The App Thread

I believe this was a thread before. This time of hear seems most appropriate to make this because several people will be buying apps to go along their new apple products.

I personally love to browse through apps. I enjoy seeing all type of apps from games to tools that actually are useful. I however I am a bit finicky about apps. If I don't like it I just delete it.

So what types of app do you guys play or use? Which are some of the best apps in there respective catogories or in general.

Are you guys looking forward to any apps being released? What type of apps would you like to be developed?( a solar panel charger app?)

Also I will throw this in that I find interesting. More and more big game companies are creating app version or exclusively app games. Such as one of the top games of this year was The Walking Dead, was also developed on to idevices. Then you also have big app games like infinity blade-which I find highly enjoyable.

So I would love to hear from smogon in what apps they recommend.

I'll ignore the game apps for now, as there are a ton and I'm sure people here have tried all the major ones (like walking dead / infinity that OP mentions).

I do have a certain few favorite "useful" apps though.

Waze (a traffic alert app) and Yelp (a location finder app) come to mind immediately as the two I use most often.

Whenever I drive I put Waze on and check the alerts because it always tells me useful info about traffic / cops / alerts. And whenever I plan on going to a new restaurant i try Yelp.

Very useful apps that can help most people.

To a true smogon junkie, Colloquy for iphone is a must. Clean and simple, and runs about as well as it possibly can.

Other than smogon though i mostly use my phone for texting and games so i cant contribute much itc

all of the music players i have tried for android are terrible at handling playlists/albums, so if someone can point a good one out to me that is stable on the nexus 7 that would be fantastic.

osu!stream for iphone/ipad is a great game. it's being ported to android, but osu!droid is a decent replacement until stream comes out for it.
Woodchuck, you should try the Amazon MP3 player app, it's pretty good on my kindle fire, and I assume it's available for nexus 7 because I have it on my gnexus.

i don't use my iphone except to talk to people or listen to music

the apps I use:
- TripView (a must for all Sydney-siders - app to plan journeys via public transport)
- Viber (free calls)
- Whatsapp (free texts; also good for group chats)
- Twitter
- Facebook Messenger (free texts; but I don't have Facebook itself downloaded - aint nobody got time for that)
- ATP/WTA Livescore (for tennis)

I find Bloom a great app for some relaxing chill-down time. It's great for calming down from an argument, or just for creating your own music.

GasBuddy is probably the best thing for people who drive in unfamiliar areas very often. It's a really great app to find the cheapest gas within a respectable drive, and it's accurately updated almost all the time from the areas I've been to (about 15 states, predominantly NJ, VA, MD, PA, and DE).

So I guess here's a question, what's a good iOS app for making/editing Word documents (maybe Excel also) outside of Apple's official ones that cost like $10 apiece? I know allegedly Microsoft Office apps will finally be coming to iOS sometime next year, but until then it'd be nice to have something to use so I can type out homework and stuff on my iPad while on the go and not worry about any odd issues.

Also, the FF4 app that just came out...what version is it? And does it include the new FF4 dungeons and stuff also like in the GBA remake?
