This set looks very interresting, Magnet Rise makes Metang an very respectable lead and even better Stealth Rocker, this set should be the standard set from now on, gj Joshua!

Actually, my set is completely different fro Aasgiers, as mine is to have as much coverage as possible with max attack at the expense of no secondary satb in zen headbutt and less bulk, while aasgiers aims to take on the more prominent threats in nu at the expense of being slower and not hitting steels.
That being again, I believe the set that takes out usual counters is FLCL's set, though JoshuaMunoz comes in a close second

It's worth a note that I slashed in EQ just as well for coverage and not without reason. But note that while it looks initially true, you are actually wrong. Double STAB misses out on the least things.

Zen Headbutt + Meteor Mash misses out on Klang, Mawile, Bronzor, Magnemite (lol) and opposing Metang, mostly, and Bastiodon as it can phaze you out though it will take significant damage from two boosted Meteor Mashes.
Zen Headbutt + Earthquake misses out on Shiftry, Cacturne, Natu (lol), Exeggutor, Bronzor, mostly
Meteor Mash + Earthquake misses out on Charizard, Ludicolo, Mantine, Swanna, Pelipper, Bronzor, Eelektross and Emolga (lol again) and maybe a few other things.

Having all three misses out on only Bronzor. I did not assume Magnet Rise from opponents in any case, while I assumed that Bronzor always carries Levitate.

I vote for JoshuaMunoz because it is one of the more interesting sets out there. Magnet Rise allows it to beat most, if not all opposing SR setters head-to-head and messes up Sawk thinking it can lock into EQ as well.

That Agility Metang set was also interesting but if you aim to set up speed with something, I think Metang is both too slow and too weak.

Out of interest, I'd like to nominate Cacturne/Shiftry for the next pokemon to be discussed as both are really underrated and have a lot of potential that is untapped.

Just send me a VM or PM if you have future mons you want to be brought up (just so you know for next time!) :)

Also on another note, guys consider what Next Best Thing is actually for (by reading the actual first post, since I've explained it a few times already), and rather don't vote for what you think is most unique or coolest, since that may not necessarily be the most effective for this. Just think about what each set beats, survives against, etc. I bring this up only because there were a few comments about people voting for whatever is coolest, so just keep that in mind when voting for sets!

Before I vote, I'd just like to say that I was originally going to post BROStime's set, but someone in #neverused (not naming names) told me it was a bad set for NBT, and convinced me to use a different set. I'm probably gonna get a bunch of people pissed at me for no reason for bringing this up, but whatever.

Anyway, I vote for WillSO, though I think it would work better mixed with FLCL's set by using Rock Slide, which really lets it beat its more common counters (such as charizard) more efficiently

FLCL: 3

Grats on your return BROStime ~

Samurott @ Mystic Water / Lum Berry
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute / Sword Dance
- Encore
- Waterfall
- Megahorn

Encore is one of the best non-damaging moves in the game as it is capable of stopping slow setup sweepers and some walls cold if locked into the wrong move. Samurott can prevent Musharna, Alomomola, Misdreavus, Weezing and other prominent walls from crippling Samurott, as they usually prefer to set up on or burn Samurott respectively (note: Samurott should be sent in after a wall has been sent out to abuse this set to the fullest). Encore not only supports Samurott, it supports its teammates as well (e.g. Regirock gets Encored into Thunder Wave, allowing you switch into your Zebstrika without worries). Substitute is a better choice as opposed to Swords Dance as it prevents you from getting hit by status move from walls, but SD still has its merits. Swords Dance makes Alomomola locked into anything bar Toxic setup bait. The EV spread makes it take a good amount of hits with its respectable bulk while dishing out as much damage as possible with max EVs and an Adamant Nature: the speed makes it outspeed everything up to Rampardos (credits to FLCL for the similar EV spread). This set also beats Jynx 1v1, which is pretty good as not many Pokemon can do that.

Samurott @ Salac Berry
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Swords Dance
-Substitute
-Waterfall / Aqua Jet
-Megahorn

This set solves two of Samurott's major problems: low speed and status. This guy can set up a Sub on things like Alomomola and Vileplume who try to status it, and set up a SD as it switches out. From there, it can sub down to Salac (and Torrent) range and hit the foe with a boosted Waterfall. With its extra speed, Samurott can now outspeed most things in the tier that are unboosted. Waterfall is useful for the extra power, however if you're playing this late-game, Aqua Jet also becomes a useful option to clean through entire teams. 4 HP EVs ensure that Salac Berry activates after 3 subs.

@BROStime whoops I didn't notice you already posted it somewhere else

Hey I made this set a few months ago so idk if it really counts then ? :s Proof

Will edit this thread when ive made a new set.

Frizy's got 9 votes. this is unfair.

Frizy's was never going to win in the first place - I made that clear. Anyone who voted for Frizy's set was just throwing their vote away because this is a project that actually aims to find something viable, not a reference to a thread made ages ago. So really he could've got fifty votes, it wouldn't have made a difference to the result. Now let this be the last this is mentioned in this thread okay? :) PM me if you still want to complain but that in itself is just pointless.

