i didn't think that megaman was made in the 60's but that intro totally reminds me of spiderman right down to the style and quality of the sound
[except the spiderman intro was more complex lol]
 
Alright, we've talked enough about newcomers, let's talk veterans. Who do you want to come back and who do you want them to cut?

I really hope they cut the Ice Climbers, in both Melee and Brawl the only thing they could do was put you in an inescapable infinite that wasn't even that difficult to pull off. To put them back in they'd have to either not fix them or redo their entire balance, and the latter sounds impossible.

I literally get goosebumps every time those horns come in. In fact, all of Donkey Kong's music in the Smash Bros. series is truly outstanding. (I really gotta play DKC one of these days.)

That Mega Man music from the video is pretty sweet. It gives me hope that a stellar soundtrack is still a top priority for the series. I'm definitely getting a Wii U so I can experience the music, which for me has always been the best part of the series. I fear that the 3DS version's soundtrack will suffer just because the 3DS's sound quality is significantly worse that the Wii U's, but there's still hope for some unique and awesome remixes for both versions!

I wouldn't mind them getting rid of Falco, and incorporating his moveset into Fox's (though Falco is my main in Brawl...). Ganondorf needs to either be replaced or overhauled entirely. It's long been a running joke that he refuses to use his sword for some reason. I'd understand if they got rid of Lucas and Ike to make room for new characters. I'm not really expecting Sonic and Snake to return either. Third-party characters are already on the thin ice for the series. Ice Climbers however are really unique and fun to use! I'd be extremely disappointed to see them get the axe.
 
Is it weird that most of my favourite tracks are from Melee? (Actually, judging by some of the posts, it isn't.)

I found myself thinking more about the prospect of a slide cancel, and I ended up likening it to Melee's wavedash. I guess one character having a different form of wavedash would end up being problematic. It's just that Smash has already gone so far in making Mega Man more like his original incarnation than a usual Smash fighter. As it is, he has only three ground melee attacks and two melee aerials so far.
 
at the same time, though, it's not like the game is finished yet, or that we got to study any of the fighters in-depth. it's a bit early to diagnose the movesets when they're likely still going to be tweaked - and balancing probably hasn't taken place yet.

Ice climbers need to be revamped, and I wouldn't be upset if wario or diddy kong weren't there. I never really liked them that much.

This would devastate me, he was my main.

On the topic of who I'd like to return, I will go into Dan vs. tier rage if these guys don't get in:
-Wario
-Ganondorf
-Dedede

I'd really like to see these guys return, although I'm not going to swear vengeance on Sakurai if they get cut:
-Pokemon Trainer (at the very least, Charizard)
-Meta Knight
-Wolf
-Snake
-Sonic
-Luigi
-Lucario
-Game & Watch
-R.O.B.
 
I'm really curious what they're going to do about Jigglypuff. Jiggly was recently confirmed to be a part Fairy-type, so this hopefully means that:
1) They will revamp her attacks to fit whatever moveset additions she will receive in Pokemon X and Y, or
2) They will feel less uneasy about replacing her with a newer fairy-like Pokemon (hopefully an event legendary like Victini).
Either one of these changes would be ok by me.

For the love of god, please keep ROB. There's not a single character on the rest of the roster that compares to him and I don't think any replacement character could fill in the void left behind for such a unique fighter. At a glance, a lot of the internet to be hoping / predicting he gets cut, but judging by the pre-brawl predictions that Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, and G&W would get cut... they're not much to go by.

He's also been my main for a good 4 years now. I've won and placed decently in a few local tournaments so I would be the saddest panda if he was cut. :pirate:

After playing with the whole cast here and there for over 5 years, I have to say I think Brawl has a fantastic roster and would be sad to see any of the characters cut. If any character were to be cut though, I think it'd be Lucario. The reason being that his character feels more like a character slot dedicated to the Pokemon franchise's current sentient poster child for the Pokemon generation.

Beyond that though, I don't feel like any other particular characters are in danger of a cut. Brawl really has a solid cast without any true clones (the closest being Toon Link and Ganondorf who are both A) staples to their franchise and B) decently Luigified). I hope to see most of the cast returning!

i wouldn't mind luke getting cut at all, in fact i would probably drink the tears of aura sphere spamming (BAN ME PLEASE)s as a refreshing cocktail

Though I would not be shocked to see Lucario go, I could not personally disagree more. Lucario in Brawl was my first exposure to Pokemon since Gold/Silver. He immediately became my favorite Brawl character, and he got me interested in checking out Diamond/Pearl. To be frank, I wouldn't be a member of this forum if Lucario wasn't in Brawl. I can't imagine who they could replace him with that would be as unique and fun for me.

Guilty as charged. Sorry guys, but that's me. :P I'm really gonna miss Lucario though if he's gone (Mewtwo replacement probably).

I'd like Ganondorf to be revamped, perhaps even replaced with Demise from Skyward Sword, as right now, he's fairly awful.

Between Fox, Falco, and Wolf, one of them's gotta go. They're honestly like the same character, and annoying as hell.

I want Jigglypuff and Mr. Game and Watch to GTFO. Wario and Ice Climbers are pretty dumb as well, though repeatedly driving Wario off a cliff was pretty entertaining lol.

No way! They're all so dynamically different in little ways, they're all really really fun to switch between and have excellent distribution of little changes. For example, each of them has a different class of fall speed, ground speed, run speed, weight, and a "signature smash move" that is more powerful than the other two. If anything they should cut fox, he's so boring and lame.
 
personally i think falco is the most likely to go as he's not the main character [fox] or a villain [wolf] but i can see wolf going too as falco seems quite popular [but so is wolf]

either way i think they can adjust their movesets to make them no longer semi-clones

i can see luke being replaced by mewtwo to help intrigue people into x & y whilst keeping a fan-favourite in.

i'm 99.3141592% sure that ganondorf will be revamped for balancing issues just because of how bad he was in brawl lolol.

i don't see jigglypuff being replaced because not only is she now given new life as a faerie type but she's apparently quite popular in japan.

wario represents his series and is not likely to go though i don't like him either.

game and watch is cute imo ahaha he's quite unique i think.

ice climbers are seeming a little useless in the sense that they're not doing anything with them like they did with kid icarus/pit, though sakurai will likely keep them in for nostalgia/retro purposes.
 
I'm sure C.Falcon and the Jiggz will never be leaving. They've been here since the original smash, it doesn't seem likely that they'd leave.

I can see Wolf leaving though, but not Falco. Everyone likes that Brooklyn bird.

Since you brought it up, Lucario is far more different from Mewtwo than the Fox copies are from each other. They both share a non-damaging up-b, have a similar neutral-b, and are floaty, but that's about it. The other two specials are changed, as was the entire moveset. Even the neutral-b has very different trajectory. Then you have Lucario's unique aura power.
 
Very true, but a lot of their physical attacks share the same animations. I like playing as lucario a bit more though, but I never really like melee's control style anyway.
