http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/676275/Pokemon_US_and_Japan_Over_10_Million_Served.htmlIf there would be a reason for better US and Japan relations, it would not be because of economy. It wouldn’t be the multitude of Japanese electronic imports, nor would it be because of Hollywood movies. Even politics wouldn’t have anything to do with it.
It would be because of one reason and one reason only: Pokemon
American and Japanese owners of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl have already traded over ten (yes 10) million Pokemons through the game’s Wi-Fi connected "Global Trading Station" or simply dubbed GTS. That’s not just a lot. Ten million could already populate a whole nation of Pokemons.
What’s even more fascinating (or disturbing, however you want to look at it) is that Pokemon Diamond & Pearl was just released about a month and a half ago in U.S. shores. The Japanese versions have been out since last fall. Also, both games are still set for a summer release in the PAL regions.
Pikachu and friends, your benevolent acts towards humanity and world peace would even make Bono proud…
I didn't think that the amount of trades on the GTS were nearly that high or quickly growing, especially if you consider how many of those who bought the game don't have WiFi, or simply don't use the GTS. *raises hand*
