Pokémon XY General Discussion

I'd much rather that Mega Evolution is accessible to only those Pokémon that have reached a certain BST. Until then, let GF introduce normal evolutions for them. You look at something like Houndoom and it needs a normal evolution.

This is one of the silliest things I have ever heard. Are you one of these people where everything must be OU worthy or super strong or something? Houndoom is REALLY strong ingame. It has no need for an evolution. Maybe stuff like Spinda, Luvdisc or Farfetch'd need evolutions, but stuff which is already pretty strong do not. I like the variation down and up in terms of power. If everything was strong it would make the game really boring.

No, I don't want everything to be powerful. I just want a common ground on which Mega Evolutions happen. Based on the revealed Pokemon, there seems to be no connection. So random Pokemon get buffed? Even ones like Blaziken?

why should everything have to have a reason or connection giving it to random pokemon could work just as well

I like it being random. We won't know what to expect when they have wifi events giving out mega stones.
I'm almost certain it's not random, otherwise half of the fans will be pissed as to how Blaziken got it and not Charizard. It is probably like must have a BST of 500+ or something. This will pretty much make 3 things that ingame Pokemon fans happy. Mega legendaries, Mega starters, and seeing cute little averages turn into badasses.

i have no idea how you came to that conclusion so far its been random and seriosuly charizard being weak is a wonderful thing for all the guys who picked bulbasaur and were told he wasnt as wonderful as their little fire dragon who now is pretty damn useless with sr existing

Tell that to almost every 6-12 year old that plays Pokemon and see their reaction. I'm pretty sure Charizard is considered to be one of the most hyped up Pokemon anyways. Even though I don't care for him.

Since when did Mawile have 500 bst? Pretty sure its only about 380 BST. Honestly, I don't mind them being totally random in the slightest. maybe they picked some of the cool mons which people liked and just went yeah those will do :o

I love fire types, but that doesn't affect my decision when I say that Venusaur under the sun is too powerful (Lol, then again, I have one in my OU team). Well, too powerful when compared with the other starters. Charizard, even with its great Stats, is lurking in NU thanks only to SR. The same OP thing goes to Blaziken (Yes I know, it's a fire type). Aren't starters supposed to be "balanced"? I hope they make it so that in Gen VI, flying types can avoid SR (Or something else that nerfs SR).

even with a mega evo he will still take sr damage if its not straight away and besides i dont think 6-12 yr olds even know what a charizard is they would be more familiar with emboar and infernape and venusaur should get a mega evo more than charizard he needs more love and charizard is overrated

stealth rock would be near useless if flying types could avoid it that would wreck the game

I think the main idea of SR was to nerf flying types.

Mr. Masuda & Co at the Japanese Pokémon Game Show

Possible X&Y news tomorrow (or day after tomorrow) at the Pokémon Game Show taking place in Japan.

How is this a buff for Blaziken? Remember that this takes it's item away. The only way this could be a buff to current Blaziken is if it suddenly gets like 160 atk, higher than Zekrom, which seems highly unlikely. On the other side, this allows Blaziken to have Baton Pass...

For all we know, the items may provide a stat/type boost in addition to enabling the mega evolution (similar to Giratina's Griseous Orb).

That is genwunner talk. My younger brothers, aged 8-12, prefer the 5th gen starters. The reason is simple: 4th/5th gen are the first Pokemon games most 6-12 years old play, not gen 1 games.

I really hope we get some clarification about the requirements needed to MEvo in the Pokemon Game Shows.

Yeah, if it works that way there would be quite a difference between SpeedBoost Blaziken and SpeedBoost Blaziken with huge boosts to Atk and SpA in a single turn.
Sure, you won't be able to stack it with LO or CB but the MegaStone would give you way beyond what LO or CB alone could deliver.
I hope there aren't too many drawbacks (like the MegaMoveset being predetermined! :P )

In the anime, Noivern was seen using Sonicboom. Seeing as how many Pokemon that can learn Sonicboom are special based, maybe Noivern is too. At last, something that won't abuse DD and Outrage.

Sorry if it's not the right place .... What if Charizard MEGAevolves in a Dragon / Fire Pokemon ... with Solar Power ? Better secondary stab, less weakness (Flying is redondant with Fire against Bug & Grass).

Same story with Gyarados and Dragon / Water

Usually when there are additional effects to transformation items such as the STAB type boost you mentioned for the Griseous Orb, the boost is explained in the item's description. However, from what we've seen of the Mega Stones, it looks like that this isn't the case. It's still possible though.

It's not a guess. They've told us. MegaMawile gets increased Def and SpD, MegaBlaziken and MegaLucario have raised Atk and MegaAbsol has raised Atk and Spe.
We just don't know the exactly what the boosts will be numerically. GF can be strange but it would be REALLY strange to have the hyped MegaPokemon mechanic be outclassed by equipping a Life Orb.
There is the distinct possibility that the stat boosts resulting from MegaEvolution could involve the doubling of selected stats depending on the Pokemon specie.
