Froakie's foam has far too many uses (Still, it's an awesome design imo). Why exactly is GF 'promoting' Froakie more than the other starters?

And about Fairy being normally effective against Psychic: What if Exeggutor is retconned to Grass/Fairy? Then again, we're better off just waiting for the next CoroCoro.

We shouldn't even be discussing about any balancing issues before the game is released. Do you know / remember a time when Rhyperior was believed to be broken before/during(?) the early stages of DPP's release?

Who believed that? I remember the time of DPP and the reveal of Rhyperior and his ability, people said it has scary attack and the ability would make it good in OU, but I don't remember people saying it's broken, but I agree we shouldn't assume things before the whole game is released, because even if an ability/move..etc sounds broken now, it might not be in the new gen.

Read the following to answer your question:

It's shown in the same italian video where Fairy Wind was used on Exeggutor. This on:

After Psybeam hits Exeggutor it says "non e molto effective" - it's not very effective.

Game Freak balances for their official metagame, which is VGC Doubles. Sure they might make a couple tweaks directly related to singles here and there, but for the most part they don't care much about single battles. With the possible (but unlikely) exception of a couple Pokemon, VGC is a completely balanced metagame, and Nintendo likely intends for it to stay that way.
With the exception of 2010 of course, where clearly the entire company had a serious brain aneurysm and allowed a bunch of Ubers like Kyogre in to the metagame.

In general, ubers tend to balance themselves out pretty well on the whole. I don't know what gives you the impression that any one uber can be broken in a metagame where you get a shitton of options (other ubers) to cover them.

TPCi even went as far as to ban Dark Void (a move that is not exactly broken but arguably has a very unpleasant effect on the metagame and turns smeargle into an equally unpleasant guessing game) in 2012. Doubles balances itself extremely, extremely well. There are ways to make doubles metagames significantly more shitty by introducing luck-based aspects (see: Thundurus, most rock slides) but far fewer to make them inherently unbalanced.

But they didn't allow ALL ubers. Just a handful of them. It was NOT balanced in the slightest. Kyogre was on 40%+ and Palkia was on 35%+ of teams. It was awful.

@Anartya But there's no way of knowing if Exxegutor's type has been retconned to Grass/Fairy, is it? I know it's far out there, but it's a point of view. Once again, like I said, we're better off waiting for the next CoroCoro.

There isnt really any reason to think that it would be fairy, but if its still psychic then it lines up with the old rumors.

Our very own Ubers tier is surprisingly balanced, and that's with six of the things allowed. Little Cup is also a fairly balanced (if stale at times) tier where the big three Pokemon (Mienfoo, Murkrow, Misdreavus) see similar usage.

High usage =/= broken. Always remember that.

Also, it wasn't a brain aneurysm as you say it was. It was a last-tourney blowout as a way to send off DPP. Think Global Showdown here, except less extreme.

Yeah, as many have already said we can't really comment on broken Pokemon or anything. Some have said we should wait to see their stats and everything but we'll have to wait more than that.

Everyone who played early BW1 OU knows Reuniclus and Conkeldurr were two of the most dangerous threats and many people used OTR Reuniclus (still pretty dangerous xD) and BU Conkeldurr (not that good now), with the former even being a suspect at some point. Now they're nowhere near as common and sure no one thinks they're broken. Haxorus is another example of Poke everyone was afraid of that now fails to keep up with the really fast metagame. We have to wait until OU tiering goes through the first stages to really see what's broken because most Pokemon may end up being a flop or fail to adapt the metagame.

Oh, no. Oh, no. No, no, please don't let this be what that question is making me think this is- you know what other starter got promoted over the others? Piplup. I don't want Froakie to be a repeat of Dawn's Piplup. I don't want to have Froakie shoved down my throat at every turn. I don't want them to be making Froakie a second mascot like they tried to do with Piplup.

But does Fairy resist Psychic? Because an Exeggutor in that same video resisted Fennekin's Psybeam. Obviously, this is normal behavior for a Grass/Psychic-type, of course.

Somebody needs to go to TV Tropes and add the "Ninja Pirate Robot Zombie" trope to Froakie's character page ASAP.

I really don't know where everyone is getting the vibe that Froakie is being promoted more than the others. They've all had essentially equal footage, and if they end up doing the reverse triangle that would be more evidence than ever that they're trying to be unbiased this gen.

As for the Piplup situation, half of Dawn's team was small and cute for contests performances / to fit her personality. I'm personally hoping that Froakie becomes Ash's first evolved water-type.

Howabout this one?

Can be easily photoshopped too. I know I have seen a non-Fennekin picture just like that one.

*I'm not sure if magelief himself played it or if he knew someone who did

MageLeif was the beta tester, he just tried to cover himself saying he ~knew someone~.

And I'm still banking on the SE/NVE message being skipped when the target pokémon faints. MageLeif's Fairy type chart was just too fucking perfect not to be true.

Pretty sure it was confirmed that the NVE/SE message is shown by a video of the demo..
Ice might get the resist instead of Psychic and Ice arguably needs it more. Their only niche left was to Ice Shard Dragons and with Fairy being the new Dragon slayer type, it would make sense to bring life to Ice types.
