Pokémon XY General Discussion

Chespin's evolution looks utterly retarded, not gonna lie. However i'm digging the other starters' middle forms, especially Froakie!
Also, i wonder if there will be two "mewtwo megastones" or just one, with the option to toggle/choose which mega-form you want. It could be interesting, particularly with the information about how you can mega evolve a pokemon during battle. Possibly a way to have both mewtwo megas at different stages of the same battle?

The scans seem to indicate two separate items: Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y.

Oh my, Chespin's evolution is a complete goof. Very disappointed the most adorable starter ever (Fennekin) went bipedal. Froakie's evolution is AMAZING. Wow, I can't wait to see its final stage. I definitely know who I'm choosing! Mega Mewtwo X looks odd, but Psychic/Fighting with its movepool is sweet. I love the gender differences of Meowstick. I will probably prefer using the female for support but I like the design of the male. The dog thing has an incredible ability assuming its stats are any decent. I'm looking forward to Fur Coat on other Pokemon. Now, for the fossils. Wow! Easily my favorite pair of fossils. They are both adorable, and I like their typings (although Rock/Ice is baaaad). I have a terrible feeling the T-Rex will be slow, which will ultimately leave it in a rough place with that typing (6 weaknesses).

I'm actually not quite sure how Chespin's line will become Dark-type. Its evolution learns Mud Shot and its body looks a lot like Golem. Maybe Grass/Rock? I seriously doubt the leaks are wrong in such a major aspect but I'm not sure about the logic here.

It could be like deoxys and be version specific while using the same item

i was always gonna choose froakie but now im proud of how when not too much people liked him now hes like hands down the coolest not to mention his final stage is gonna be sick unless he goes all chespin on us

so let's see here...
Fairy is Super Effective on Fighting, Dark and Dragon and not effective on Fire, Poison or Steel and weak to Poison & Steel while resists Fighting, Dark and Bug and is immune to Dragon.
While Steel lost its resistance to Dark and Ghost.

This is the most balanced thing to happen to Pokemon since Gen 2...my god...Jirachi/Metagross/Bronzong is FUCKED, and Sableye/Spiritomb has less to worry about now.

Game Freak is REALLY trying to make a hyper-offensive type of metagame and we have to do our best to figure out where Mega Evolutions will go.

This has been one of the best leaks ever...

Other than all the fire/fighting starters and bulbasaur, all the other starters with secondary types received them on their last evolution.

I may have been a bit harsh on Chespin's evo, but even though it's first evo is awful, I still have hope for something like an Shelgon -> Salamence, Kakuna -> Beedrill etc evolution.

Well, I've been looking at the impact of the new type chart and found some interesting things... (yes, I know...this stuff hasn't been confirmed yet...but assuming it is...)

  • Reshiram and Dialga will be spared of the Fairy-threat (1x multiplier), giving them quite the noticeable niche (especially Dialga).
  • Any Dragon that does not have a secondary typing (or has one named Dark, Fighting, etc.) will be nerfed significantly. Bye, bye, Hydreigon!
  • Steel types defensively get a bit of a nerf (huge nerf for Steel/Psychic(etc.) Pokemon) and a buff (Fairy resistance looks very good right now, Heatran will have 1/4x resistance to it).

Well, that is all I have, anything more to note?

EDIT:

  • Offensive Steel gets a very good buff, considering how good the Fairy-type is shaping out to be (could you name some Pokemon that could see a tier boost because of this?).
  • The Poison-type is now viable, offensively and defensively. Gengar (combined with the buff to hit Steels better) is sounding extremely dominant on paper.
  • The Ice-type is officially the worst type. We yapped at Poison having a lack of type advantages, but it got a big one this generation; whereas the Ice-type gets outdone by the Fairy-type almost outright. Ice just doesn't seem to be worth it anymore.
  • The Fairy-type looks to be one of the best defensive types in the game now. Offensively, it is very good (problems with the Steel-types).

So, the new changes to Steel type's resistances mean that I get to chunk Scizor a tiny bit harder when it switches in on my Night Slash?

Hell yeah I'll take it.

So, the Grass Oshawott evolves into Grass Pignite.
Last form will be... Grass Serperior then? Oh wait.

I really wanted to go with something not Froakie since Clauncher is something I want for my team, but right now I just don't see Fennekin nor Chespin being around at all, so... eh.

Mega Garchomp BETTER bet INSTABANNED liked how they did Skymin...
#gameoverman
Mega Mewtwo X is a great addition however I wish it wasn't version exclusive...NOW I HAVE TO BUY X as well

Unless it's speed/defense improves in it's ME, you can still defeat it with a single Ice Beam.

All you people hating on Hariboogu will be eating your words when it's final evo looks badass

Why must ghost and dark have only one resistance each now. This is horrible.

Now every stall team has to run a fighting and a normal type? Ugh. I think all these typing changes are awesome except completely ruining defensive play from tyranitar

Is it just me, or does it look like Mega-Garchomp was just GF seeing what would happen if Garchomp and Druddigon got fused together?