Also @ BROStime if it's not waiting to go on site, then it's fair game, sorry :(

Samurott@ Life Orb (Mixed otterrr)
Naughty Nature
evs 200 Atk / 252 SpA / 56 Spe
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam / Megahorn
-Hidden Power Electric
-Aqua Jet

So Samurott is mostly seen using primarily Physically based or Specially based sets, this here is the best of the both world! The attack evs allow Samurott to 2HKO faster Pokemon such as Swellow and Primape after a little prior damage while OHKOing Charizard after Stealth Rock. The set is primarily specially based because most Pokemon who are hit by water-type attacks are weaker on the special side. The Speed evs also allow you to outspeed Golurk and KO it with Hydro Pump and also OHKO 0/0 Sawk after Stealth Rock. Ice Beam takes out tangela in one hit after Stealth Rock and 2HKOes Roselia. Megahorn destroys Jynx, Ludicolo, and the plethora of Psychic-types in the tier. Hidden Power electric on the other hand 2HKOes Alomomola. Finally, Aqua Jet is also used to stop those annoying Custap Leads that have been popping out everywhere.

This is Special Samurott
Samurott@ Life Orb
Modest Nature
EVs: 252 HP/252 SpA/4 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- HP Electric
- Air Slash
Firstly, this gives good Bolt Beam coverage to counter a lot of the water types in NU. Air Slash ensures it isn't Shedinja bait and helps hit Ludicolo. It also acts as a surprise factor vs Bug types and helps hit fighting types hard. The chance to flinch vs Slower Pokemon isn't bad either.
This set is more about surprise to hit common switch-ins like Ludicolo and Shedinja.

Samurott @ Life Orb
Trait: Torrent
Evs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk -Atk)
-Surf
-Taunt
-Megahorn
-Grass Knot

I freakin' adore anti-lead / lure Samurott. It does not wreck face like CB Sawk does, nor does it OHKO Sturdy mons, but it still does a fantastic job at keeping SR away. LO Surf drowns almost any SR lead that doesn't have Sturdy, most notably Golurk, Armaldo, and Torkoal, who can survive a hit from CB Sawk and get the Rocks up. For Sturdy mons, you can Taunt them to stop SR, though you have to play carefully against Golem if you wish to preserve Samurott along with your 4x SR weak mon like Charizard or Articuno (which synergize well with Samurott btw, Electric weakness aside). Grass Knot is mainly used for Seismitoad who soaks up Surf, but is also handy for 2HKOing Alomomola and opposing Samurott.

Samurott isn't relegated to just anti-leading, he can hold his own against a myriad of other opponents single-handedly, such as Kangaskhan, Tauros, Primeape, Scolipede, Weezing, Alomomola and Misdreavus among others. You may have noticed my use of Megahorn on a Modest Samurott with no Atk EVs whatsoever. However, Samurott doesn't really need the power, it still strikes down many would-be Samurott switch-ins with tremendous ease, some being OHKOed after prior damage or just outright.

0Atk Life Orb Torrent Samurott (-Atk) Megahorn vs 0HP/0Def Dry Skin Jynx (Neutral): 164% - 194% (446 - 526 HP). Guaranteed OHKO.
0Atk Life Orb Torrent Samurott (-Atk) Megahorn vs 0HP/0Def Ludicolo (Neutral): 90% - 106% (270 - 318 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 39% chance to OHKO.
0Atk Life Orb Torrent Samurott (-Atk) Megahorn vs 252HP/172Def Exeggutor (+Def): 89% - 105% (352 - 416 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 34% chance to OHKO.
0Atk Life Orb Torrent Samurott (-Atk) Megahorn vs 252HP/4Def Thick Fat Grumpig (Neutral): 77% - 91% (282 - 334 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.
0Atk Life Orb Torrent Samurott (-Atk) Megahorn vs 252HP/4Def Hypno (Neutral): 71% - 84% (266 - 316 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.
0Atk Life Orb Torrent Samurott (-Atk) Megahorn vs 252HP/4Def Gardevoir (Neutral): 82% - 98% (282 - 334 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.

The Speed EVs are mainly for speedtying with Ludicolo and Samurott. Most Ludicolo do not hesitate to Rain Dance on a Special Samurott anyway, but in the event that they try to Giga Drain me I can at least stand a fighting chance. Max Speed Samurott also outspeeds 0 Spe Miltank, preventing both SR and recovery with Taunt and hit her hard with LO Surfs.

Samurott @ Liechi Berry
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Aqua Jet

I first used this Samurrot before Jynx and friends entered the tier, but I still enjoy using this set. Like the SUbSalac set, the basic idea is bring Samurrot out on something it can beat, set up Sub on the switch, and then proceed to Swords Dance behind the sub, and keep setting up sub until you are in Liechi range. Samurrot can usually get at least one Swords Dance, so Samurrot will usually be spamming its STAB moves at + 3, along with a torrent boost. Even things that resist it are going to get 2HKO'ed. For example:

252Atk +3 Torrent Samurott (+Atk) Waterfall vs 252HP/176Def Exeggutor (Neutral): 53% - 63% (211 - 249 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.

That is using Standard SubSeed Exeggutor, but even a full 252/252 Neutral Eggy has a 25 % to be 2HKO'ed, without entry hazards.

As with the SubSalac, Samurott is going to need things weakened down before he can sweep, but Aqua Jet ensures he can easily pick off faster, frailer threats who want to try to outspeed and KO him, like Primeape and Scholipede.

The two STAB moves seem odd, but , with only four move slots, it has to be like that. Missing Megahorn for Tangela is sad, so you will need something else to take care of Tangela. As said before, prior damage is very useful, in particular entry hazards. In addition, priority from something like Skuntank will stop Samurrot cold, or even aftermath can spell the end of Samurrot. However, as said before, at + 3, Waterfall will do big damage to most everything, even 2HKO'ing Weezing. It even has a 42 % chance to OHKO Missy at + 3, which is really not hard to reach. Jynx also clearly walls this set, so Jynx will need to be removed.

The only issue I see is that due to the lack of coverage it needs a LOT of team support but the set itself is cool :)
