New game system

Hey Im getting a new game system and need help choosing which I want. I had a Wii that broke and am having a really hard time choosing.
Specifications:
-Good graphics, duh
-Good NON-VIOLENT games, this is really one of the main things, my mom hates it when I play COD and stuff
-Good wireless connection. When I say this I mean like a game server where the store network wont be down for like 3 months or something

Any help is much appreciated!

Anyway, coolbiz, you may want to hold out for the Wii U. The graphics should cut it, Nintendo's first party library is pretty solid (since you're looking for nonviolent games), not to mention any games you had for your old Wii will be playable again on the U, and I don't recall any Nintendo Wi-Fi outages of any significant magnitude.
 
Every game system ever has a violent game somewhere, that's unavoidable. Just don't buy those games ^.^

The Wii U is probably what you're looking for, as stated already. Plus it's gonna have some really neat games coming out soon. I'd mention the new zombie game for it but you're not into those games so...

Okay this game system looks sweet af, I am seriously putting this into consideration, thanks.
As for the people talking about the WiiU I more than likely will get one but not one at launch because all nintendo game systems have bad malfunctions later. For example: Wii double layered disc problem and DS lite hinges problem, but they're doing better.
 
Do not put the OUYA into consideration. That is a terrible idea. It's for people with money who like playing with tech toys. If you only have money for one console, go with the WiiU. I wouldn't go with a current generation console when you can get a next generation console - even if the WiiU will likely end up the least graphically capable of the next generation, it'lll be better than a 360 or PS3 now I assume.

The Wii issue was due to Brawl being a dual layer disc and them not being prepared for that. The DS Lite was the only system with defects really. Nintendo has a great warranty in any case.

Oh I thought you were saying that the OUYA, as a thing as a whole, was a bad idea. I got very sad for a second. Yeah there will be no major games released but it could be neat, 99 bucks for an indie game system sounds kinda cool
 
Just get an Xbox 360. Xbox Live is great and considering that the 360 came out a few years ago, there are tons of games available as seen here and it's obviously not too expensive any more

Anyway, I'd say the 360 is one of the best on the market atm, specifically the 250 GB model. You get a lot of bang for your buck there. Also, Halo 4 just came out.

Portable gaming has a lot of what you're looking for, and is pretty cheap. I have my old GBA and I still get a few old GB//GBC games if I can find them...this mostly has to do with the fact that it's cheap fun for a busy lifestyle, and I have a big soft spot for old school gaming. This is good if you don't mind single player and old graphics. Although the DS seems more up your ally, and has really good games...but the actual system goes for $70-80, even a used one. I can't give an opinion on the 3DS cuz I don't have one, but it had a huge $80 price drop a while ago and the games that Nintendo put out for it are getting a lot of good reviews. IIRC, though, the library of games isn't much.

Hold off on the Wii U for now. Yes, it might sell out soon after the release, but it's best to wait. I waited outside a Target the night of the Wii's release...a year and a half later I realized it was a wasted night, way too few good games came out for it, and I spent most of my time on 360 or DS. Just wait and see how things turn out before going to buy it.
 
Why not just try out PC gaming? Most games that come out on consoles also come out on PC, you get the best graphics provided you get a gaming PC, and even if you have a non-gaming machine there's plenty of beautiful indie games out there, many of which also fit the non-violent criteria.

Well, even then I think it's a kinda stupid idea. I have a computer, 360, PS3, Wii, Windows Phone, and PlayBook. All those run games. I don't need an "indie console". It adds nothing that isn't accomplished by the others.

Yeah only crappy thing about 360 is you have to pay monthly for online play which sucks :/

I do that but my laptop can't handle a lot of the good games and I'm not buying a new laptop just to game on.

I wouldn't say its a stupid idea, its a CHEAP idea. If someone can't pay for one of those things this is a great alternative because it has free to play games compared to 40-60 dollar games, just sayn.

I'd figure that's the point of online play though: playing online.

Imagine if you had to pay to play Pokemon online...:pirate:

Personally, my two cents? Go with the Wii U, especially if you already have a Wii library. The console is backwards compatible after all. The only real thing you lose out on is GCN controls for Brawl, but Classic Controller Pro can rectify this somewhat.

Well apparently Silver doesn't allow you to actually play online, just download things, have a friendslist, etcetera. I thought Gold was needed for specific games like Halo and CoD but it's supposed to be all games although I don't recall all online games needing Gold
 
That has always been the case. Silver was introduced with the Xbox 360 to allow you to take advantage of online features like the marketplace, friends list / acheivement sharing, etc. Gold has always been required to play online since the original Xbox.

That said, it might require payment but it's by far the best online experience you'll get on a console. Hopefully Nintendo and Sony pick it up next gen.
 
My online experience with the PS3 has been more than adequate. I wouldn't pay for the features offered on the Xbox anymore than I'd pay monthly for an MMO. Hopefully Sony/Nintendo will give the best of both worlds next gen for free.

I'd say right now hold off, play some computer games, and wait for the next generation to roll around. But if you had to get a console right now, get a PS3.

The #1 thing is offers is the party system. As soon as you jump online, any of your friends already in a party are shown at the beginning of the friends list. You can also create one at the press of a button, then invite your friends to it. As more of your friends get online, you can add them in or they can join your party. All this time, you can be playing / watching whatever you want while having cross game chat. When everybody's online, one of you just needs to start up the game, click "Invite Party", and you can all accept to enter whatever it was you were going to do.

PS3 unfortunately doesn't have enough RAM to do this apparently so Sony was never able to implement it. Playing on PS3 requires individual messages sent to each person until you get into the game or coordinating over a computer (which is what I usually need to do). Not making a headset standard with each console has also proven to be a problem as some of my friends don't have bluetooth headsets =/
 
The most logical choice is the Wii U since you can play your Wii library on it and it's a next gen. console like some other people have suggested. Buying a current gen. console isn't that smart of an ideal since they will be obsolete soon, so if you don't want a Wii U, I would suggest waiting until the other next gen. consoles are out and you can try out PC gaming while you wait.
