I'm sorry, but am i the only one who doesn't give a crap what timeframe the regions are set in? I'm just hopeful that since no Hoenn Gym Leaders have been shown yet (only Steven, Hoenn's Champion), there might be a RSE remake. I don't care if it doesn't make chronological sense, as long as i get my fill of nostalgia. :)

Also, has there been any news on exactly what style of battling occurs with the past leaders? I personally don't really care as they get boring fast anyways, but it'd be nice to have a place to test out teams if it came in a singles 6v6 format.

When does Team Plasma mention having learned from Team Rocket and Team Galactic? I don't recall that.
 
From the image posted by zyrefredric and the official art of the new Thundurus forme you can see that they each have a jewel where their belly button is supposed to be. Can't really tell with Landorus Tigris.
