How popular do you think the GTS is?

If there would be a reason for better US and Japan relations, it would not be because of economy. It wouldn’t be the multitude of Japanese electronic imports, nor would it be because of Hollywood movies. Even politics wouldn’t have anything to do with it.
It would be because of one reason and one reason only: Pokemon
American and Japanese owners of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl have already traded over ten (yes 10) million Pokemons through the game’s Wi-Fi connected "Global Trading Station" or simply dubbed GTS. That’s not just a lot. Ten million could already populate a whole nation of Pokemons.
What’s even more fascinating (or disturbing, however you want to look at it) is that Pokemon Diamond & Pearl was just released about a month and a half ago in U.S. shores. The Japanese versions have been out since last fall. Also, both games are still set for a summer release in the PAL regions.
Pikachu and friends, your benevolent acts towards humanity and world peace would even make Bono proud…

I didn't think that the amount of trades on the GTS were nearly that high or quickly growing, especially if you consider how many of those who bought the game don't have WiFi, or simply don't use the GTS. *raises hand*

I wonder how many of those trades involve hacked Dialgas and Palkias. . .

I kind of assumed GTS was really popular, but I found that it is really hard to find decent trades on there considering most of the time the pokemon people want are like lvl 100 palkia/dialga for a lvl 5 spiritomb or something ridiculous like that.

But if you use your head when you set up trades for GTS, it can be very beneficial.

What a terrible article...there'd be more "relations" between Japan and America if there were a big lost and found box both peoples could go to than there is on the GTS, given the complete and utter lack of actual interaction.

Man G4 is terrible...

OT, that number really doesn't surprise me, given the ease of just hopping on and making a trade. The wording is a little shoddy though, as while over 10 million Japanese and American gamers may have made trades over the GTS, I'll bet dollars to donuts taht 10 million haven't been made between Japanese and American gamers.

I've used the GTS a few times but it's really just good for filling out your Pokédex. You'll never see anything worthy of using in competitive battles there. So the Pokédex and maybe quickly finding a specific gender quickly are the only uses, which makes it fairly useless in my opinion.

I got the starters and Spiritomb without too much trouble, but Bidoof on the other hand. . . (not actually looking for a Bidoof, mind you, but I was using the GTS evolve glitch, and it was the most common Pokemon I could think of).

They treat Bidoof like it's an event legendary on the GTS.

Almost everyone wants a Level 100 Dialga/Palkia for anything in trade, but the GTS is very much a sellers market. You can get almost anything you want for a Gible/Feebas.

I expected it to be popular, but I did not expect 10 Million trades in two months.

I can agree with this. I've put up planty of Feebas and they are always traded when I come back later. But I haven't been asking for anything especially rare in return. I guess the GTS fullfills it's role when you put up the trades yourself and make resonable deals, which the majority obviously doesn't. "No, I don't want to give you my Lv 100 Palkia..."

It will be better hopefully chaos

Honestly, some of the offers are quite ridiculous. For example, I found a person who wanted a level 80 Deoxys for his measly Misdreavus. It took some time until I finally found a person who offered her male Misdreavus for a Murkrow, which I gladly traded. I needed the Misdreavus for Pain Split breeding

So, GTS is really unreliable if searching for competitive pokemon

I got everything as well, that was not the point of my post. I was merely stating how uneven the trades are, like the common palkia for whatever deal.

You can get lucky on the GTS though. Both the spiritomb and murkrow that I traded for came with PokeRus and the Larvitar I got for Palkia ended up being adamant and female, which was a plus because I just wanted the female part.

Well, I thought it was popular if I could get a Palkia for a Lv5 Jirachi.

It makes me wonder how they saw it in the first place, and why they want another.

As has been said already, the GTS is a seller's market. Thanks to all the annoying/unreasonable offers on there, when you actually offer something worthwhile and equal you get a return pretty quick.
